Entertaining Curiosity

Sometimes, when I make larger photo sets available to backers who donate extra, or when I create print sets and games featuring my images, it incites curiosity regarding how much skin will show, or how provocative the models get. And I wanted to address my approach to such questions.

From the outset, after all, my primary motivation in shooting has been about the impact it has on those I shoot with, at the time of shoot and beyond: hoping for long-term holistic benefits for them. I want them to connect with themselves and with God through the experience, in ways that inspire joy, responsibility, freedom, courage, and everything else that can come from a whole-person experience engaging mind and body and emotion and soul.

So if the personal benefit for that person connects with their specific body parts (the model learning to normalize nipples, or understand the sanctity of her vagina, or accept her post-pregnancy stomach, or come to terms concerning which things she wants publicly viewable and which things she wants saved for a small number of people)—and if she's permitted me to disclose that part of her story—then I'll be more free to get into such specifics.

And if it's a context where I believe the audience may need some kind of warning before seeing the imagery, to honor the viewers' diverse moral boundaries, then I'll also be more specific about what level of skin-showing or provocation lies behind the veil.

Outside these two purposes, however, I'd really rather focus less on what body parts are showing, and remind patrons (and prospective buyers of my publications) what my priorities and philosophies are. I'm not here to make porn and I'm not here to exploit. I'm here to promote nudity as a metaphor for honesty, and to help the models be honest with themselves as incarnate people. And what humble funds my investors and customers bring to account is only for facilitating my ability to offer this art-therapeutic experience to more people. I could give in to the temptation to greed, making the human body a commodity, but this would defy everything I stand for, and why I got into this work.

Finally, I think the fact that I post full nudity at all tier levels, including the bottom tier, is sufficient evidence that no one should expect to see more skin by sending more money. When I price something, I base it on the amount of work, time, and other expenses that have gone into creating that thing.
