Summary: Adora gets tattooed by the hottest woman she has ever seen. She tried so hard to be good and completely missed all the signs that this woman was very interested. Adora tries to stay away, but she can't deny the attraction for long.

--

Adora came to visit Catra again the next week and she was incredibly tired from working too hard at the gym yet again. She kept overdoing her workout trying to work out the pent up energy and nothing seemed to help relieve the pressure.

Adora was in a bad mood today. Well, what counted as a bad mood for her. She didn't thank the bus driver on her way into university, she was short with the woman at the cafe on campus and she was stomping around like an elephant. She just couldn't settle the frustration building within her body and the building heat of the weather wasn't helping. Rain was coming but the heat had to break first and Adora was just about ready to lose it.

"Hey Adora," Catra's voice was everything Adora needed when she stepped into the cool air of the tattoo shop. It was like the richest wine or the sweetest honey, filling her chest with warmth. Adora was a little embarrassed to realise that her mood was lifted by those simple words. Her mind gained a laser-like focus centred around the charming brunette.

"Hi," Adora responded and felt her cheeks colour. Catra looked amazing as always but the heat had forced her into something skimpier than usual. Her skirt was barely covering the swell of her backside as she walked and her top looked like nothing more than a bra. Adora was not complaining. Not at all. But she had been painfully horny for over a week now and this outfit was not helping her heart to settle. Adora was almost certain she saw the flash of nipple piercings through Catra's top and Adora would really, really like to see them.

"Have a seat, you look tired" Catra said sitting on her stool to look up at Adora. Adora tried not to audibly gulp but she wasn't sure how successful she was when Catra smirked at her.

Adora quickly took her seat as Catra opened her sketchbook and flicked through it. Adora tried to calm her mind but her body seemed to be reacting to every stimulus. Catra twitching her tail, the soft breeze from the sketchbook page turning, the buzz of a tattoo gun somewhere in another booth all felt like blaring alerts in her brain.

"So, I was thinking of taking a different approach with this design. Maybe add some sexy ladies" Catra said, looking at Adora through her lashes. Adora's brain had already left the building as she opened her mouth without a clue what she was going to say.

"I like sexy ladies" Adora confirmed then made an embarrassed expression which made Catra chuckle.

"Good to know, I do too" Catra confirmed and Adora thanked her lucky stars that Catra was gay. She didn't realise she hadn't really confirmed that until now but it was such a relief to know. Adora would have been so depressed if Catra had turned out to be straight. Even if Adora kept telling herself that she was happy just being friends with her.

"What's your favourite?" Adora asked dumbly and felt herself blush. Catra raised an eyebrow.

"My favourite sexy lady?" Catra asked and Adora shook her head. She did not want to hear about the type of woman Catra thought was attractive. She didn’t think she could handle it if the women she described were nothing like Adora.

"Your favourite tattoo," Adora clarified and Catra smiled.

"Oh, well, it's kinda hard to explain but if I was going to show you I'd have to take my skirt off" Catra said and Adora tried to stop herself from imagining what that would look like.

"O-oh" Adora stuttered as she turned red and Catra laughed.

"But my second favourite is this one," Catra said motioning to the cat's paw print on her chest. Adora tried to ignore Catra’s cleavage as she looked at the tattoo over her heart.

"It's really cute," Adora agreed.

"Thanks, it's for my kitty back home. I move a lot so it was easier to leave them at my mum's, but I miss them" Catra said and Adora smiled at the information.

"You have a cat and you haven't sent me pictures? I thought we were friends!" Adora said playfully but blushed. They weren't friends, she reminded herself, Catra was just doing her job. No matter how much Adora wanted them to be friends.

"You're going to regret giving me permission. I have lots of photos of them," Catra warned and Adora grinned.

"I doubt it. I love kitties. I really like the She-ra sword and mask on the back of your leg, by the way" Adora said, adding her own favourite of Catra's tattoos. Catra's cheeks coloured and Adora felt a small victory making the brunette blush.

"Yeah, it's a great show. It has really good queer and hybrid representation" Catra said like she was defending the show.

