Unintended Update

Okay, so, people naturally want to know what's happening next with Unintended Cultivator. Mostly, when will the next chapter drop. I went back and forth on this with myself. On the one hand, I literally haven't had a day off since sometime in late April. On the other hand, superstitious writer Eric was like, "Don't. Screw. With. The. Magic."

In the end, I decided I'm going to take a couple days off. So, a new UC chapter will probably drop sometime late on the 4th or early on the 5th. Some of it is just to give myself a mental break. Some of it is to firm up plotting points for Vol. 3. And some of it is to get some things done for the publisher so, you know, Vol 1 can actually be published in ebook, paperback, and audiobook form. I'm not sure if I ever made an official announcement, but I signed a deal with Shadow Alley Press to publish Unintended Cultivator, Vol 1. There's no exact dates yet, but it'll be sooner than later. I'll let you know what when I know.

None of that is to say that there won't be any UC content over the next two days. Will Wight did this thing with his Cradle books where he wrote "blooper" versions of scenes from the books. I'm thinking that I'd like to something similar. So, if you have a particular scene that you'd like to see blooper-ized, leave a comment below.

I'm also going to give all of my patrons an early look at a few chapters of something I've been working on in little fits and starts for a while now. It's called Stormbreak, and it's a bit like a mix between Simon R. Green's Nightside books and film noir/hard boiled detective novels. You're certainly not obligated to read it and it hasn't been edited yet, so expect a few more grammar errors and typos, but some general feedback would be welcome.

I'll also be commissioning some new art for you guys. I may do another poll about what or who the artwork should be, but feel free to sound off in the comments below.

Those are really awesome choices! Now I'm getting hyped for the Audiobook version lol

Mortamir

Yeah, but they were already written. Just needed a bit of light editing. So, that wasn't like churning out 4000 words of new content.

Eric Dontigney

You say that and then you post not one but three chapter! :3

Nathan Camussi

He would have been my first choice, but he's basically infinitely unavailable. Other people on my list included Michael Kramer, Luke Daniels, and Adam Verner. Let's just say, I'm not holding out a lot of hope that I'll be able to get any of those guys.

Eric Dontigney

Just a heads up then. Type "worst narrator litrpg reddit" on google, you'll probably find some clues on who to avoid lol. The awesome ones like Travis Baldree is probably not possible since the guy is super in demand.

Honestly, it's less about preference and more about availability. I have narrators I like, and my publisher has reached out to them. In the end, though, it's really going to be about who has open time in their schedule when the publisher wants to schedule them to record. I'll have some input about which narrator it is, but that's going to be based on the samples they send in, which - again - depends on their availability.

Eric Dontigney

I feel like the more serious the scene, the funnier it would be to blooper it. So how about Falling Leaf's transformation?

ScarletIce

Do you already have a narrator in mind for the audiobook?

Mortamir

Get yourself some rest. Maybe you mess with the magic by becoming a healthier human being but ye' know... that's not such a bad thing either. As for bloopers, I kind of picture stuff with Falling Leaf mostly. Either the first time she talks and it turns out she's a man with a Michael Clark Duncan voice or a really screeching Jersey Shore accent and everyone is like "holy shit, lets stop that nonsense before it starts." Maybe Sen brings his loaf of bread back to grandma Lu and she slaps on an officer's cap and claps him in irons as part of an elaborate sting operation on behalf of the Eternally Rising Loaf Sect?

Valderan

Ooh, Simon Green is always fun! Looking forward to that too

Nim

Blooper ideas -Abandoned town, the beast leader just outright kills Sen. Feng kills all beasts ever. The end. - Uncle Kho finally catches Falling Leaf with a series of common cat distractions (cardboard boxes, etc.) - Grandma never explains the birds and the bees to Sen and he lives his life as a cliche harem protagonist.

Thransk

Get some time off and rest up.

Take care Eric!

Akki

Thanks for the update, it is important that you take breaks and care for yourself!
