"Welcome back, soldier. Anything out of the ordinary?"

"Thank you, sir. No, sir."

"Judging by how long you all took in that damn cart, I am inclined to believe you. Are they allowed to proceed?"

"Yes, sir."

"Open it up!"

The cart moved down the tracks on rickety wheels, the gate soon coming down with a metallic creak and a bounce behind it before settling in the middle of the road. The soldiers watched it go, shared a single look that their commanding officer could not read - if anything owing to the helmets - and got back to work, hailing down and inspecting the next carriage.

She had promised that she'd be back, and Shinra soldiers did not lack the discipline needed to wait.

So wait they would.

Thank you, as always, for your continued support and for all of your kind words. Rain keeps falling, whether it's a fine mist or a relentless hammering against our windows, with floodings having become a problem in parts of the country. At least my road to work is still intact, though with the rivers occasionally swelling it remains to be seen how long that will last.
