We're finally here. We're FINALLY to Yi City and I am SO EXCITED! I've liked what we've seen from Yang's actor so far, but he's really living up this performance and WuXian is doing his best as the tired-but-alive-and-with-these-children mentor, alongside Wangji as they enter the "Coffin City" to wade through the spookiness and find some answers!
The atmosphere is creepy with some amazing cinemaphotography in these episodes, and the acting is on point! The hype is here and I can't wait to fangirl with you all!

It's so sad they couldn't be besties -- I think they would have been great! I find it WILD that HuaiSang's actor especially auditioned for Yang -- I can't see that at ALL! Cheng I don't see either, but more so than Ji Li. But then, I haven't watched all the way through The Untamed, yet, so I might change my mind. ;) I do agree that Haoxuan does AMAZING as him and A-Qing's actress is so awesome -- YES! You can't tell me that from all these characters in mdzs only Xue Yang has this cool double sword? One little fun fact, Ji Li (Nie Huaisang) and Wang Zhuochen (Jiang Cheng) both auditioned for Xue Yang. I think it's so interesting to imagine them playing Xue Yang. I'm happy that Wang Haoxuan got the role since he did an amazing job portraying him. He's definitely fascinating as a character and I LOVE that in real life the actors playing Ning and Yang are opposite their characters; that's wonderful. Oh. Well. I really hope the chickens aren't drugged either! @.@ Hahaha, I hadn't even thought of that...yeah, let's just assume that like the rabbits, there's some good animal trainers on set. :) Thanks for the comment!

Not in "I will protect him" sort of way, but Xue Yang is fascinatingly well played here. and the fact the actor himself is just the cinnamon roll, especially compared to Wen Ning being a troll and a menace! Those poor chickens ahah. I hope they are just trained and not, you know, drugged or anything. And the rabbits. Rabbits are just too small for such a method!

Miss Romania, thank you so much for these uploads, I really am enjoying them, and I especially love discussing about it with you and fellow viewers! Episode 36’s opening is just pure chaos with Drunkji (Drunk Wangji). I love love loooove the way Yibo acted out being drunk! He’s hilarious all the while trying to keep that straight face. And that hand holding on the bed, and the leaning in too😭it’s like they’re testing how far they can go with this censorship 🤣 And then we finally, FINALLY, get to rvive Ning’s conciousness—my boi🥺 our sweet boi. This just made me hate the Jins more—it just keeps adding up every time I rewatch the series or any of the other adaptations.😤 Ok, so there’s a reason why he gives Wei Ying chickens. In ancient China, Chickens are often seen as a proposal gift and often goes with the dowry. When Wangji says “aren’t they fat?”, he’s saying that the chickens are healthy is a way of saying that he wants their union to be a healthy and joyful one. So it’s almost as if he’s proposing to Wei Ying, and telling him that he can provide him a home and a healthy, fruitful life with Wangji. This all Drunkji’s thoughts that Sober Wangji could never really convey boldly. And dang, no matter the circumstances, Wangji is always 100% down to protect Wei Ying. Nothing can deter him, not even his level of sobriety will change that. Their talk here honestly broke me. The way Wangji says the things he can’t say out loud is just heartbreaking. His biggest regret is, and always will be, the fact that he wasn’t at Wuxian’s side during his fight. Even if he did try to save him, the fact that he arrived there too late haunts him, because things could have gone differently. (THERE’S THAT HAND-HOLDING AGAIN AAAAAA—) The past still affects them greatly, and it’s painful because Wuxian tries to bury the past while Wangji couldn’t move on from his regret. Also, daz a lotta sweat— The fact that the kids associate the Yiling Patriarch as someone terrifying, like their parents, is absolutely hilarious 🤣 THE BABIES FINALLY RETURN! I love how Jingyi insults Lil Apple but then when Jin Ling does it, Jingyi does a complete 180 and insults Fairy to retaliate 😂 he reminds me of my own sassy best friends. People hardly notice Ouyang Zizhen, but he is one of the most loyal Juniors who just sticks by Wuxian. I love him, he’s so precious😤🥺 Yibo makes Wangji look so flawless in his fight scenes—the fact that he gets hate for playing a “boring character with little dialogue” baffles me. Notice that the Yaos, the Ouyangs, and the Lans all have company, but Jin Ling is the only Jin out on a night hunt. It just shows that Jin Ling really is different from the Jins, and it also shows how much of an outsider he feels among his own clansmen, feeling more connected to the Juniors of other sects than his own. If you notice the way the characters hand each other things with two hands, the left often supporting the right, this is a sign of respect. When it comes to food, it’s table manners. When it’s handing objects, it’s a sign of care and respect. Even for something as small as handing over a needle, like Wuxian did for the old lady. I love how Wuxian is taking his time to teach Jin Ling not to be pretentious. He’s taking his time to teach Jin Ling respect for others, carrying your own weight, and also teaching him to help other people without judging them at the first meeting. Wuxian knows Ling is an untamed soul, just like he used to be, and is quick to anger and impulsive like Cheng, and easily flustered and not good with his feelings like his father. Since Yanli isn’t here anymore, it’s like Wuxian is imparting the kindness and care Yanli taught him growing up. So that Ling can at least have something of his mother alongside the attributes he shares with his uncles and father. You mentioned about the actors looking young, and yeah they do look the part. The fact that Jin Ling’s actor is that same age as Yibo astounded me. And Fanxing (Sizhui) is only a year younger! And Caesar Guo (Jingyi’s actor) is several years OLDER than those three, I believe he is closer to Yubin’s (Ning’s actor) age. And Xiao Zhan himself is 27/28 during the shooting of the series! WE FINALLY SEE A-QING! The way Wuxian tricks them into taking the jump and building up their sense of courage is honestly funny but also endearing. And Zizhen is just such a sweetheart—I can’t 😩 Ok, so I talked to some of my old students about this, because when I rewatched it only a few months ago, Wuxian’s line is “Uncle, you know who I am”, but they seem to have changed “uncle” to “mister”. And I asked my students and fellow fans on another discord about it and if it was accurate. In Chinese, “Mister” or “sir” would be “Xiangshen” which is not what Wuxian calls not-Xingchen here. The thing is, Wuxian addresses his as his “martial uncle”, his mother’s younger martial brother. The honorific used in Xianxia (fantasy C-dramas) is “shishu” for martial uncle. Since Xingchen was Cangse Sangren’s little martial brother, then it would be alright to call him “xiao shishu” (little martial uncle), which (according to one of my discord friends) was shortened by Wuxian into “Xiao-shu” or “little uncle”. Back to the main story 😂 SONG LAN FINALLY APPEARS TOO! Sizhui learned from the best😤of course his skills with the Guqin would be just as good for his age. The way everyone was so ready to protect Wuxian, it just shows that they’ve grown attached to this strange new teacher-parent they had somehow acquired. And the way Sizhui just was unwilling to leave Wuxian and their little exchange just means everything to me. 🥺 And XUE YANG!!! Mygod we’re really here already— I am not ready for this😭the fight scene between Wangji and Yang is just so fricking cool! It was so well coordinated. Same with Song Lan’s and Ning’s just so frickin’ *chef’s kiss* And the Juniors🥺 Wuxian’s little ducklings🥺 and Wuxian is mama duck🥺 Looking forward to the rest of Yi City!
