One of the things I like about this show is that the further into the show you get, the more the OP and ED lyrics make sense. Also, I’m happy that you’re keeping up really well with the story. I think you’ll be even more amazed and moved by the story in the future. Looking forward to watching this with you till the very end! ~

Hopefully this helps: (relevant characters) Wei Wuxian aka Yiling Patriarch, Lan Zhan/Wanji aka blue robe dude with cool string instrument, Jiang Cheng aka guy with purple lighting rod (named Zidian), Jin Ling aka arrow firing yellow dude, Ghost General is important but you'll find out about him later. These are the characters you've seen so far that would be considered pretty important but you'll meet more relevant characters later! Also for further clarification, there are five sects; Qishan Wen Sect, Lanling Jin Sect, Yunmeng Jiang Sect, Gusu Lan Sect and Qinghe Sect. (You can assume where characters are from according to the colour of their robes or their names). Hope this helps (:

Oh yeah the ads are hilarious (and also threw me off the first time I watched mdzs). Also at first when I couldn't remember everyone's names I pretty much just referred them with the colours of their robes and at least the colour coding makes it easier and quicker to distinguish different clans from another. Oh and Jiang Cheng, that purple guy with the whip, is mentioned in the very beginning of the first episode as being the Yiling Patriarch closest shidi (junior brother of the same clan) and being the one who killed the patriarch in the end. Also in that...guess it can be called flashback with the baby Jin Ling those random people talking say that JL's mother was Wei Wuxian's shijie (senior sister of the same clan) so that makes it double bad and makes even greater the horrid connection between WWX and Jin Ling as they say that WWX killed her. But what you said at the end, I mean this episode having it all, drama, comedy, intrigue as well as stunning visuals and great music, really sums up this whole story quite well I think. One of the reasons I love this story (and especially this adaptation) so much is that it is very well balanced, not too much anything and usually the timing of comedy etc is on point. And that just adds to the underlying story that quickly grabs a hold of you. Oh and yes, the symbolism is everywhere (I mean...the bunnies are colour coded too, and there's so much more),even though I'm pretty sure I don't notice every detail, not being chinese nor very familiar with this genre, but I can appreciate what I do notice. Can't wait for the next one^^

To explain the name of the clans or sects, they always mention the sects' names after their locations. If you remember the 1st episode, they mentioned the 4 great sects. Yunmeng Jiang, Gusu Lan, Lanling Jin and Qinghe Nie. So Yunmeng, Gusu, Lanling and Qinghe are locations. Jiang, Lan, Jin and Nie are the family names of the clans leading the sects. Maybe it'll be easier to understand if it's written as Jiang sect of Yunmeng, etc. So Jin Ling's family name is Jin, given name Ling, and he is a member of the Jin clan and sect located in Lanling. Only clan members use the name of the sect as their family names, non-clan disciples in the sects may have other family names. This kind of direct/outer disciples thing will be made even clearer in the Lan sect. Only the head ribbons of the clan members have cloud pattern, non-clan members have plain white ribbons. Although this will not be explicitly explained in the anime. Hope that helps. And to be fair, WWX didn't know who Jin Ling was when he taunted him about his manners using his mom. He only realised it after he found out that Jiang Cheng is JL's uncle.
