Like people have said, Charlie can't control his powers. He can only control his behavior and how physically close he gets to people. Personally I think it's kind of a mix between him kind of theorizing that stealing powers could help, and him genuinely loving Babe and that being the side effect. Ultimately the result is the same: Babe gets his powers stolen.

2024-05-16 03:37:32 +0000 UTCCharlie doesn't control his power, sort of like how Jeff cannot control his power. It just happens as they touch. Just happened to be touching Babe a whole lot! 😂 You find out later how Charlie finds out about the parameters of his powers. As for why Babe forgave Charlie so fast, I think it was a combo of how much he loved Charlie, the fact that Charlie didn't come to trick Babe, he came to help and just so happen to fall in love with Babe, which made it harder for him to confess his connection to Tony, afraid he would lose Babe. Babe knowing all of that, could forgive Charlie his wrong doings, especially since when he asked was that all the lies and Charlie immediately said, nope. This show definitely gets better each episode, so I cannot wait to see your reactions to the rest of the series. Great reaction!
