The Untamed: Episodes 42-43 FULL LENGTH Reaction!

**I GET LOUD IN THIS - HEADPHONE WARNINGS!**

I had SO. MUCH. FUN. watching these episodes! The "cat's out of the bag" and everyone knows WuXian's back! The entire scene in Yao's "secret vault" was one of my favorites in this series so far -- it has me SO excited for what's to come with Yao and HuaiSang!

But not only do we get that scene, but we get ALL the WangXian smiles, pining, snow-drifted monologues, Lan Clan Babies -- I FANGIRLED SO HARD in these episodes! I can't wait to talk with you all about them!

Thank you for watching with me and for the support!

The Untamed: Episodes 42-43 FULL LENGTH Reaction!

Comments

Thank you so much for joining the Patreon madness! :D And no worries about long comments – have you seen my videos?! ^^ I’m excited to read what you have, here! The stare off and reveals with WuXian and Yao are just *chef’s kiss* in these episodes! And Wangji and WuXian’s basic 80-minute love confession (as another commenter described it)? PERFECTION. And I couldn’t help cracking that joke! We know WuXian isn’t going to die, so I couldn’t get toooooo sad in that moment, but seriously, they DO make him look like he’s going to kick the bucket at any moment! @_@ But seeing Wangji take charge and stand by his man! I LOVE IT! And THANK YOU for not spoiling the novel for me with that! I cannot WAIT to get to that part and see it all go down!! I can see in The Untamed with Yao having made her kill herself, especially with how they intentionally want you to view Yao as more of the villain, whereas in the novel and manhua it’s a bit more ambiguous. I personally, based on the novel, think she killed herself, but I can see how anyone would think Yao was tied to it (and he is indirectly if anything). And YES, it does seem like he does a LOT more manipulation of Ling in this! @_@ And ooh, that callback with the blood! Interesting! I never thought of it as HuaiSang intentionally fainting because he saw Xichen showing affection to Yao, but that makes SO much sense, haha! And that’s so great with HuaiSang’s reaction with WuXian – “Quit mucking it up, Gremlin!” 😊 And Xichen’s “GIVE ME STRENGTH” face! I’m dying! Hahahaha! That’s SO TRUE. I am amazed WuXian is so good at memorizing things like that…but then his memory is so NOT good in other scenes, haha! I do feel for Cheng, who just wants his brother back, but the promise they once made just doesn’t seem like it’s going to be kept. Our poor sour grape! I am SOOOO ready for the Golden Core reveal, though! I love how bold Wangji and WuXian are in the snow scene back at Gusu! Everything about it is just so wonderful! Wearing ONLY ONE LAYER of clothing?! *gasps* Also, Baby Lan’s were ADORABLE, even if we just got them for a brief moment! That entire scene with WuXian and Xichen – you gushed about it here and I did in the discussion; it’s just so great! I love how the Lan’s communicate their emotions often times through music. Just…. <3 But, I’m DEFINITELY not ready for the temple scenes and Xichen and Yao totally breaking apart. Nope. Not ready. The Hawks obeying the Gusu rules! XD OMG – YES! I believe this is canon. And I like how they actually tied MianMian back around for this story, and her having a family! It’s so sweet! :3 Thanks again for the comment! I can’t believe we’re nearing the climax of the series, but I’m so excited for what’s to come! 😊

Romaniablack

Don’t say that! But thank you – I’m glad this has become such a hub for talking about this show! 😊 These episodes were GREAT, though! Some of my favorites of the series so far! I appreciate the kind words and comment! An 80-minute love confession was BASICALLY these episodes!! I just love how they cared for one another in this and Wangji can finally openly support WuXian and WuXian gets that Wangji is there for him – just -- **SIGHS** -- I love it! And hahahaha, that ending shot, you just KNEW that things were going down, but we’re going to keep it classy and let the audience fill in the blanks. 😉 And haaaaaaa, it is a little shocking that Xichen just basically tells WuXian how much Wangji cares about him without him even knowing! Xichen’s tired of being the captain of this ship and the ship not sailing. “If you two oblivious gremlins can’t get it done yourself…I’ll step in!” I seriously snorted my drink reading your line about him trauma-dumping and then having a flute solo to let WuXian process! XD It’s hilarious and definitely sweet; I love how the Lan’s use music for so much emotional expression, since they aren’t “supposed” to in the Cloud Recesses. Wangji being sassy and truthful at the same time is such a treat! And YES! The presence of Yao can not be missed! @_@ And hahahaha – that’s a great way of phrasing it – the ever-elegant Wangji, forced to come out of hiding from behind a hay bale with a chaotic reincarnated gremlin. Just another day in MDZS! 😊 And YES! OMG – I raised rabbits and the way they hold them…how they have not been scratched to PIECES is beyond me! @_@ The tameness of them astounds me every time!

