Unrelated to the comic, my mum is a very observant catholic and when I came out as a lesbian, she didn't believe me, and asked me to fight it. She was really difficult at the beginning and very hostile whenever the topic came up. Over the last couple of years she's gotten more used to the idea, and although she still upsets me sometimes with her views, she is very loving and kind towards my girlfriend and recently added her on fb (which made me cry). I hope you and your dad can find common ground one day xxx

He’s said snide mean comments and he’s hit Jonas once in this comic but other than that we don’t know exactly how “bad” Dean is. Letttt me clarify, I come from a family that is very anti gay and it gets rough, a l o t. But I’ve never doubted how much my parents love me, I know they do but their love is twisted around their homophobic beliefs. I really really relate to Jonas in this comic and I kinda wish we could have more development between him and his dad, to either really push the abusive relationship or to show a father who loves his son, is scared because of his beliefs and has fucked up on how he expressed anger. When he was sitting alone in the dark in last weeks update I cried because it reminded me so much of my dad. I want Dean to have a chance to be redeemed so badly and maybe it’s because I’m pushing myself too much on these characters. Part of why I love long exposure so much is because of how much I relate to the characters. I kinda like to think my dad can come around, helps me push through life haha. Maybe Dean can get better too.