"Those things are true, but I mostly watched it for the muscle ladies," Adora said, flexing her arm with a cocky smile. Catra's pupils turned round immediately at the display and Adora wondered what that meant.

"You certainly give them a run for their money" Catra commented a little breathily and Adora shrugged.

"I started lifting in highschool so I could cosplay She-ra. So I'm glad I can still pull off the look," Adora said and Catra grinned.

"I would literally pay money to see you dress up as She-ra," Catra said and Adora blushed a little.

"I'm open to bribes" Adora said smiling and Catra grinned.

"Deal, what's your favourite cupcake flavour?"

"Cupcake flavoured" Adora said and Catra laughed. Maybe Adora could handle more normal conversations after all.

[...]

Adora puffed out a controlled breath as she moved from one set to the next. The air was warm and sticky with the promise of a summer rain on its way if the heat would finally break.

She loved early morning practice. It was much cooler in the early mornings. They were in maintenance right now but once a week she had practice with the team to make sure they were keeping up with their training. She much preferred her usual workout in the air conditioned gym but she enjoyed the camaraderie of being with her team.

The coach, Lucy, called them over once Adora finished her sets and let the team know the next practice date. Everyone got a new workout regime to maintain during the week on their own and Adora read it religiously to ensure she knew exactly what she needed to do.

“Greyskull,” her coach called her and Adora looked up from her papers.

“Yeah?”

“Can I have a word?” Coach asked and Adora nodded even as her team ‘ooo’ed dramatically. Adora tried to not let her stomach drop as she followed her coach away from the team.

“Did I do something wrong?” Adora asked immediately when her coach turned to her.

“What? No, I just wanted to ask you something, without the pressure of the team around,”

“Oh, ok, what is it?”

“You know how Megan is graduating at the end of the semester?” Lucy asked and Adora nodded along.

“Yeah, we planned a going away party for her,” Adora offered and her coach grinned.

“That's great. When she graduates the team captain's position will be open and I was wondering if you would be interested?” she asked and Adora's eyes widened in surprise. She was sure there were better people more deserving of the position on the team.

“Captain? Really? Me?” Adora asked in disbelief.

“Yeah, Greyskull. No one works as hard as you do,” her coach said and Adora frowned in confusion.

“I don’t. I just do what you tell me to do,” Adora defended needlessly.

“Yeah, and that's more than everyone else,” Lucy chuckled.

“Oh, I didn’t realise,” Adora responded, unsure if it was a joke.

“So, what do you think? It would be extra work, but it shouldn’t interrupt your studies at all,” Adora thinks about all the stuff she has to do in and outside of school at the moment. She wonders if she had any time at all to add something else to her plate.

“I can probably do it, can I think about it?” Adora lied, almost certain she cannot actually fit this into her schedule.

“Yeah, just let me know by next practice.” Lucy said and Adora nodded.

“Yeah, cool, totally, I’ll let you know. Thank you for the offer,” Adora said politely.

The coach returned to the team and they were quickly dismissed.

Adora rushed through a shower to get to her first lecture on time as her mind whirled with the possibilities. Captain would be an achievement if she wanted to go pro but she wasn't allowed to do that, was she?

[...]

Adora arrived at her third appointment with Catra holding coffee as an apology for wasting her time on all these appointments. They had been doing a lot of talking without really talking about the tattoo. Adora had loved learning more about Catra and she was starting to believe they might be friends. Adora still felt bad for wasting Catra’s time so she decided bribery worked both ways.

Catra had mentioned a few times by text how she wanted to try a coffee place near her work and Adora thought she was pretty sly to find out Catra's usual coffee order.

Catra was radiant as always, she was wearing a tight black dress that hugged her body but looked so soft to touch and all Adora really wanted to do was touch it.

"What, didn't you get me one?" Catra asked playfully as she saw Adora holding one iced long black in her hand.

"Oh, uh this is for you actually," Adora offered and blushed as Catra raised her eyebrow suspiciously.

"Really?" Catra asked.

"Yeah, you said you wanted to try 'Cream' so I thought I'd get you a coffee to thank you" Adora said and Catra huffed with a smile that made Adora's stomach swoop.

"You're a sweetie" she purred and stepped forward to accept the coffee.

