The first scene with Todo talking to the reporters was in the past. Shirase's mom was there. When you see Todo and Kanae with the helmets, that's the present. Todo was remembering the past. Also, you are starting to learn why Shirase is my favorite character, even though Hinata is the fan favorite. Shirase is so shy when talking to people, but when she gets mad or passionate she just becomes so assertive. The contrast makes it so funny.
