The Untamed: Episodes 46-47 FULL LENGTH Reaction!

**BRACE YOURSELVES FOR A HEADPHONE WARNING**

I have been waiting for the Golden Core reveal in The Untamed for a bit, now, and y'all did NOT disappoint with your hype for these episodes! NING! CHENG! WANGJI! These three in Episode 46 were AMAZING! The acting is MASTERFUL and there's just so much to gush about...

...and then we ALSO get Episode 47, where Yao shows his true "villain" colors and we get into Guanyin Temple! The STARES, y'all! Daggers fired everywhere, Cheng with a badass entrance!  Su She slandering! And oh, HuaiSang is conveniently "passed out" in the corner during it all. Nothing suspicious, here.

Thank you all for watching with me and for the support!

The Untamed: Episodes 46-47 FULL LENGTH Reaction!

Comments

Yessss, all the things with HuaiSang falling into place! I love it! When Su She brings him into the temple and Xichen has that “give me strength” look; it’s great! And it’s SO wonderful Ling seeing just how his uncle WuXian actually is – the power of Wangji’s speech! It’s great! And yes, there’s still some mystery left with it all and I love it! And ahhhh, I love that we try to get past the censors any way we can! And OH! Yeah, once the courtesy name comes out, you know it’s serious! And that catch! I like that he stays in Wangji’s arms for nearly 20 minutes! Yes, please! <3 We love to see it! I LOVE Ning in these episodes – he’s so great confronting Cheng, and Cheng’s actor is just FANTASTIC! And Wangji’s pained expressions?! This whole scene is just so wonderfully done! SO worth the wait for these actors to give their hearts out for this moment! And yes, it’s rare that we seen Ning and Wangji have a conversation, but what a conversation they have! It’s so great and YES! Yibo’s little micro expressions as Wangji during this conversation are sooooooo beautiful! And yes, WuXian is trying to look out for Wangji, but we know that Wangji is going to remain by his side forever at this point. 😊 And YES – CRYING ALL AROUND! T_T Thanks, Untamed! Oohhh, that’s awesome about the butterfly tattoo! I love that idea! I’m way too indecisive for a tattoo (and I’m phobic to needles), but that design would be beautiful! And WuXian being courteous and Wangji being jealous – seems legit! Haha! Ahh, thank you for reminding about the talisman! I also love that WuXian wants to play matchmaker….and is thinking of the future (with Wangji of course, hahahaa)!! And ahhhh, yes, that similar Yao smile! @_@ And yeah, you can’t take on killing a puppy! Hahaha, how dare he? :P And YES, that string is so gross and does look painful! And yesssss, I’m convinced there wouldn’t be any spicy scenes, but it’s so odd if you’ve read the novel to see these scenes WITHOUT them! Haha!! At least we have the books, haha! At least we still get Wangji looking lovingly into Wuxian’s eyes, even in the temple. I do love the design and layout of Guanyin Temple, as well. And YES! WangXian all alone, nearly on top of one another. 😉 Such chaos in the temple scenes but I love Wangji protecting WuXian, the badass entrance by Cheng, and all the XiYao angst! So good! Thank you for the comment!! I’m sooooo excited for the rest of The Untamed to come on this week and for the movies! 😊

Romaniablack

It's SO good! Yes, every actor just giving it 120% with the emotion!! @.@ And yessss, that part with Cheng saving WuXian allll makes more sense now! Our sour grape is so stubborn, but we know he cares! :3 And yes, still lots of loose MDZS threads to tie up post-Episodes 48-50, but it's crazy we're already at the end of the main series! Thank you so much for the kind words and comment! :D

Romaniablack

Thank you so much!! I really had fun with both The Untamed finale AND the chapters for the novel for next Monday! :D

Romaniablack

Ooohhhh, yesssss, hahahaha, I'm sure you all have guessed what part that is now! :P But I'm excited to get there! hahaha!

