I am Catholic so itβs just kind of my default interpretation of everything, especially when dealing with Angels, Heaven, and Hell.

2024-06-17 03:05:00 +0000 UTCCatholicism also never mentions Lillith, which Hazbin Hotel does, so analyzing this through only a Catholic lens is limiting - it's not wrong, but it's lacking when applied to the context of this show's framework. Given a looser interpretation, it's simple to see that Heaven's existence here is hypocritical.

2024-06-16 20:58:18 +0000 UTCMaybe, I like that way of thinking, I guess Iβll take that interpretation of it, but in Catholicism Heaven was really never for me βgoodβ people, it was for faithful people who accepted God and followed his teachings, it just so happened that those teachings were to be good, or more like to not sin.

2024-06-16 18:26:11 +0000 UTCI was so convinced Emily and Charlie were voiced by the same person too, but apparently it isn't and that's crazy! I'm sure they were purposely doing that so we could immediately draw comparisons between Heaven and Hell and it worked. Emily and Charlie's harmony during the song, "You Didn't Know", never fails to send me chills everytime though. It's assumed that one of Angel's siblings is here in Heaven - you can see a similarly-designed lady in the group shot at the end of the "Welcome to Heaven" song and it's Angel's sister, "Molly". Her concept and design was explored in a Hazbin Hotel fancomic so it's not fully canon (or maybe it is now since it's officially seen here), but it's a neat little detail. Y'all called everything in this episode so early on, it was great to see it confirmed for you! I agree that things were pretty obvious, namely Vaggie's backstory and a triflin' Heaven double standard, but ay, we also got Adam to confirm her name's origins so that was a bonus. I wonder if Adam is the one responsible for naming all the exorcists since managing them seems to be his primary duty - imagining a ton of lame names like 'Spare ribs' or 'Danger tits' running around.

2024-06-16 15:38:50 +0000 UTCThe song is one of the few things I don't like about this show, not because I don't like the song but because the premise of it makes no sense, "If Hell is forever then Heaven must be a lie, if Angels can do whatever and remain in the sky." That makes perfect sense, Hell is forever so it doesn't matter if they can be redeemed, they can't get to Heaven, by that logic Heaven is also forever and people would also stay in Heaven no matter what even if they "fall to the dark side".