Romaniablack

Yessss, it's so sad that in this world, they chose WuXian as the blame for so much hatred and wrongdoing. Definitely a sad "moral" shown throughout this series, along with how easily loyalties are swayed! @_@

Romaniablack

HaoXuan, yes!! Thank you! I always forget his name! >.< But YES! These episodes are the definition of **Chef’s Kiss** for me! Episode 43 is just wonderful, isn’t it? 😊I just….I love that lovely censorship “detail” you pointed out. *sigh* 😊 I love how creative this team gets in this! Ooohhh thank you for not spoiling the novel and the Untamed itself in this – I cannot TELL you all how excited I am to get to that point when we get the WangXian goodness. 😊 Soooooonnnnn…. But yes, Wangji and WuXian side-by-side on the stairs, the ACTING between Yibo and Zhan and their glances were so perfect. 😊I just love it. And I DID NOT realize he was wearing Wangji’s undergarments! @.@ AHEM, good sirs! <3 HuaiSang snagging up all the Oscars with his performance! I just absolutely love it! And Xichen…still in denial of Yao at this point. *sighs again* And Su She…it’s funny I can’t forget him NOW in the story, hahaha! And poor Baby Ling…so conflicted and not sure how to deal. ☹ At least we round out with seeing MianMian again! Glad that she seems to be doing well! 😊 But yessss, I can’t believe we’re close to ending this series! I definitely want to get into 2Ha at some point! Is it out in the live action yet or coming out this year? Thank you for the comment!!

Romaniablack

These episodes were wonderful! I love how Wangji stood up beside WuXian! SO beautiful!! T-T The moment we see his growth on display and I agree -- the way The Untamed is given to us in a linear fashion allows us to see that growth easier. The fact that he says he'll stay by WuXian's side? :3 So sweet! Yibo definitely did a great job with it; as did Zhan with that monologue in the snow! Yeah, "just good friends," huh? :) Sure, Jan. hahaha!! Thank you for the kind words and comment! Ahhh, I can't believe we're at the last part of the series, but I SO agree -- there's plenty more MXTX goodness to come! :)

Romaniablack

How are we already near the final five episodes?! It's crazy, right?! And yessss, these episodes were so good! YES, the cinematography is SO good in these episodes and WuXian letting go....it's perfect! I agree, that translation with Xichen not "tolerating" it makes MUCH more sense! :) Thank you for that info and the comment! I'm so excited for what's left to come!

Romaniablack

It's so great that MXTX shows us how that initial idea Wangji had that we may have rooted for is not what's ideal -- and in the present shows us why! I absolutely love that! And yesssss, Xichen loving Yao despite how he's lied to him this entire time, essentially....I'm NOT looking forward to seeing that betrayal come out fully at the temple. @_@ But these episodes were soooooo good! The snow scenes?! "STOPPPP ITTT" indeed hahaha! And ahhhhh, I'm SO ready for the golden core reveal as well! Same -- I'm excited for the end, but sad for it as well! Thank you so much for the kind words and comment and take care as well! <3

