Making A Book (Y4!) & Other Progress

Talks & Virtual Visits 🎤

Last month, I did about three(?) virtual visits and talks with libraries and high schools. I'm fortunately super used to Zoom demos by now!

Check, Please! Year Four Kickstarter: Back Matter! 📘

• I'M DONE....WITH THIS BOOK.
• Writing and illustrating back matter for the Check, Please! books is always trickier than it seems. That extra content requires revision and I'd like any of the illustrations I'm adding to be thoughtful. BUT IT'S FINALLY DONE. AAHHH.

Madison: Still Goin'

Most of this last week was dedicated towards finishing up Year Four, so not much Madison progress. I did manage to finally thumbnail some of the intimate scenes between Jack and Bitty. Makin' out in a truck!

Chirpbook Update 🐤

The books are at the warehouse! Which means it's time to get the sticker sheet and print set ready to go.

Protein Saga 🥩

That "Eat More Protein" sticker inspired a very important episode in the life of ~ Bitty & Jack ~.

Jack: Happy Birthday, Bits.
Bitty: HONEY, I told you not to get me anythi—
Jack: It's 50 pounds of protein powder.
Jack: I had to get it from a warehouse.
Jack: Get this. Apple-pie flavored.

Bitty takes one bite and immediately turns to dust. Instant cardiac arrest.  Bitty pays Ransom and Holster to dump the powder into a river and all the fish and surrounding fauna get super buff. (That's how protein powder works, of course.) A month later:

Jack: i was out for a run and you wouldn't believe it: I saw a deer with abs?
Bitty: they'll have abs sometimes yes
Jack: so the protein powder down in our storage space in the basement. Is it running low? It's been a year.
Bitty: Ah....no. There's plenty down there.
Bitty: I just go down there and scoop up whatever I need! So tasty!
Jack: I haven't seen you make a smoothie in a while?
Bitty:
Bitty: I do, I just make them very quickly and drink them really quickly
Jack: okay...I'm going to take a shower

Holster: I agree with Tater. I don't know who added him to this group chat but I agree with him.

Still writing! Running into some issues with character motivation. :) :) :) BUT IT'S OKAY. This week is all about diving deeper into character and writing Act II.
