Chapter 7+8 - Preview of One Piece: Reincarnated as Rimuru Tempest

Chapter 7: The Power of Naming: More Than Just a Strength Boost

...

"Rimuru-sama!" Nami burst into the captain's cabin, her eyes gleaming like gold doubloons.

It was nightfall, and she had finally finished counting the plundered treasure. "Six million Berries! And a mountain of gold and jewels! If we sell it all, we'll have at least ten million!"

Ten million Berries was a king's ransom in the East Blue, enough to buy half of Arlong, figuratively speaking.

But Rimuru wasn't particularly interested in wealth. He could empty any nation's treasury undetected if he wished. He had a more pressing experiment in mind.

Earlier that day, he had questioned the Great Sage about the possibility of naming humans in this world, just as he had named monsters in his own. The answer had been affirmative. Naming, in this world, could trigger profound changes in humans, sea kings, and even inanimate objects. The expended magicules could be replenished by absorbing ambient energy or devouring other beings.

“I bestow upon you the name ‘Nami the Navigator’!” he declared.

Huh?

A wave of warmth washed over Nami. She could feel her body changing, growing stronger in ways she couldn't comprehend.

Her strength, stamina, reflexes, everything amplified a hundredfold! She felt like she could punch a fish-man clear across the island!

But it wasn't just physical. Her mind felt sharper, clearer. Complex navigational charts and equations she had once struggled with now seemed elementary. Her intuition, her very understanding of the world, had undergone a fundamental shift.

“Whoa! So… big!”

While Nami focused on her newfound power and clarity, Rimuru was captivated by a different kind of transformation. He had assumed he'd have to wait two years to witness Nami's… ahem… famous physique. He'd forgotten that naming not only enhanced physical abilities but also molded the body to reflect its ideal form.

Rip!

The East Blue sun was relentless. Nami, in her pre-timeskip form, was already petite. The sudden, dramatic increase in certain… assets…

proved too much for her simple shirt and shorts. The fabric strained, then tore, leaving little to the imagination. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

"This… this feeling! This power!" Nami exclaimed, oblivious to her wardrobe malfunction, excitedly punching the air.

The force of her casual jab sent a nearby stack of books tumbling to the floor. It was clear that a single punch from her could now be lethal.

"It's a special ability of mine," Rimuru explained, admiring the view. "It grants a significant power boost, but it's a one-time thing. Further growth will depend on your own training."

He handed her the manuals on Haki and Rokushiki. "With your current strength, you should be more than a match for the common fish-man. A few days of training with me, and revenge will be within your grasp."

“Thank you, Rimuru-sama!” Overwhelmed with gratitude, Nami threw her arms around Rimuru, planting a kiss on his cheek. Defeating Arlong had been her sole ambition; the thought of personal revenge had been a distant dream. Rimuru had given her the power to make that dream a reality. Her affection for him soared.

Oof! Not so tight!

Can't… breathe…

“Oh! Sorry! Wait… what happened to my body?!” As her excitement subsided, Nami finally noticed her changed physique. Her cheeks flushed crimson. She stumbled back, mortified. It wasn't bad, per se… just… incredibly sudden! And… ample.

Rimuru feigned seriousness. “Uh… let’s just say it’s a side effect of the power boost. You buyin’ it?”

“Yeah, right!” Instead of fleeing in embarrassment, Nami, after a moment of stunned silence, took a bold step forward. "Well, if you like it, Rimuru-sama, I suppose it's fine. But… do you still mean what you said earlier?"

“Hmm? What was that?” Rimuru asked innocently, deliberately avoiding her gaze.

Nami blushed even deeper, her voice barely a whisper. "About… about being your… wife?"

Seeing her on the verge of exploding from embarrassment, Rimuru decided to relent.

He picked up a slice of watermelon, casually changing the subject. With a discreet wave of his hand, an invisible barrier enveloped the cabin, isolating them from the outside world.

Chapter 8: Nami's Fury: Cocoyasi Village

...