Romaniablack

Ha, oh boy, I don't think I can add value to what others have shared on these two episodes (watching your reaction is always a joy, and reading the comments here especially has been a ride!). But, because these episodes were Just So Good and I LOVED your reaction, I'm still going to share: - The Wangxian is strong in these episodes, I've forgotten just how much emotion the show wrings out of the audience with how they've set these up narratively, musically, and cinemetagrophily. I think I cried the first and second time I watched that stair scene, especially with the call-back to sticking to the single-log bridge *starts sobbing again* These two episodes feel like an expanded, 80-minute long love confession, between the stair scene, the moment in the rain, and Wuxian learning just how much Wangji truly cares for and believes in him....I'm also of the belief that they absolutely *ahem* spent the night together in the Silence Room as well, for all the reasons that others have mentioned--I mean, that gradual zoom/Ken Burns effect where the camera demurely pulls the viewers back to focus on the archway into the house, has that same vibe in older movies where you *know* the couple is doing it but they can't show it so they instead zoom out to a fireplace, or candles, or the moon. - As beautiful and heartwrenching as the whole scene with Xichen telling Wangji's story to Wei Wuxian, can we also appreciate the hilarity of Xichen effectively saying, "Oh, Wangji won't tell you exactly how how devoted he is to you, and how much he went through, and that it's obvious he loves you? Fine, let me out him without his consent by 1) telling you exactly how much he has suffered for you; and 2) clearly outlining the explicit parallels to the tragic relationship his father had with our mother." After this trauma-dumping, he then proceeds to lay his own heart open and share his confusion and vulnerability...and then just plays the flute while Wei Wuxian has to digest everything that he has just learned. It's A Lot, and I just find it both hilarious and actually really sweet that he turns to music to avoid any kind of following awkward conversation after that kind of a reveal. Both he and Wangji are definitely similar in that they also turn to music to help process their feelings, it seems. - "You are not qualified to talk to me" One of my FAVORITE Wangji lines (granted, he doesn't have many but he makes them count), and an entire mood. It's one of the few times I think we actually hear him say out loud the kind of commentary we know is running in his head at all times. - I had to comment on your face when you saw Yao's shoes moving forward through the slots of the screen....it was a transformative journey from "I'm blissing out with this sweet and adorable Wangxian moment" to "ohhhhhhh shit." Love that you also recognized who it was immediately by the shoes and robe hem alone! Yao has a definate presence by this point. - OMG the rabbits, I hear you! I actually fixate on this every time they appear. I have friends and family who work at vet clinics and shelters, and they have all said that you do not/not hold rabbits the way the Untamed actors hold rabbits--in part because rabbits can kick so hard they can break their backs. So yes, these rabbits truly are Lan clan members given their outward grace and composure in trying circumstances. - The righteous and noble Huangong Jun hiding behind a bale of hay in a stranger's yard and sheepishly coming out never, ever fails to make laugh.

Yeaaah my comments for The Untamed are always kinda crazy long on Romania's channel (to the point that several times I hit the limit on YT's comments) 😅. It truly is amazing what the show managed to squeeze in around the censorship. Love it!

Anime Annie

It's useful to remember the mob mentality Wuxian exposes in ep 43, and later at the Burial Mounds, and even later with everyone turning onto Yao. Sometimes world just needs a target to hate, but it's of no matter if you have clear conscience. In the world where so many people try to shift blame just because of place you were born, it's nice to remember.

…I stand corrected, I thought it was WeTV😅sorry

Ivan is Yda

I haven't gotten to everyone's comments yet, but I am watching The Untamed on Netflix, if it helps! :)

Romaniablack

Dude, holy crap🤣 amazing comment dude. By the way, she’s not using Netflix, I don’t think? She’s using WeTV. The colors of the video options are orange, like WeTV’s and the subtitles’ fonts are WeTV’s. And dude, SAMEEE I prefer the pinyin rather than the English. Did you know that Netflix translated Jinlintai as “Golden Unicorn Tower”? Lmao. They didn’t even exist in Chinese Mythology 😂 The Untamed’s version of the the core reveal will always be more painful than all the other adaptations 😭 Honestly if you look at how Xichen and Wangji love their s/o, it’s pretty much similar. They would go to the ends of the earth to prove the person they love is innocent until proven guilt. And proven guilty, Jin Guangyao was indeed. I forgot to mention that iconic line in my comment!😂 I was too sleepy, it was 2 AM over here when this was uploaded. His sass towards Su She—he doesn’t even try to hide his disdain. Dude, there’s another reason why Wuxian keeps falling asleep during that meeting too! You mentioned them having activities right? I already mentioned this in my comment, but I also told Romania this a week ago on the Discord, out of pure excitement. I even sent a video evidence of it and everything. They DID have papapa in the Jingshi that night. During the wide shot, before the camera moves to the top of the gate’s roof, Wuxian takes off his belt, it falls to the floor. When the camera settles on the top of the roof, Wuxian holds onto his robe with one had, and faces inside the Jingshi! I held onto the info for so long, I think I went crazy trying not to spoil that for everyone lol. The reason the hawks don’t get them is because it is believed that the Cloud Recesses have wards around the entire place, thus no animal can wander in without the help of a human. It makes sense for this version to have Mianmian appear now, because it gives light to the idea that Wuxian really doesn’t harm civilians. It’s all just talk, and it helps with disproving the statements of the other cultivators in the next episodes.

