Behind The Scenes: Graduating?

☆ This week! I finished drawing Check Please? That is, I finished the roughs--the pencils--and all I have left to do is ink, letter, and color.I'll still be working on Check Please for MONTHS, and doing Check Please related art for YEARS. (Kickstarters, blog posts, promo material, making merchandise.) But the main comic! I have a few more months of working on it!

☆ ANIME BOSTON is next-next weekend. I'll be spending next week prepping for that. And for some real-real behind-the-scenes, I'm actually doing a college talk right after Boston. I'll share my presentation on comics and webcomics with patrons!

This pecan pie took me about.....half an hour to ink? Why oh why must Bitty be obsessed with this delicious southern fare.

I made progress on the roughs for Ollie + Wicky + Bitty! 

To draw these hockey seniors, I had to spend a ton of time referencing college graduation photos....particularly, I used photos from the yale class of 2018....had to get them robes right!

Spoilers! Bitty actually graduates....and his parents go to graduation. AND THEY'RE PROUD.

SO! I got a ton of drawing done this week. I'm pretty pleased with the progress, and looking forward to getting more line art done before Anime Boston.

Ransom: You know what they say! Socialize Sleep or Study, choose two?
Bitty: Bake and Bake?
Ransom: 😐

(To be fair, all Ransom and Shitty did was socialize and sleep because they didn't have to study)

Jack: aren't you going to study
Shitty: (takes off pants) YUP. time to light up and churn out this term paper
Holster: aren't you going to study?
Ransom: (confused) But I paid attention in lecture?
Jack: aren't you going to study?
Bitty: (confused) But I baked a pie?
Jack: Bittle, what?

Don't mind Bitty just lacing up not-hockey skates. (shrug) No big deal. Anyway, how are you?

Bitty....standing...But where is he standing???? It was fun returning to Bitty's original character design! That is, it was fun drawing Bitty a bit smaller and with his original haircut.

Bitty, partaking in the time-honored tradition that every Samwell men's hockey senior must undergo....That's Pacer Wicks in the foreground and all of the underclassmen in the back...

I'm not crying, you're crying. Well, Bitty is crying. We're all crying.
