Progress Report, 29/04 - 23

Hello everyone and welcome to another in the line of progress reports!

A little late this one, so my apologies for that. Friday turned out a supremely hectic day where I've, on short notice, been invited to family birthday celebration this weekend as well as a wedding mid-week next week, which required some rather extensive preparations. Most noteworthy, getting my car into shape to ferry me some 3000km in total. It's nothing that will interfere with the update schedule otherwise, save for perhaps Wednesday's wallpaper, but I endeavor to have that sorted during Tuesday and make a cheeky scheduling for Wednesday morning if all goes well.

Needless to say it's been a stressful week, but I've still managed to get some work done. Ivy project is the primary focus at the moment, with some model work also resolved - a Helena Harper model is prepped and ready, while I'm working on seeing how a Bayonetta (which has been highly requested) one will shape up. The new schedule is also starting from next week onward, so I'm considering something of a smaller experimental piece for Monday to test some Cycles rendering out, but we'll see how much time I'm afforded this weekend for such ambitions. Speaking of:

New Update Schedule!

For emphasis, those of you who missed the 2-week long poll and the elaboration I made a week back, the new schedule starts in May and means a 3 animations per month update basis. This will consist of 2 normal animation loops and 1 more ambitious one. As a rule, the first 2 Mondays of a month will feature the normal loops so that I can cram as much work as I can into the last 1 remaining, which will release towards the end of the month and not necessarily on a Monday. The Alley Crew ($10 tier) retain their 2 polls per month, but has had character and theme cooldowns doubled for the purposes of getting more variation - I'll be monitoring the results closely as to make sure the increase is sufficient or if I have to increase them further.

I'm still unsure what to call the "more ambitious work" animations, but I reckon they could fit the bill of the old "Scenarios" idea I had a while back, so let's go with that for now.

But I digress, work continues, so thank you, as always, for your continued support and for all of your kind words - I cannot emphasize enough how I wouldn't be able to do this without your support. I'm excited to see how the new schedule will turn out as well, as more frequent project work of mine has been heavily requested I hope that it'll serve to bridge the gap between larger projects in that sense. If anything, I hope it'll still the nerves of those who wanna see more of that creampie action - and hey, to be fair I think most of us do, at the end of the day.

Take care of yourselves, and each other, and drive safely out there!

Indeed, the current compromise will allow me to gauge just how much work I can do on a 2-week basis, which can more easily be extrapolated to what I could accomplish on a monthly basis. The reason I set to having a regular, weekly update schedule in the first place was for fear of the various factors of project scope, time, motivation etc ending up in such a way where I'd simply be making something every second or third month with nothing in between. A creator's curse is the inability to work on something small to pad out your content with while working on something large without feeling that you should, really, be spending that time working on that larger thing - never mind the backers that will, emphatically, tell you this directly as well. The weekly updates thus have, while no doubt having its own stressors, in some way enabled me to feel some semblance of peace when it comes to my larger projects as I've felt that I've been providing something even when time's dragged out, or I cancel something, or whatever the case. That said, the regular updates need not strictly be in the form of loops, and I'll be monitoring and experimenting with how much leverage 2 weeks will grant me, come up with some manner of suitable work flow, check people's response to the content form, and then see if that opens up any new avenues.

I like the idea of the scenarios returning, as a monthly type of endeavor. Because as it stood, they were too ambitious for loops, too small for large projects, and were kinda hanging in there, in some quantum state. I'd honestly prefer it if scenarios took the place of loops entirely, either as bi-weekly, or monthly projects, depending on the scope. Or you could alternate, who knows. But I guess that is something for future you to figure out, some point down the line.

Hopefully we get a busty liara pic or animation been awhile.