Had to join your Patreon because these two episodes are definitely up there as my favourites in the entire show. Loved your reaction and review as always. And, as per usual, I ended up being wordy...🤣 First time noticing but not only did Jin Guangyao hide Nie Mingjue's head, but he also got rid of all his torture instruments and manacles that were previously dangling at the entrance. Though the slaughter table with the etch from Baxia beheading Nie Mingjue's corpse is still there. The stare-off between Wei Wuxian and Jin Guangyao is so good. Felt very much like "I know that you know, but you don't know that I know you know". Dangerous blade with lots of resentful energy so lets wave it around. The way they did it in The Untamed to me makes it seem like Jin Guangyao made Qin Su kill herself. The way she did it so suddenly after he said Wen Qing made it almost seem like that was a codeword to set off the mind control. But like with previous things I take this with a grain of salt in regards to Jin Guangyao's character as it could just be their way of really heaping on what lies at his feet to add more to his being the Big Bad. They changed it up from the novel, manhua and donghua. In that Lan Xichen was able to recognise the headless body as his Da-ge's body (joke being he knew those chiselled abs that Wei Wuxian checked out previously). In this it's only from the sword spirit showing it's true shape that they know it's Baxia and therefore Nie Mingjue. Not sure if this is censorship or just trying to go away from the potential 3Zun ship, and just have the XiYao ship firmly sailing in the show. Nie Huaisang: *notices Lan Xichen starting to show sympathy for Jin Guangyao's plight and acting skills* Well we can't be having any of that! *grabs Er-ge and subsequently faints* Lan Wangji protecting Wei Wuxian just has that different flavour to it. But that "Hands off"? Love love love! I just love that the reveal happens and so Nie Huaisang 'wakes up'. You just know he's thinking "Wei-xiong, do I *really* have to do everything around here? You had ONE job. Get me my revenge on Jin Guangyao and let it all be revealed what he did. But no, you just had to go and get caught." I gotta say the sealing of the sword honestly gives me such Excalibur vibes. Maybe it's just because I love the myth of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table but it really does have a similar feel to it. That little conversation between uncle and nephew really makes it seem like Jin Guangyao manipulated Jin Ling into stabbing Wei Wuxian. He saw that earlier Wei Wuxian deflected Jin Ling's Suihua and moved him safely aside (out of harms way). So Jin Guangyao can assume from this that Wei Wuxian won't hurt his nephew, leaving Jin Ling the most able to get past Wei Wuxian's guard and kill him. Definitely showing off his brain, deducting skills, and his ability to read people. But yes, he is definitely his father's son, whilst Jin Zixuan always gave off as more his mother's son. Su She does have a stink-eye and that bug is that he can never be equal to or ever hope to dream of beating Lan Wangji! For Lan Xichen's expression I always call that his 'give me strength' reaction. He did the same when Wen Chao disrupted the bowing ceremony and everyone took up arms against each other and he had to use Liebing to calm everything down. In this I see it as him wishing for strength because there's no hiding Wei Wuxian's return, nor hiding the fact Lan Wangji has been helping him all this time. I love that with the Wei Wuxian reveal the other Cultivators back off a bit. But when Lan Wangji stands at his side and pulls out Bichen? They back off even more and even scatter a bit from their previous formation. Yiling Laozu = scary. Yiling Laozu + Hanguang-jun? Run. And that thought just put the poem from Doctor Who in my head (Demons run when a good man goes to war) which honestly fits Wei Wuxian for the Sunshot Campaign and after...May have to try my hand at making a short video for that 🤣 The stair scene!!! This is one of my favourite scenes out of the whole show. It never fails to make me smile and sigh over WangXian. And now you also know the other reason I love that Wei Wuxian quote. Gives a different meaning when it's Lan Wangji saying that he'll walk that darker road with him. But I just love that they're basically surrounded by enemies and going "nah, let's have a beautiful and romantic moment together". My heart is always pained a bit at this fight. It's the first time Wei Wuxian has been able to use Suibian (even a little) since Lotus Pier massacre. But then Lan Wangji choosing to kick Su She in the chest to defend Wei Wuxian makes me grin again. So many kicks in the teeth for Jiang Cheng this episode. My heart goes out to him so much. First he has to watch on as Lan Wangji defends his shixiong, and then watch as Lan Wangji proudly says he'll walk the path Wei Wuxian will. Jiang Cheng previously chose to protect his Clan over Wei Wuxian and couldn't stand at his brother's side against the mob, and he still can't. Then Jin Ling goes and stabs Wei Wuxian in the same place Jiang Cheng stabbed him when they pretended to fall out. Just brings back his guilt for hurting his shixiong like that before. And once again he's stuck with the mob, but Lan Wangji is able to be at his side defending, protecting, and helping him. The blood on the ground by Jin Ling's feet and Suihua dropping to the ground was very similar to when Jin Zixuan was killed. Only that time Suihua was sheathed and the blood was Jin Zixuan's at Wei Wuxian's feet. I love the mirroring this show does with things like this. It hurts like hell, but it's oh so good. They really make wounded Wei Wuxian look like he's almost on death's door. Feels like a very serious moment, especially with the music and then you made the comment about Wang Yibo have no pores. Love it! It made me laugh out loud. In all seriousness both are unfairly beautiful. I am honestly amazed that line made it into the show. Like the rain, their stares, the implication of Lan Wangji's devotion and love (but not at the expense of Wei Wuxian). But it encapsulates Lan Wangji so well, and it's Wei Wuxian's realisation that he didn't hate him and want to punish him back then. Lan Wangji wanted to help and protect him. His scolding came from a place of love. And now standing with him when all others want him dead also comes from the same place. Be still my beating WangXian heart! Netflix's subtitles strike again. Pretty sure they translated Lan Wangji's home as Silence Room [which they translate it