As physical exercise is good for the physical body—our muscle tone, respiratory system, etc.—so can the art made with our physical bodies be good exercise for our self-image, and I want to make sure that message is coming across in my work. Everyone has a body, after all, and how we view ourselves directly impacts how we treat others.
If someone tells me that my images do a disservice to them, in how they see themselves and others, I want to listen to them, and make the necessary adjustments. After all, back when I first really saw and appreciated artistic nude imagery, it had a powerful effect in pacifying the unrealistic passions of my youth, deflating the damaging excesses of misdirected lust, and enabling me to become active in the humanitarian causes where I was needed, and had previously been blind to. Nude art changed my life, and helped me help others. I never expected I would be called to perform the same service for my fellow man, but now that is the mission set before me. It’s both a joy and a job, a freedom and a duty. So with a smiling hug and with grief-stricken solemnity alike, I welcome your stories. I want to hear the honest truth of the impact that this kind of imagery makes.
