Monthly Update
Added 2020-09-02 03:11:12 +0000 UTCSorry for posting so late, I had a pretty rough day. But I wanted to make a quick announcement about a slight change in Patreon rewards.
From now on, patrons will have two months to claim their prompt rewards. That means if you've yet to send me your request for August's prompt, you have until the end of September before it goes away.
This is mainly being done to keep my benefits page clean so I can better keep track of recent prompts that are due, rather than allowing old rewards that have never been claimed from taking up space. I try my best to remind everyone when they have prompts available, but at this point there are just so many of you. I know in this day and age we all have a lot of subscriptions and whatnot that it can be hard to track them all, but at some point you've got to be responsible for yourself.
Mostly, as one might guess, this isn't a problem with the higher tiers. When you spend a lot of money, you tend to remember where it's going, so you all are doing great. It's mostly a 500-word tier issue. Speaking of which, I am considering eventually phasing those out entirely. You won't have to worry about that for awhile, since I likely won't even do that until the end of the year, but it's an appealing idea to me. I've struggled with ideas about what to reasonably offer in a $5 tier, and I think come January I might just remove the prompt reward and leave it up as a pure donation tier for those who like me enough to want to give more than $1. It's a thought anyways.
Patreon, in its purest form, I think ought to exist as a place for fans to donate to their favorite creators rather than treat it as a storefront for an exchange of goods. But I've never been 100% comfortable with just asking people to support me without anything in return, hence the prompts. But I've certainly learned a lot in this past year of running this page, and I've still got a lot more to learn.
Either way, thanks for reading and have a good one. My DMs are open for any questions.