as again in the next episode] when he first brought Wei Wuxian back to Gusu. Wei Wuxian even says they're in the Jingshi, not the Cultivation Chamber. For things like this I much prefer using the pinyin for it. Same for Jinlintai (instead of Carp Tower/Koi Tower/Golden Carp Tower/Jinlin Tower). Lan Wangji's so bold now! Undressed Wei Wuxian and kept him in his underclothes (or potentially put him into Lan Wangji's underclothes as I've seen in some fan theories). Then assertively strips him (to check his wound) but still! Past!Lan Wangji would have been a mess over this scenario. I honestly like this addition of The Untamed. It makes sense that Mo Xuanyu would want revenge on Jin Guangyao too. Also adds more reason to Wei Wuxian seeing it through the whole way, along with another reason for why Mo Xuanyu had to be the one that performed the forbidden array. Considering how much the show give us of XiYao when Wei Wuxian suggested the person was Jin Guangyao's lover and Lan Wangji immediately dismisses his nonsense it always makes me think, "yeah Lan Xichen wouldn't be so underhanded, and Lan Wangji knows his brother as well as Lan Xichen knows him". But it could also be a potential nod to any Nie Huaisang/Jin Guangyao shippers (not sure on their ship name; maybe SangYao?). You mentioning the reveal with Suibian and Jiang Cheng: It's gonna be so good! Me: 😭😭😭 My babies!!! 😭😭😭 Lan Xichen's expressions are everything. But I do love he says that he gave permission for Wei Wuxian to live there...whilst specifically gazing at said man being somewhat déshabillé in front of him. *Victorian gasp of shock* He's only wearing ONE layer! I do love the way they did the conversation with the Twin Jades of Lan. The smile on Lan Xichen's face seems like his polite Sect Leader and not his warm brotherly one, and Lan Wangji won't even look into his brother's eyes. Along with the background music it really does pain you the divide the two have found themselves at. And adore the way Wei Wuxian approaches Lan Xichen with what he saw in Empathy. He completely accepts Lan Xichen's words for his brother; likely because he's used to people not having trust in him/trusting others' words over his. He broaches the subject in a careful and caring manner in my opinion. It hurts me though to see Lan Xichen smiling at Wei Wuxian for his points because you can tell that he doesn't believe the words over his own beliefs regarding Jin Guangyao. Honestly Wei Wuxian being able to playback Song of Clarity after only hearing it several times in Empathy really reminds me of Ritsuka from Given being able to play back Mafuyu's little humming of the song in his head because he's heard it twice already. I think it really all depends on how you're taught. For any instrument I was taught by sheet music or just the chords written down, whereas my Mum was taught by ear and so she's able to listen to a song and more or less work out what chords it is for the song, whereas I would need to look up the sheet music to know what to play. Lan Wangji's gotta be that close in case playing gives him any issues with his wound and he needs to dramatically catch him 🤣 I say this because being *that* close to a flute can leave your ears ringing a little sometimes. Or at least it does for me with the metal one my Dad's friend plays. Not sure if it's the same for the bamboo ones. And the Lan Clan secret vault is also behind a bookcase and down a slightly curving staircase. Every bookworm's dream. The dustiness of their vault is also a great contrast with the beauty of the Jins'. Another aspect of the Jin Clan being concerned with wealth whilst the Lan Clan care more about gathering knowledge. I always laugh at Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji's expressions whilst Lan Xichen is basically waxing lyrical about Jin Guangyao. If it was anyone else (especially Jiang Cheng) it'd be fine, but considering all their inappropriate conversations and stares and romantic moments when other things are occurring, WangXian don't really have a leg to stand on with those looks! The book being called the Collection of Turmoil, and Lan Xichen's face (upon realising Wei Wuxian's words make sense) is full of turmoil over Jin Guangyao! I don't like it here, it hurts too much. And Wei Wuxian being all "I know he's your brother, and you love and want to protect and help him, but he needs you to give him this. He needs to learn his own way" to Lan Wangji...all with just a simple touch, glance, and shake of the head. I did giggle a little at you being excited at the idea we'd get to see Baby!Lan Wangji. We get a little itty bitty bit of Baby!Lan Wangji with his Muqin. But at least in The Untamed we actually get to see her in her entirety. Though I think I'd have died from cuteness overload if we got her teasing Baby!Lan Wangji like in the donghua. This whole part has probably two of the best Lan Wangji lines! The first being: "You are not qualified to speak to me!" I love his disdain for Su She. Though I always get a little confused about this timeline of events. I never know if this is whilst Wei Wuxian is lying unconscious in the Slumbering Demon Cave, or if this is after the three days when Wei Wuxian wakes and heads for Jinlintai to see his Shijie, or if it's even after the events of Nightless City and Wei Wuxian's death. Mainly because Lan Wangji's wounded and bloody afterwards, yet by the time he meets up with Wei Wuxian at Nightless City he's clean and no sign of any wounds at that time. The second line is when he's being punished: "I dare ask you, uncle. Who is right? Who is wrong? What is black? What is white?" He's never before questioned the Lan Clan rules, but the precepts say that the one he loved was 'evil' and should be eradicated, so he can't help but question them. I'm glad no-one spoiled you on why Lan Wangji waited for three years before going in search of Wei Wuxian. Him being put into forced seclusion and then the moment he's free he went in search of Wei Wuxian hurts my heart. I won't spoil how it is in the novel, but shall look forward to your reaction. I'm unsure how I feel about them changing the Jingshi to being where Lan Xichen and Lan Wangji's mother lived. It does add to the pain because this way Lan Wangji chose to seclude himself away from the rest of his Clan in the same house his mother was imprisoned and died in. I do have to say I love that Wei Wuxian questions "Why?" their mother killed their father's teacher, and didn't simply condemn her for doing such an act (as the Lan Clan did). It really shows his character and