Love reactions nice and in depth. Honestly, wish they had not skipped so much of the novel which one reason for some of the confusion about the story/plot. Overall I am amazed at the art and the animation for this show, yeah its got a couple places with issues but overall outstanding (movie quality). The music is sublime as well. BUT the voice acting is superior. Zhang Jie (Wei Wuxian) and Bian Jiang (Lan Wangji) nail it. Still amazed at the range of emotions from sane to insane to grieving, Zhang Jie acts in that one scene when Wei Wuxian wakes up after the battle at the bridge, just WOW.

Yey, it was worth waiting for your reaction again. And I have to agree, even though I know very well what's gonna happen, that this end felt a bit unsatisfying, like it originally wasn't meant to be the end of this season. But other comments have already said everything about that I know too sooo lets leave it at that. All in all I loved this season, but I do have to say that some parts felt a bit rushed and I can fully understand why some plot points etc can be a bit hard to follow (also after seeing the live action which is more detailed and slow paced I'm a bit sad about all the scenes that had to be cut/rushed...oh well, both adaptations have their own pros and cons). Also I can't believe I'm willing to go through the pain that is the Yi city arc over again...it's probably my favourite story arc of mdzs but so damn painful. I also hope this adaptation does it justice too like the live action did - on it's own way of course. Not sure if Im glad I or mad that I have to wait before I can see it... Well anyways, thanks for the reactions again^^

I can't confirm this because I only speak English but there's translations of mdzs s2 only being 8 episodes because someone on weibo explained that in order to broadcast in summer time, you are required to send in all the episodes before april for review. It is highly possible that mdzs animators only managed to finish 8 episodes at the time of the deadline. I've seen this reason from several translators but, it isn't confirmed. It seems to be the case tho

Doesn't matter who killed Shijie, it was just a random cultivator trying to kill Wei. The audio drama just finished airing the entire story and has been translated. The translation is a bit difficult to find now because the translator's stream was getting too much traffic from China. I could give you the links if you'd like. Here's a sample of the soup incident that the anime skipped over. https://asckj1.tumblr.com/post/185867528619/mo-dao-zu-shi-audio-drama-s3-extra-delivering

I can't wait until season three because it will finally cover the Yi City Arc - possibly the most informational and important arc there is in this show. The man at the end of the teaser is Xiao Xingchen, a man mentioned prior in the season with the sword that leaves behind icy marks on victims of his attack. And, like you said, there is A LOT of mystery in this show, and some mysteries have yet to even be revealed. The author of the original novel of mdzs is excellent with uncovering these mysteries. Another interesting point is the fact neither character in this show falls onto the scale of "black and white" a phrase mentioned several times by Wei Ying himself; all characters are morally gray and have intention behind their actions, as will, hopefully, be explained in the next season which comes out next year. The man familiar with Lan Clan sword techniques is important, and you were correct on who it could be. Jin Guanyao (Third Brother) and Nie Huaisang are important characters for future episodes. Also, when Nie Huaisang mentions past sect leaders die of "Qi Deviation", that basically means something wrong has occurred in spiritual or martial arts training, this is another important factor. The ending is quite unsatisfying, but I know a whole lot of business is gonna go down in Season 3! Maybe to understand the plot a bit more in these first two seasons, you can read part of the novel? The novel, of course, is more in depth about everything. Thank you for reacting to Season 2, now is the wait for the next season.
