🚨SPOILERS AHOY!🚨
Since The Last Progress Report (...which you can read here!) I've been to San Francisco, Houston, Miami and Houston (again), doing end-of-the-year promo for #Hockey. Also, there was an update! The eighth comic of Year Four. Honestly Haus 2.0 felt more like Dib Flip 2.0?? Edited to Add: OH YEAH and I've been working on the cover for Sticks & Scones, the next compilation book from First Second!
Comic 4.9 Whiskey. Patrons have seen a lot of Whiskey already. While I continue sharing progress on future comics with you all here, I'm sharing a step-by-step on the process of making Whiskey here.

One intense boy.

Color styling this page has been....an ordeal. @_@ Night time scenes require a completely new palette!
WHERE ARE WE NOW? Good question.
Last progress report!

Where I'm at now:

So I'm coloring the comic about Whiskey! And thumb-nailing the first comics of Bitty's spring semester.
Comics 4.14, 4.15, and 4.16 are all 🚨Spoilers!🚨 comics that take place in Madison, GA. As much as I enjoy rendering the Haus, drawing Jack and Bitty in new environments is always an exciting challenge. (Bitty's house is so cute?) But not just Bitty's home--GUYS, I had to do so much research on hardware-y things? How to refinish a deck? Orbital sanders?

This hardware scene was actually fairly soothing to draw. Lots of details. I listened to 2 entire podcasts while drawing and inking this.

Jack wishing he could disappear, Bitty affronted, Suzanne trying her best to remind Bitty About How Things Work Around Here

A hug.
At times I'm wary of spoiling things for patrons, because then you as readers won't get to discover the completed image and scene in the comic. But alas, that's why you've chosen to be patron. You don't mind seeing how the sausage is made. With that in mind, Comic 4.16 is very short, but it features some cuddling. Here's the line work.

FINE JUST TAKE THE WHOLE PAGE.
Did I mention that Jack and Bitty wrestle often? Because Jack is playful and communicates through physicality? And because Bitty is ticklish and easy to throw around? (Bitty hardly initiates these bouts.) Jack and Bitty in Bitty's childhood room, whispering and giggling is something that happens, and it was very fun to draw.
Spring Semester. I'm...starting the last half of Check Please: Year Four?
If you have any questions about the writing process or comic making process, organization or work flow, about Bitty and Jack or anything really, please feel free to ask below! Thank you!
