Blog: Makin' a routine

Hiya, everyone! I'm trying something a little different by turning my occasional progress update posts into a weekly blog. There will be one every week unless it overlaps with another big release (by which I mean, generally the Monthly Damsel). In these blogs, I'll feature work-in-progress sketches and unreleased drawings.

In this instalment, I'd like to show this sketch of Caeda from Fire Emblem in some unusual peril. I had this idea quite some time ago--you can find an early cropped version of it in my initial Damsel Yearbook sketches from a year ago. Then it sat in the vault for a while because I don't know how to draw horses. ^.^; Recently though, I reworked it and I think it's starting to get somewhere.

I'd like to ink and color this sometime soon when I have a bit of time off (more on that below), but I'm not sure how I'd make variants work. After all, the situation kind of precludes the use of most gags. Anyone have any ideas?

In the meantime, I'm working on the deluge of Damsel Yearbook requests that came in late last month. There's actually not that much left to do, but I've been feeling sick again the last few days. Don't worry, I don't think it's anything serious--it's just that it's been incredibly hot for about a week and the AC at my day job... kinda isn't a thing. I don't handle it well.

Fortunately, I don't work there on Fridays (barring overtime) so I've got the next few days to get caught up. Once that's done, I'll send out a notice that you can all submit your June requests. Actually, you can send them in whenever you like, but I'm not going to think about them too hard yet until this batch is done.

There's also the Monthly Damsel! Since Darkness tied with Blaze last month, I figured it would be fun to give Darkness an automatic win this month and instead make the poll about how she should be tied. That poll's going up tomorrow--that's another thing I'm standardizing. Polls will go up on the first Friday of the month (barring cases where that's way too close to the start) and run until the end of the Friday after.

So look forward to all of that, and enjoy the preview! ^.^

Well, that could work for something like a cleave (whether cloth or rope), but I don't think it'd work well with anything else.

First off the weekly blog sounds like a good idea. Since you asked about ideas for Ceada gag variants how does, putting the gag between the reigns so the it holds the reigns in her mouth?