"It's no trouble," Adora said quickly and Catra took the cup. Catra immediately took the cardboard cup cover off the drink and looked at it. Adora didn't notice that the cover was on there or that it was strange to have one on a cold drink.

"I think this is for you" Catra said in a somewhat flat tone and Adora looked down at the cardboard she was offering in her hand. Printed in block letters was a name and phone number for someone called Pam. Weird.

"I don't think that's for me," Adora said quickly and Catra chuckled.

"Well, it's not for me, handsome," Catra concluded and Adora blushed at being called handsome.

"I don't know why that keeps happening" Adora blurted out and Catra raised her eyebrows.

"You don't want it?" Catra asked and Adora shook her head quickly. She didn't need it and she didn't even know what it was for.

Catra smirked a little and dropped the cardboard into the trash.

"Come on, let's get to work," Catra said, motioning for Adora to follow her adorably swaying tail to her booth.

[...]

Adora was working her normal Saturday shift at the cafe. The heat was kept at bay by the little air conditioner working its heart out. It was a welcome reprieve from her own hot apartment and their collection of fans.

Adora was on autopilot at the coffee machine but that didn't mean she wouldn’t make mistakes. She was distracted, which was becoming her new normal as she thought about Catra yet again.

She had an appointment with her Monday morning and Adora was starting to feel a little desperate for contact. She was seriously considering getting anything Catra suggested to her as her next tattooed on her skin just so she could feel that needle again. She felt a little pathetic to be honest. She thought about where to place her tattoo and she was wondering if her inner thigh was too intimate and if she would be able to handle the sight of Catra down there without making a fool of herself.

"Adora, your cup is overflowing" Glimmer's voice pierced through Adora's thoughts and she jolted into action to stop the overflowing coffee.

"Sorry," Adora apologised quickly and started again.

"Maybe you should go on your break, you look like you need it" Glimmer said with concern.

"Nope, I'm fine, thanks though" Adora said, willing herself to stop thinking about Catra.

"Ok, if you're sure," Glimmer said, dropping the subject. Adora was grateful but it was only a matter of time before Catra would invade her thoughts again. She needed to stay vigilant.

[...]

This was a terrible idea.

Adora realised too late that coming to Glimmer’s appointment with her was the worst decision she had ever made. Adora wanted to be a good friend and support Glimmer in her time of need but when Catra stepped out of the back room wearing the comfiest oversized band shirt and tight black shorts Adora realised she was a goner. She wasn’t going to survive this encounter. She wished for a moment she had the forethought to tell Glimmer she could have her collection of Swiftwind plushies before her death.

"Adora, what a surprise" Catra said as her smile flashed sharp fangs and Adora felt herself blushing already.

"Hi," she said shyly and heard Glimmer's soft ‘wow’ beside her. Which was not helping the situation. Catra definitely heard that as her attention moved to Glimmer and Adora tried to force oxygen into her lungs to recover.

"Catra" Catra said as she offered her hand out and Glimmer shook it.

"Glimmer Moon, I have an appointment,'' Glimmer explained and Catra nodded. Adora was probably spending too much brain power trying to work out the band that was on Catra’s shirt and was sure it was one she didn’t know. Catra must like such cool music.

"Great, I'm excited to give an angel like you their wings," Catra flirted. Catra was flirting, this was flirting. Adora knew what pick up lines were and Catra was using one on Glimmer. Adora felt her stomach drop as she watched Glimmer blush at the attention and Adora felt weirdly possessive of Catra. Why couldn’t Catra flirt with her? Was Adora not her type? This sucked. She was going to die for a completely different reason now and this one was just sad.

"Thanks, Adora is here for moral support" Glimmer said, remembering Adora’s existence and Catra looked over to her. Her eyes were lidded and Adora wondered if she was getting enough sleep.

"Isn't that sweet," Catra said and Adora felt herself blush at the low husky lilt of her voice. She could see the grin Glimmer was giving her in the corner of her eye. Glimmer had caught her faster than she expected. Adora was going to get such an earful about this after this appointment.

"Let's get started," Catra said, motioning for them to follow and Adora walked behind Glimmer so she was sure she kept her eyes to herself. She didn’t need to see the back of Catra’s outfit right now.