One week later…

As the island came into view, a massive bull-like sea king surfaced, blocking their path. The crew panicked, scrambling to turn the cannons towards the beast. Then, Nami's voice cut through the chaos.

"That's Momoo, Arlong's pet sea cow! We have to kill it before it warns him!"

Nami launched herself into the air, her lithe form a blur against the sky. She raised her leg, unleashing a blade of compressed air.

Rankyaku!

Simultaneously, the ship's cannons roared to life.

Boom! Boom! Boom!

Moo!

The sea king shrieked in pain, massive wounds appearing on its hide. It tried to dive, but Nami wouldn't let it escape.

Shigan!

A piercing blast of air punched through Momoo's skull. The sea cow went belly up.

"Amazing!"

"Yeah! She's a beast!"

"She's already mastered Moonwalk, Shigan, and Rankyaku! I can barely do one!"

"I heard the Captain can boost people's strength. I'm too dumb to learn Rokushiki. Maybe he'll choose me next."

"That idiot last month tried to get the Captain's blessing. Failed the test and got tossed overboard. You? Don't even dream about it. Stick to your Rokushiki manual."

As Momoo's carcass bobbed in the waves, the crew cheered for Nami.

“Rimuru-sama! Cocoyasi Village is just ahead!” Nami shouted excitedly, pointing towards a small island in the distance. "I can see the Cocoyasi islands!”

With a graceful leap, she landed back on the ship, executing a perfect backflip in mid-air. Over the past week, Nami had trained relentlessly, honing her skills with Haki and Rokushiki.

The naming had not only boosted her physical abilities but also amplified her learning capacity a hundredfold. She had mastered the basics of Rokushiki in a week and even grasped the fundamentals of Armament and Observation Haki.

Conqueror's Haki, however, remained elusive. It was an innate ability, and the manual only provided guidance for those who already possessed it.

Nami had also sparred regularly with Rimuru and Ranga, though she still ended up on the losing side. However, she had progressed from being defeated in one move to lasting a minute or two, a feat that filled the crew with awe, considering that the entire Rizaho Pirates crew hadn't lasted half a minute against Rimuru. Nami was now brimming with confidence, eager to confront Arlong and his crew.

The Great Sage's announcement echoed in Rimuru's mind.

Looking at Nami, eager for revenge, Rimuru recalled Arlong's fate in the original story. Despite his crimes, he hadn't died at Luffy's hands. Even Hatchan had survived.

"You take on Arlong," Rimuru instructed. "Ranga and I will surround Arlong Park. No Fish-man escapes. Show no mercy. Annihilate them."

“I won’t!” Nami’s eyes burned with fury. “I’ll make him regret ever setting foot in Cocoyasi Village! No… regret ever being born!”

Rimuru didn't comment. He understood her rage. Arlong had taken her mother and terrorized her village for years. There would be no mercy.

Turning to the crew, who were busy hauling in Momoo's carcass, Rimuru gave further instructions. "Process the sea king. We'll have a feast tonight. Keep a close watch and contact me immediately if anything happens."

"Aye, Captain!"

Leaving a Transponder Snail behind, Rimuru and Nami mounted Ranga. With a powerful leap, the giant wolf bounded across the waves, heading towards the Cocoyasi islands.

The ship was less than a kilometer from the islands. It wasn't long before the villagers noticed the approaching vessel.

"A… a ship?"

"Is it the Marines? No, it's a pirate flag!"

"More pirates! Oh god, someone save us!"

"Run to the mountains! There's going to be a battle!"

Panic spread through Cocoyasi Village as people fled towards the safety of the hills.

On a hillside overlooking the village, Nojiko sighed as she watched the approaching ship. She was about to join the fleeing villagers when she noticed a figure moving rapidly across the water. Raising her telescope, she gasped. The figure was too familiar.

“N-Nami?”

No way!

But it was. And she wasn't alone. A giant wolf and another figure accompanied her, heading straight towards Arlong Park.

Without hesitation, Nojiko turned and ran towards Arlong Park, a growing sense of dread and anticipation in her heart.
