Mo Dao Zu Shi: Audio Drama, Manhua, & Novel Review - Part Twenty-Seven! THE GOLDEN CORE REVEAL!!

FINALLY, WuXian takes Wangji on a "date" to the Lotus Pier, where WuXian reminisces and confronts a part of his past, embraces Wangji (and maybe a realization about his sexuality), and unknowingly friend-zones said Wangji (despite said realization about his sexuality) -- WuXian, you chaotic gremlin -- just....WHY?!

Cheng lets loose on WuXian and Wangji - much to my surprise - but Ning dishes it right back along with some truths that may be hard for Cheng to swallow...Golden Core Reveal, we're FINALLY here! I'm so excited!

We also have the extras "Blind Date" and "Into the Dream, Part I" to look at! We may be caught up with the manhua at this point, but there's still plenty of Audio Drama content to get through! Thank you for listening with me and for the support!

Hahahaha, I’ve only thrown one novel across the room after reading, which was Grapes of Wrath, but that’s another story. I really like your description of how the two brothers can’t see past their trauma to properly reach out. WuXian avoids, which only makes JC madder and feel more jealous and that he’s not on WWX’s level, and JC lashes out because of that avoidance and berates him for breaking the promise that has become so dear to his heart: being the twin heroes of the Lotus Pier. He feels abandoned and WWX feeds those flames by avoiding him out of guilt. It's so tragic because you know they both love each other…there’s just so much miscommunication between them. I just want them to wear a “get-along” shirt and have to sit there and talk to one another civilly. I feel your frustration, hahaha! Yesssss, I’m definitely curious to see where both the Novel and The Untamed take Cheng’s character! Thanks for the comment! :D

Ahhh, that's so romantic! I think that WuXian was thinking something similar, if he catches me, I'll let him keep me? Maybe that was it? I love that MXTX keeps it open for us to interpret! That also makes a lot of sense about needing to stay awake to keep the golden core stable and to keep consenting it going over -- that's a nice point! :) Thank you for the comment! :)

I've always wondered what did Wei Ying intend to finish that phrase with. If he catches you, you will what? Trust him with your heart, finally? Let him take you wherever? Accept he's the one person that will be by your side forever, never wavering again? Ahh, that scene is so romantic and so personal for me as I have kind of a similar experience, leaping over a wide ditch and telling my boyfriend jokingly he'd better catch me or he'll never get to keep me. You can guess we didn't last after that ;) As for the golden core transfer, my take is that noone can just decide and take your core from you. You must be very very willing to give it away for it to materialize and go over safely. And if you lose consciousness you can't keep consenting so it dissipates.

The entire conversation between JC at lotus pier and what WWX says on the boat about him to LWJ makes me want to throw my copy of the novel out my window. I remember reading the scene where WWX wakes up in the novel and putting my face in my hands. He defends JC immediately when he gets up. Not only is he protecting LWJ through telling him to not worry about JC, but with the way he refers to JC as a "brat" and "someone that is outspoken" he is protecting JC image as well. I was so upset by this realization while reading. It goes to show that even after all that has happened between the two of them that WWX is still protecting his brother. And also that WWX does not hate his brother for the way he treats him. He most likely feels he deserves it. The problem between the two brothers is that neither of them can see past their trauma to reach for the other. WWX copes through avoidance. He believes that he is only hurting JC by being near him. He believes that he is protecting JC from himself by never reaching out to him. He believes that he truly was at fault for his sect's massacre, adoptive parent's death, and all the mistakes he made afterward taking care of the remnants of the Wen Sect. JC, on the other hand, is so hurt not only because he felt abandoned by WWX in the past. He feels the same now that WWX is here after coming back to life. Although JC has acted out in so many ways since the start of the novel, hurting others that don't have anything to do with WWX, attempting to hurt WWX himself. He obviously has no true killing intent towards WWX. He cares about him still after all these years. He most likely tried to convince himself at what he would do if he ever got to see WWX again after he died but when WWX came back to life he found he couldn't do any of that. What he truly wanted from WWX is a reasoning for the betrayal he feels. Deep down he knows WWX isn't at fault for his sects massacre. Deep down he knows it's wrong to blame WWX for everything that has gone wrong in his life. It's just easier to get angry at put all the blame on him rather than deal with the hurt and betrayal he feels when it comes to his brother. Despite that, though; every chance he gets when he meets WWX he can't help but question him and berate him. He can't help but look for answers from his brother but WWX won't say anything because he truly believes JC is right and there's nothing to say. He feels there is no excuses that would ever make up for what happened to their family and relationship *screams* just want a reconciliation between the two 😭 I haven't been keeping up with your Mo Dao Zu Shi series reactions completely but I am interested to see how you will react to the different adaptations and how they handle the brothers. I know you watched the dongua first and it ends right here for JC . Excited to see how you react to the live action and audio drama especially