Glimmer sat in the chair in Catra’s booth and Adora sat on the couch. Something she didn’t consider was her position as Catra perched on her stool and Adora got an absolutely amazing view of her ass. Like, just the best ass she had ever seen. Adora forced herself to look away and her eyes landed on Catra’s sketchbook laying on the couch. She picked it up to find the previous sketches she had done for Adora just to distract herself. Not that those sketches weren’t a little racy as well.

Catra and Glimmer were talking about the tattoo and Catra got Glimmer to get up so she could adjust the chair to make Glimmer more comfortable laying down instead of sitting up. Once they confirmed the details and the location of the stencil Catra started to work.

Adora was burning holes into the sketchbook in an attempt to not look back at Catra but she couldn’t help but look up at Catra’s next question.

"How long have you two been together?" Catra asked and Adora immediately choked on her own spit. She coughed as quietly as she could but it didn’t deter Glimmer from responding.

"Ew, no. We are besties, Bows my man" Glimmer said and Adora was only slightly insulted. The feeling was mutual but she didn’t want Catra to think she was gross. Glimmer was a terrible wingman. Glimmer didn’t know she was meant to be wingmanning right now and Adora didn’t know Glimmer was meant to be wingmanning right now. What was Adora thinking? She came with Glimmer to support her, not hit on Catra.

"Ohh, you're Bow's Glim," Catra responded smoothly and Adora’s eyes forgot that she wasn’t meant to be looking as she ran her eyes down the arched curve of Catra’s back and tried to swallow the sound in her chest as her eyes landed on her plump backside. She was being such a lesbian right now but it had been a frustrating week and while the conversation wasn’t on her she could indulge a little right?

"Yep, Adora and Bow wouldn't stop raving about your tattoo skills, so I figured I should get the experience," Glimmer said and Catra looked over at Adora. She must have seen Adora looking as her eyes snapped back to Catra’s face because she arched one eyebrow at her.

“That’s sweet,” Catra said and Adora felt her cheeks colour under her gaze.

Yes, I’m single. Please flirt with me. Adora tried to communicate her thoughts through her eyes but when Catra turned away she wasn’t sure she was successful.

“Yeah, Adora is a sweetie,” Glimmer said, she wasn’t facing Adora so she couldn’t show her approval of this line of conversation.

Yes, wingman!

“She’s super excited for her next tattoo,” Nooo, not wingman, don’t say that!

“Well I’m excited to give it to her,” Catra said, which in theory was not a sexy thing to say but Catra glanced at Adora right as she finished the sentence and Adora turned bright red in response. Maybe she wasn’t ready for Catra to flirt with her, even if she was just teasing.

[...]

“Adora, seriously, that girl is so into you, you need to ask her out,” Glimmer said as soon as they stepped outside of the shop into the hot summer's day. Adora blush brightly, concerned that Catra might hear them.

“What?! No she's not. She's just being nice,” Adora defended as she quickly walked down the street away from the shop. Glimmer snorted.

“Yeah, nice because she's into you,” Glimmer continued, jogging to keep up with Adora’s long legs as she fled the scene. “Ask her out!”

“I can’t do that, what if you're wrong?” Adora asked in a desperate whine.

“I’m never wrong,” Glimmer said with confidence she shouldn’t have in her own ability to read people.

“Yes you are, you are wrong all the time. Like with Rachel, or Samantha!” Adora said both women Glimmer thought were interested in Adora but when Adora acted on that information she was turned down flat. Adora wasn’t confident about following her advice anymore.

“I maintain Samantha liked you, but you intimidated her,” Glimmer said and Adora groaned.

“That doesn’t matter, Glim! I don’t want to mess this up, and I’m ok with being Catra’s friend if thats all this is,” Adora lied. She wanted to be ok with just being Catra’s friend and she was. Adora would love to be friends with Catra, but she was so attracted to her that it was hard to think when she was around her.

“You strike out on every swing you don’t take!” Glimmer said and Adora blinked at her. She didn’t play baseball and she was sure that Glimmer knew that.