curiosity, and makes me think as a child his first word was likely "Why?". But it also shows that everyone in the show has a reason for why they kill, even if that reason is just because they enjoy doing so (like Wen Ruohan or in some cases of the murders Xue Yang committed). The child/family casting for this show is definitely top tier. Not just in regards to the other CDramas I've watched, but most especially in comparison with some Western shows. Lan Qiren with his baby nephews honestly makes me so soft. The Lans from the very first one (Lan An) have always been romantics at heart. They fall hard and fast, and that one will forever remain in their heart - no matter what. Honestly I always felt, even in the past Lan Wangji wasn't like his father. That line of his "I want to bring someone back to Cloud Recesses. Bring him back and hide him. But he is not willing." If he was like his father the latter wouldn't have mattered. He'd have dragged Wei Wuxian back to Gusu to protect him from the Cultivation World, but he didn't. And now in the future he has regrets, but he never regrets not following the same path his father walked. Instead his regret is not being at Wei Wuxian's side during Nightless City. That throat bob from Xiao Zhan hurts my heart. Such a simple action but you can tell by just that that Wei Wuxian's really affected by Lan Xichen's words. That plus his previous realisation regarding Lan Wangji's true feelings for him culminates in a lot of hurt on both sides, but finally Wei Wuxian understands the pain Lan Wangji previously endured because of Wei Wuxian. Then show decides to hit us with Lan Xichen playing the xiao to get through his own pain and grief from talking about such things. And once again the mirroring of WangXian and XiYao. And after all that heaviness? We interrupt this regular scheduled programme to bring you Lan Wangji blatantly flouting the Lan Clan rules and delivering Emperor's Smile to Wei Wuxian. Definite courting gift/ritual, right? "Screw it" and then drinking alcohol is *such* a response/mood. Just makes me love Wei Wuxian all the more. Makes Lan Wangji love him more too! Though when he said "who can say" what could've been I always think: that's what FanFic is for! That moment with them in the snow and then Lan Wangji playing a slower version of WuJi on the guqin for him is just so beautiful. I love the cinematography for it. It's really quite simplistic but just perfect for the softness of the moment. There is pain in remembrance, but their is also hope for the future, trust, and love. And *then* they hit us with the "sorry and thank you". I always laugh at Wei Wuxian falling asleep whilst meditating 'cause my mind goes to Lan Wangji kept him up A LOT of the night! But yes, unlike Lan Wangji and Lan Xichen who abide by the Lan Clan rules on posture, Wei Wuxian has never been one to care much for correct sitting positions and we very rarely see him meditating unless ill. Also there's the possibility that it's rather early in the morning and Wei Wuxian has never enjoyed the Lan Clan's sleep cycle (bed at 9pm, awake at 5am). I feel that one greatly as I'm definitely more of a night owl. XiYao break-up 😭 That's what I always think with the return of the entry token. I believe the token signalled as there being an intruder (hence why Jin Guangyao said he'd give it back, and why Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji were hiding out in the Hanshi waiting for Jin Guangyao to arrive). That immediate change in Lan Xichen's expressions once a second purge of the Burial Mounds is mentioned; I just love it. In that moment he knows that whatever is going on, to provide an excuse/reasoning for attacking Wei Wuxian again, it isn't Wei Wuxian's actions because he's been recovering in the Cloud Recesses. This one little thing is Jin Guangyao's first slip up with Lan Xichen in my opinion. I love that Wei Wuxian gets annoyed by the Cultivation World over-appraising his abilities, rather than being cocky and big-headed. He is confident in his abilities but not over-confident. At least not to himself. He does lie to others on his condition (Jiang Cheng, Wen Qing, and Lan Wangji mainly) but I feel like that's so that they don't worry over him. The issue with Netflix either not using Da-ge or translating it as Older/Oldest Brother. That whole conversation from Jin Guangyao he says Da-ge three times yet the translation only gives two mentions of 'him' but no specifics used. I just realised with Lan Wangji and Wei Wuxian coming out of their hiding space, isn't that against the Lan Clan rules ("no dishonest practices"). I know by this point there's a whole host of rules Lan Wangji has broken, but Lan Xichen is the Sect Leader. Really shows, in my opinion, how shaken up he is by the possibility Wei Wuxian presented him. "You'd think the hawks would get them, seeing as they're all white." Maybe even the hawks must follow the Lan Clan rule of "no killing in the Cloud Recesses" 🤣 That line by Wei Wuxian about though it's dangerous he's not scared really reminds me of what Lan Sizhui said back in Yi City; that when he's with either Hanguang-jun or 'Master Mo' he's not afraid and knows he's safe. Instead of getting the donkey ride and WangXian theme at the end like the donghua we get it here. These episodes really just making my WangXian heart grow three sizes bigger. Luo Qingyang's daughter saying what she's obviously taught her (that Wei Wuxian wouldn't hurt the good and honest people), meanwhile Lan Wangji and Wei Wuxian hiding behind the hay bale grinning. Too sweet! But I love the look Lan Wangji throws at Wei Wuxian when they're discovered. It wasn't his choice to hide in the first place after all. To be fair to Wei Wuxian on his memory of Luo Qingyang, she never actually gave him her real name. But she hasn't changed much from before and still his memory doesn't allow him to remember the girl he said was Lan Wangji's first crush. In the novel the hay bale and all that was just a civilian family with their son, and they were talking about the fears being whispered around regarding the return of the Yiling Laozu. I like them making it Luo Qingyang and her family because we get that cute moment of acknowledging that previously there was no mention of Wei Wuxian actually harming civilians, only rumours (believed to have been spread by the Jins). In the novel he did harm other Cultivators that were on their side during the war (due to not having control over the Stygian Tiger Amulet) but in regards to The Untamed the words Luo Qingyang taught her daughter are true.

