Miriilandra didn't need to speak in order to attempt a Spirit Call! Of course, why didn't she think of this sooner?
She had only tried it once, at the conservatory and nearly fainted. It might not be of much practical help right now but it would at least give the two lovers a moment alone together and would let Bora know that she hadn't given up and was fighting for her, in her own way.
Mirii closed her eyes and focused on the memory of her lover. The idea of her. She remembered how her skin felt to the touch. She remembered how Bora smelled of sweat and earth and mountain flowers. She remembered how her heartbeat sounded deep and steady whenever Mirii laid her head on her breast. She remembered how her chest would rise and fall and gently rock Mirii into a deep slumber whenever she fell asleep in Bora's arms...
The noise around Miriilandra faded to a low hum.
She could smell sweat and earth and desert flowers.
She could hear a deep and steady heartbeat.
-"Mirii? Is that you?"