“Glim, I play rugby. I’m not going to dive for a ball just to get kicked in the face,” Adora said using a better analogy which suited her sport.

“I don't understand your barbaric sport,” Glimmer said and Adora rolled her eyes. Glimmer only came to her games to cheer every time Adora did something, but it was clear she didn’t understand the rules at all.

“I’m not going to act! I just…I really like her, ok? If I wait then we can be friends and if my crush lasts then I can gauge her interest when I know her better,” Adora defended with what she believed was a logical argument of why waiting could only help her situation.

“I’m going to ask Bow,” Glimmer sidestepped all logic.

“DO NOT,” Adora said firmly and Glimmer laughed like this was a game.

“Why not? He could ask her, maybe drop some hints,” Glimmer said, her face a calculated expression that Adora was sure meant she wasn’t going to take Adora’s resistance seriously.

“GLIM, I’m serious, don’t do anything,” Adora said firmly and Glimmer waved her hand.

“Fine! I won't do anything,” Glimmer said, not at all convincing Adora that she would do anything of the sort.

“I’m serious,”

“I know! I won't,” Glimmer said and Adora looked at her critically.

“Good, thank you,” Adora said and Glimmer grinned.

“Anytime, bestie,”

[...]

Catra giggled a little when she heard Adora and Glimmer talking about her as soon as they left the shop. It reassured Catra that she was being obvious enough to let Adora know she was interested in her. Catra really hoped that Adora’s friend would convince her to finally make a move on her.

Catra was patient but there were limits to her ability to wait when she wanted something. She was a woman of action and she wanted to show Adora a good time. She wished her stupid business partner wasn’t such a stickler for their rules. Maybe she could convince Lonnie to let her break it just this once. Adora was special, she was sure of it.

Catra returned to her booth and sat down to look at her phone when she noticed three missed calls from Entrapa. Catra frowned and looked up as Lonnie entered Catra’s booth holding her phone.

Bubble successfully burst.

“You should call Entrapta back,” Lonnie said with a concerned look on her face that made Catra’s stomach drop.

“Oh…” Catra said and looked back at her phone before she clicked to call Entrapta back. The phone only rang once before Entrapta answered.

“Catra, how are you?” Entrapa asked, she was clearly on speaker phone in her lab because of the way her voice vibrated in a tinny echo.

“I’m ok 'Traps, how are you?” Catra asked as she watched as Rogelio and Kyle came into her booth to join Lonnie. If they felt like they had to be there to support her then this was some really bad news.

“Busy, but I had a ping and thought I should let you know,” Entrapta said and Catra’s stomach sank further at the news.

“O-oh, was it close?” Catra asked and Entrapa’s voice came closer to the phone.

“Scorpia is in your city right now. I am unsure if she knows where you live but her phone hasn’t been near your apartment yet,” Entrapa said and Catra squeezed her eyes closed for a moment at the reminder of why she didn’t date clients.

Catra dated Scorpia years ago and after a few dates Catra wasn’t feeling a spark so she called it off. It took months before Catra realised she had a stalker and the only thing that tipped her off was someone leaving things outside her house. In hindsight she always felt like she was being watched when she was out in public and started getting texts from unknown numbers so there were signs. Catra had moved cities away from her family just to get away, and did everything she could to keep her location a secret now.

“Thanks 'Traps, can you keep an eye on it? I pay extra for my apartment to not have a lease so I can move if she finds me,” Catra offered.

“I will keep you posted but the shop might be harder to conceal,” Entrapta said and Catra thanked her before they ended the call. Catra sighed and looked at Lonnie, Kyle and Rogelio.

“So,” Catra started and Lonnie crossed her arms.

“So,” Lonnie repeated.

“How do you feel about moving?” Catra asked and Lonnie shrugged nonchalantly.

“We are outgrowing this shop and it wouldn’t be that big of a deal,” Lonnie said and Catra nodded her head slowly. It was true, four artists was a lot for this little building.

“Exactly, new shop feeling!” Kyle said and Rogelio nodded silently.

“Thanks guys,” Catra said, trying to hide how much the sentiment meant to her.

“Don’t mention it,” Lonnie said, leaving her booth again and Kyle and Rogelio soon followed.