Oh yes, these episodes are wonderful. We only have seven episodes left! We've come such a long journey but it's all worth it. Many have mentioned about that iconic snow scene showing Wangji and Wuxian together at Silence Room, so I won't repeat them. Just want to say the cinematography was brilliantly done there. And Wuxian's final willingness to let go and that sense of relief. I love it! What Xichen said was actually better translated as "If Yao was truly behind all this, I won't tolerate that" rather than "I'll make him pay". I think this will sound more suitable for his character. We're now near the final five episodes! I'm so excited!

ooohhhh these episodes. The moment of the stairs I think I would endlessly see those looks and those smiles ... I think I cried with pure joy watching that episode, with Wangji practically declaring himself in front of everyone. =D I think that scene is also perfect for Lan Wangji's character. From how he went from the boy tied to the rules of his clan, going through everything that has happened and doubting what is the right or wrong thing to do, to this Lan Wangji of the present who accepts the principles of his clan but he knows it's not all black or white and that this time he won't abandon Wei Wuxian. I think Lan Wangji's growth is one of the things I particularly loved about The Untamed, perhaps because of the more linear storytelling than the novel, you can see it more clearly. Also because since Lan Wangji doesn't talk much, you can see his growth especially in his actions and expressions (and obviously Wang Yibo does an incredible job here). What about Wei Wuxian's monologue under the snow, it is a wonderful monologue. <3 And with these two episodes, I think the censors were now in love with them that they didn't realize that with two episodes like this it was a little difficult that the two of them could be just two "good friends". XD I loved your reaction I was looking forward to these two episodes to see you react to the wangxian in these episodes and it was great. I can't wait to see your reactions to the last 6 episodes, it's sad it's almost the end already, but luckily there is more mxtx. =D