Romaniablack

You’re welcome! I look forward to seeing the last episodes with you, given that lil snippet on Discord is something to look forward to👀reaaaally hope I’m right with my prediction as to why you reacted like that but we’re gonna see🤣

Ivan is Yda

oh I can't wait for Monday!.. both for The Untamed and for the novel/audio drama =)

Hahahaha, here we goooo, right?! I really do like how MXTX describes the “mob mentality” and how it’s used throughout this story – it’s one of the more effective reflections on this in fiction I’ve read. I love Qiren opening up to WuXian and ooohhhh, the first bow in that cave? I’m down!! YES, I loved the core reveal, here! All of the actors were SO amazing at bringing the emotion out! Seriously, Ning stole it for me in the moment – his range was just wonderful! And of course, Cheng KILLS it. The “hothead” line makes more sense, though, and of COURSE LWJ gets jealous and Ning is seriously the MASTER of the third wheel art! Hahaha! That’s good to know about Mo Xuanyu’s core, though; thank you for that! That makes sense! I hadn’t thought about that with Ling resembling WWX, but you’re so right! And throwing the flute!! Love it! What I don’t love? The angsty, sad looks Xichen has. ☹ nooooo…not ready for it! Yessss, that string and Wangji’s devotion and dedication to keeping him safe! Yesss! It’s such a good moment!! I also hadn’t noticed the connection of WWX’s words to Su She with Yang’s, but that is so true! And HuaiSang…SERIOUSLY! He is SO devious as the actor, here! @.@ Unreal! Speaking of unreal, YES! Cheng’s entrance! That makes more sense with the swords, but I just LOVE how he shows up in the rain – so dramatic and fitting for our sour grape! 😊 It’s so frustrating we see him so badass here, and then Yao strikes like a darn viper! And I agree, Cheng is a complex, conflicted character, but he definitely cares for WuXian in his own ways and we DO see it on display in the Guanyin Temple scenes… Ahhhh, I’m excited for the next set of episodes, but sad it’s over! T_T Thank you so much for the kind words and comment!

Romaniablack

Oohhhh, I'll be interested to hear your thoughts with Episode 48! @.@ And there were three bows at the start; you're right! Then at the end, they go to do the third bow and Cheng interrupts! >.< I am all here for the WangXian sweetness, but I'll admit the love shown between WuXian and Wangji with the "confession" in the novel (I just got to) and the spicier bits are soooo good! And ahhhh...I'm not ready for next week; *nervous laugh* at least there's the movies, still! :D

Romaniablack

The golden core reveal in the Untamed is so good! Every actor is killing the scene! I assume that you have read the novel chapters already by this time, so I think you know that Cheng was not trying to save Wangji. Instead, he was trying to save Wuxian because he thought Yao was going after Wuxian and Wangji at the moment wouldn't have the ability to protect Wuxian. Apparently he cared so much for Wuxian, especially after the golden core reveal, but he just wouldn't admit it. Next week is the series finale! We are finally there. It's good to see everything finally wrapping up. I am soooo excited for next week :)

