The door in the original campaign was not for the prison but to a temple that had been closed up when the Briarwoods took over. It was a common case where they looked at the story and decided, "Ok, this story does not need to be put into the show, but this is an iconic moment that deserves a nod." edit to add on: Watching or listening to all of the campaign is daunting. I listened to Campaign 1 while working a data entry job so I had 40+ hours a week to listen. That being said, there are definitely rough episodes, which is to be expected when you have 116 episodes that are an average of 4 hours each (rough estimate). There were definitely a handful of combat episodes where rolls were not going their way, things were dragging on, everyone was tired, and even just listening you can tell it was a slog for everyone.