I always find this analogy of Wangji's parents vs. Wangxian really interesting. Because like everyone said their situation is basically what would have happend if Wangji brought Wwx back to the Cloud Recesses in his Yiling patriach days. Killed many (just like she killed the teacher), will be locked up/protected against his will in Cloud recesses (he wanted to stay w the wens no matter what) and hidden. The clan would be against it and in the end Wangji would probably also end up isolating them or himself 'cause at that point Wwx didn't even realise he felt anything for Lwj. It's really interesting how it can be parralelled and that Wangji didn't end up doing it, like you said he's different. I love that talk so much. Also Xichen's pain pains me, poor dude, realising one of the most important people in ur life has just been lying to u this whole time (well outside of the feelings hehe) i LOVE both of these episodes aahh, the soft moments between Wangxian on the stairs and in the snow STOPPPP ITTT my heart. We are sooo close to the golder core reveal episode and i am beyond excited to your reaction to it and.. the final!! aaaah so close, im sad its almost over and excited at the same time. Lovely reaction as always and take care <3

The name you’re looking for Yang is “Wang HaoXuan”🥰 FINALLY!!! YOU’RE HERE!!! This is going to be short, unlike my other comments lol, cause everything is just so perfect I really can’t say anything else about it 😂 I have been waiting because of the spoiler alert for Episode 43!!! I was soooo excited to give you that little bit of hidden info! The fact that the crew was able to hide the way Wuxian takes off his belt during the wide shot, and holds his robes open while facing inside the Jingshi, where Wangji was just playing his Guqin. The implication it had! (They did Papapa, you can’t convince me otherwise!) For those who don’t understand, strap yourselves in! D During the wide shot, before the camera moves to the top of the gate’s roof, Wuxian takes off his belt, it falls to the floor. When the camera settles on the top of the roof, Wuxian holds onto his robe with one had, and faces inside the Jingshi IT EXPLAINS WHY WUXIAN WAS SO TIRED THE NEXT DAY 😂AND WHY WANGJI LOOKS MUCH MORE AT EASE AND EVEN MORE AFFECTIONATE, AND PROTECTIVE 🥺like, he finally has his love after all this time. It was GENIUS, the way they avoided that part being censored! Ok, I have a theory here. That whole standoff at the staircase is their confession time. Like, their declaration of love in front of witnesses, without it being censored. I’m not going to say much else, because those will be spoilers for both the novel and the Untamed itself, so I’ll just wait (like last time) to give more details on that theory. But that also explains WHY Xichen tells Wuxian about Wangji’s punishments earlier on, instead of post-Guanyin Temple, which is what they did in the the Donghua. Huaisang’s acting at this point in the story is just going HARD! Like, he really does deserve an award😤give the man an Oscar! And, GOD, the way I just want to grab Xichen by the shoulders and shake him senseless while pointing out everything wrong with Yao 😩Xichen PLEASE, JUST LOOK AT YAO’S FACE—YOU’LL SEE IT YOURSELF😩 The way Wangji and Wuxian stood side by side at the stairs, I just love this version of their standoff, honestly. They did it so well, AND LOOK AT THE WAY YIBO AND ZHAN ACTED THIS OUT! It’s so—how can you not swoon? They play it so well, like, it really feels like the love they have for each other is alive! I’m so happy you pointed out Su She’s stink-eye face! I always try not to notice it but I just—I can’t 🤣 God, baby Ling, my poor boy, he doesn’t deserve to deal with this chaos ;-; The way he looks so conflicted and terrified with what he just did. Also, Wei Ying is wearing Wangji’s undergarments, I wonder if you realized that hehehe We finally see Mianmian again, YAY! God, I’m so sad, we only have 7 episodes left! I’m so excited but I’m still sad we’re almost at a close :( I hope that once we finish The Untamed, you can get into 2Ha, and Immortality (the Live Action) gets released too 👀I cant wait for next week! (My comment keeps getting deleted whenever I refresh for some reason, so if this appears multiple times, I’m sorry ;-;)
