I'm sharing these three images (see the slideshow) because I think this is very interesting. In the first image, I snapped a quick candid shot of Ruxpin in my robe, thought she looked gorgeous, and asked her to keep playing with that look and to do some actual poses. And this girl does such beautiful and inspiring poses! But, looking back, I realized my favorite shot from this mini-series was the first one, where she wasn't even posing yet. She wasn't thinking about the image-making. She was just existing, being her naturally beautiful self and not even trying.
Ruxpin is an experienced model (even though I'm the only one she's done nudes for), but I shoot with many girls who have never posed at all before, and they often experience how simple it all can be. Exhausting, yes, but comfortable. It's not so much about trying to put out an image. It's just existing, loving yourself and connecting with your surroundings.