Catra sat back against her tattoo chair and sighed deeply. Scorpia being in town really added a whole headache to Catra’s life. The shop wasn’t hard to find, and Catra went from the shop straight home almost every day. It was going to be hard to not lead Scorpia straight to her.

[...]

Adora arrived for her appointment and she seemed to be vibrating with energy. Today the weather finally broke and the summer rain washed the heat from the city.

Adora arrived in the shop with an umbrella and she was a little wet. Adora was wearing workout clothing which Catra had come to realise was pretty normal for her. She was wearing tight shorts that hugged her thighs and Catra had to be mindful to not admire too long.

“Hey Adora, staying dry?” Catra asked and Adora blushed as Catra smirked.

“Hey Catra,” Adora replied but didn’t respond to her question, which was interesting, as she put her umbrella into the stand inside the door.

“Do you need a towel?” Catra asked instead and Adora shook her head.

“I’m good, just my shoes are wet, but they’ll dry,” Adora said and Catra nodded.

“Great, come with me,” Catra motioned for Adora to follow her. Catra was wearing another pair of shorts with a crop top and an oversized flannel to keep herself warm as the temperature dropped from the rain. It was cute enough but not really her best work.

Adora sat down on the chair once they got into the booth and Catra sat on her stool as she flicked open her sketchbook to the right page and presented her sketch. It was a simple heart shape of First One's writing that said Heart. Adora looked surprised and excited to see it. It was simple and interesting and it showed her love for nerdy history things.

“Wow, I love it. That's the one,” Adora said confidently as she took the sketchbook to look at the design. Catra grinned with delight at her victory. Adora’s rejection of Catra’s sketches made her seriously wonder if Adora was just using this as an excuse to visit her. That had been wishful thinking apparently.

“Awesome. I knew we would get there, have you got an idea of where you want it?” Catra asked and Adora bit her full lower lip.

“Um, I was thinking maybe my thigh?” Adora said, her cheeks colouring. Catra looked down at Adora’s formidable thighs and the way they pushed against her shorts like they were seeking freedom.

“We can do that. On the outside? Which side would you like?” Catra asked and Adora blushed before she opened her legs.

“I was thinking the inner thigh, on my right leg,” Adora said and Catra looked at the softer part of Adora’s muscular thigh. She tried not to make a sound, attempting to be professional as she imagined being crushed between her thighs.

“That's going to hurt a lot,” Catra warned and watched Adora bite her lip like the idea excited her.

“I know, I can handle it,” Adora said and Catra bit her lip as she considered her words. The last time Adora got a tattoo she had clearly enjoyed it. Catra wondered what her motivation for this tattoo was. Adora hadn’t been sure what she wanted up until now and she wasn’t able to offer much guidance for Catra to follow. That wasn’t completely unheard of but it was unusual enough to stand out. Catra wondered if Adora wanted the tattoo at all.

“We can do that, but can I ask you something first?” Catra asked, looking from Adora’s thigh back to her face to see her pink cheeks.

“Sure,” Adora agreed as she fidgeted nervously with her hands.

"What made you want to get another tattoo?" Catra asked and Adora flushed bright red.

"I don't know...I just...like the feeling..." Adora said in a small voice and Catra took a careful breath to slow her excited heart.

"Oh, really? You know there are other ways to get that feeling, right?" Catra asked, keeping her voice as a whisper to mimic Adora’s tone.

"Like what?" Adora asked, looking genuinely curious. She was so cute.

"Well...I can't really talk about it at work..." Catra said in a leading tone and Adora perked up.

"Oh, do you want to get ice cream?" Adora asked and Catra grinned.

"YES, I mean, yes, when are you free?" Catra asked, her heart fluttering as Adora blushed and smiled shyly in response to her excitement.

It felt like a relief and a victory after so long of waiting for Adora to finally ask her out. Catra was excited too because if she was right and Adora was a masochist then it would be Catra’s absolute pleasure to introduce her to a whole new world of fun.

"O-ok, c-cool, does Saturday afternoon work for you?" Adora asked shyly.

“That’s perfect,”

[The End,

lol,

Just kidding. 😆]
