If the image of me (and Huckleberry, haha) were any indication...this episode is GREAT! It may be one of my favorites in the series so far, not only in the visual storytelling, but threading together multiple storylines, character relationships, and themes of the show. What a way to start off the final "act" of the season, eh?
My brother and I were also recommended we watch the music video for "Enemy" after this episode, and so we did. Good stuff! My boy, Ekko, though! I love him! <3

Everything is relative and having your adopted children work in your crime ring as petty thieves might not seem that great, but in the context of this world and surviving the underground Vander might just have been the best father figure anyone could dream of. Let's say that he is more level headed and with a more thought out parenting style compared to Silco. And Silcos worldview is perhaps not the most conducive to good parenting but he also had Jinx as a teenager to wrangle. One can wonder how Vander would have handled her "rebellious" phase.

2022-03-11 10:31:47 +0000 UTCThat’s a really good point that Victor isn’t completely honest with Jayce in the moment on the bridge; I’d not thought about it that way, but it’s clear both he and Jayce are not where they were at the start of this story, and at this point, it’s not entirely for the better, either. Of course, Victor’s at the end of his rope, and desperation can drive people to make “bold” decisions…hopefully that pans out for him…I just want Victor to be safe. :) And I do think it’s good that Jayce realizes the impact of his words, especially on his best friend, who qualifies as the “type” of person Jayce was talking down. That’s a great point about Silco and Jinx, too. I love that Silco is trying to act parental towards Jinx, and he clearly trusts her completely, but in loving her, he’s enabling her a lot. I find it interesting. Vander was loving, too, but I’m not sure if he “enabled” Vi and Powder the same way; it seemed he was very apt to talk to them about something they did that had negative consequences, whereas Silco diverts attention from or ignores it as anything bad…interesting….thanks for the comment! :)

2022-03-11 03:53:57 +0000 UTCWhat is 'unethical' about Viktor trying to save his own life that's such a bizarre take. You use a lot of words with negative connotations to make what he did seem worse than it is, some real spin going on there.

2022-03-10 14:42:20 +0000 UTCI like that Viktor tells Jayce that he shouldn't judge people based on where they are from... but it's somewhat undercut by the fact that he went to the undercity to have a secret meeting with a mad scientist to get his hands on a highly dangerous drug. A drug he's gonna use for his unethical secret experiments, and is now in the process of smuggling past the police and his best friend. The "problem" with Silco controlling Jinx is that he doesn't see her or treat her like an underling, he sees her as his daugther. He is sometimes soft with her and sometimes he gets really furious with her, but he never uses his "powerful mob boss" persona on her (like he did the chembarons) wich is of course just enabling her behavior. It's interesting when we see him trying to inject his eye himself. In the first episode we see him do it without problem but now he can't do it as he has been relying on Jinx for help for all these years. I think we can be absolutely sure that poking his eye with a syringe is something he only lets someone he trusts implicitly do... and the only one he truly trusts is Jinx (obviously not in the i know what she will do and i can always count on her to do what i want kinda way). When she grabs the syringe and sits on him we see him struggle and consciously choose not to fight back, he can't do it, not with her. Silco could be lying and gaslighting Jinx when he talks about Vi. But it could also be that, seeing so much of himself in Jinx being "betrayed", he believes it, filtering his perception of Vi through how he thinks about everyone around him. It can of course be a mixture of both or perhaps more subconscious than a deliberate effort.
