As for why was it black and white- I wondered if it was based around the amazing 2 minute long sketch scene? Was the rest black and white so the sketches would more seamlessly blend with it?

2019-11-19 23:04:22 +0000 UTCAmazing last 2 eps :) Btw the clock onboard gunbuster at the end registered 7 days 6hr - not years. So while the fleet could warp home - only the big ships have warp- and time doesn't pass while warping, just when doing high relativistic travel- so gunbuster spent those 7 days at a tiny smidgen under lightspeed all the way home.. Im guessing since hq knew its specs they could calculate roughly when they'd arrive and still remembered all those years later.. Also- I woulda translated Okaerinasai as welcome home personally - tho both are accurate, it seems more fitting.
