Nice episode. Can't wait for episode 10-11 reactions! They are some of my favorite episodes where I really got kinda addicted to the franchise. People here and on youtube are telling you paragraphs about novel stuff the donghua sort of brushes over or only alludes to, but don't sweat the small stuff to much. There are tons of little details and foreshadowing everywhere (like you noticed the turtle in 9- tons of random stuff gets set up in the background, but its more of fun things to catch after knowing all the mysteries and motivations rather than stuff you should just pick up on the first watch) but its not really important to enjoying the anime. Fans are just really excited and like to talk about that sort of thing and its not like many youtubers cover MDZS.

The tortoise is attracted to the smell of blood. So when they realized Wei Wuxian was shot, they knew he was not going to be able to get out with everyone. The scene with the blood going into the water is pretty much them telling you if Wei goes into the water, everyone is screw.

OH yeah also, the Lan sect member (he's not part of the clan, his forehead ribbon is the simple white one which just means he's a disciple of the sect, while if you're a family member like Lan Wangji, the ribbons have a cloud pattern as well) who dragged MianMian away & shot Wei Wuxian with an arrow is the same boy who went to the lake to hunt the water ghouls with them in ep 4. His name is Su She & during that ep he was too arrogant & lost his sword in the water, which is why Wei Wuxian had to pull him up from the water (since Su She lost his method of transportation) before they both got dragged down under again

And idk but you remember that in the second episode appear zombie dude named Ghost General Wen Ning? And that nice shy boi with bow also has a name Wen Ning...Coincidence? I don't think so!

the line where Madam Yu says the whole 'It's not like ur mom could ever surpass someone else's mom" directed towards Jiang Cheng is her saying how could Jiang Cheng ever surpass Wei Wuxian in anything when she herself can't surpass Wei Wuxian's mother, Cangse Sanren

The leader of the Lan clan/sect who's dying at this time is actually Lan Wanji's & Lan Xichen's father. We don't see him ever bc he was in secluded meditation all this time before the burning of the Cloud Recesses. Lan Qiren (man with the goatee) is his brother, so he's Lan Wangji+Lan Xichen's uncle who kinda acted as a temporary leader while his own brother wasn't present to handle the responsibilities
