Progress Report, 03/02 - 23

Why are we here?

Hello everyone and welcome to a brief progress report!

Comic is making strides, with the intermission now also sorted in terms of renders. My new GPU absolutely churns through rendering like butter compared to my previous one, so the process has been much less painful than it was previously. It is my hope that I'll be able to start drip-feeding comic pages again starting next week, now that all the catching up I did in January has ended.

The Ivy project is still underway as well, where I've considered something of a smaller preamble to it, just to set the scene - though I am still missing a voice actress for her, and ladies who sound like our dear Ivy is few and far between, that much is certain. I might have to send out my first casting call ever, just to see if there's anyone out there specifically geared for the role.

The GPU change has, so far, seemingly gone smoothly - though the damn thing was significantly larger than the retailer specified, I none the less made it fit in my chassis. So far it's been working like a charm, and it keeps temperatures incredibly well, so there appears little cause for worry in terms of overheating or similar. My cable management tends to be pretty decent so airflow is solid, though I endeavor to keep an eye on it none the less - it's a hell of a lot of money in one of those bricks, at the end of the day.

Most crucially though for you, my backers, is the significant, and I mean significant, difference in render times and scene loads. Whereas my 1660 struggled to portray two of Rigid's models in a singular scene, my 4070 appears to absolutely shrug at 4 of them. I've been poking and prodding away at the load, seeing how much is feasible, but I would wager that it's not impossible that we'll see the return of larger, multi-girl scenes with this - time restraints and everything taken into account, of course. Regardless, I think you'll notice a difference soon enough in terms of my scene setups, and I might just, perish the thought, begin to try some Cycles rendering while I'm at it. A whole new world, and all that.

Thank you, so incredibly much, for your continued support and for all of your kind words. It's thanks to you and the generous donations I've received that I'm not only able to make all this stuff, but that I've been able to upgrade my rig to facilitate even more of it. It's truly looking like I might be able to, one day, make this my full-time occupation, which is a thought as shocking as it is exciting. Not to mention a relief - this body of mine is not getting any younger, that is for sure.

On that note, take care of yourselves, and each other!