We love us background Nie Huaisang just letting all the pieces fall into place. Oh baby Jin Ling looking so shocked that of all people it's Wei Wuxian standing up against the mob to properly question things. I like him getting to see this side of Wei Wuxian's character. Mob: *all crying out* Lan Wangji: *speaks* Mob: *shut up and listen* He has so much power with so few words! I honestly love Lan Wangji saying "No evidence has been found yet", simply reminding Wei Wuxian to remain open-minded and not fall into the trap the Mob have. Nothing is clear yet, and until evidence comes to light the real truth is as yet unknown. Censorship? What censorship? Just two dudes giving their bows to their ancestors. Definitely not the beginning of a marriage ceremony! I *love* The Untamed managed to get this in here. You know you're overstepping when Wei Wuxian brings out your courtesy name. But I do really love how they portrayed this confrontation. So much pain all around. That dramatic WangXian catch. And then just hold. And hold. And continue holding. So frigging good. (Within the time of the episode Wei Wuxian spends 18 minutes and 32 seconds in Lan Wangji's arms from that dramatic catch when he faints) Our cinnamon roll zombie got an upgrade. He's so badass and commanding in this scene. Jiang Cheng being so broken by the knowledge. Lan Wangji just staring down at Wei Wuxian and realising this is the puzzle piece he was missing all the time from after they found Wei Wuxian again when he was thrown into the Burial Mounds. I always tear up when Wen Ning's voice breaks a little as he says his sister was also there. And then when he says with such pride how she was the best doctor in the Qishan Wen Clan. Of course that's when the show has to go and hit us with a crying Lan Wangji!!! And a crying Jiang Cheng!!! Not okay. I honestly think this version of the golden core reveal is the most emotional. Especially with how they pair it with the flashbacks. It means if you never realised it until that moment then you get kicked in the teeth with all those times that their careless words and actions likely cut Wei Wuxian. So much agony for all of them. It hurts so good though! And just when you think with them leaving Lotus Pier that the pain is over, we get this sweet and then painful conversation between Lan Wangji and Wen Ning. Wen Ning really proving, even though he's a fierce corpse, he's a better person than the majority of the Cultivation World. He chose to keep silent about Lan Sizhui's past for the simple reason that he wants him happy. That knowledge would likely hurt him more than help him, and so Wen Ning says nothing. Tears my heart out 'cause that's the only other member of his family he has left, but he puts Lan Sizhui's happiness first. Wang Yibo's throat bob in preparation of asking if it was painful gets me every time. It's such a small motion but it really shows you that he's scared/worried about the answer, but it's a question he needs to ask. And then his expression when he learns there was a fifty percent change of the core exchange not working? All the actors did a phenomenal job in this episode. Making us all hurt so deeply for these fictional characters. Lan Wangji: *remains silent after Wei Wuxian asks him to ignore what Jiang Cheng said* Oh Wei Wuxian sweetie, he's just like you. Lan Wangji's uncaring about what Jiang Cheng had to say about himself, but he won't ignore, forget, or forgive what the other said about you. Show decided the heartbreak of showing us Wen Qing again was not enough this episode. Instead lets add the pain of Jiang Yanli to the mix. They really decided that if Lan Wangji and Jiang Cheng get a crying scene with that OPT (one perfect tear) then Wei Wuxian needs one too. Lan Wangji: Only today. Wen Ning: *silently eating lotus pod seeds* Wei Wuxian: *thinking* What happened to Lan Zhan whilst I was passed out. Wen Ning, do you know what the f*** is going on right now? Wen Ning: *smiles happily 'cause Lan-er gongzi is providing for Wei-gongzi* The butterfly messengers are so pretty, but yeah I'm pretty sure this is the first time they appear in The Untamed. I'm planning in the future on getting a tattoo of a sakura tree and having a few butterflies fluttering around it. Originally it was just going to be Jigokuchō (Hell Butterfly from Bleach) but then I watched Tian Guan Ci Fu/Heaven Official's Blessing so the silver butterflies in it will be there too, and now thanks to The Untamed a Jin butterfly messenger will be added too. Wei Wuxian tries to be courteous and smile in thanks at the young woman. But a whiff of vinegar rises up around Lan Wangji who walks away. Wei Wuxian still tries to remain courteous with the young woman but he's definitely more focused on catching up to Lan Wangji, which I feel is why the nodding-bow is a little funny. The butterfly talisman (if I remember correctly) is something Wei Wuxian gave Lan Wangji way back in his first life when they were searching for the Yin Iron. I know Lan Wangji used one of them as a distraction to get away from Wen Chao when he was trying to return to the Cloud Recesses from the Unclean Realm. I think they did this not only as a callback to then but also to show Lan Wangji's sentimental side that he's kept it all these years. Wei Wuxian wants to play matchmaker for Wen Ning. Because following him around isn't an appropriate life...something Lan Wangji agrees with. Which my brain just automatically goes down the line of thinking that it's their kind and considerate way of losing their eternal third wheel! But honestly it is really sweet, and truly shows how much Wei Wuxian is thinking towards the future. What I love about the 'monk' is his smile becomes exactly like Jin Guangyao's when Wei Wuxian mentions his observation that the man isn't an ordained monk. Also you mentioning we won't get the bath scene. Nope instead we get a fade to black (like some romance films/shows with a more child-friendly rating tend to do just before the more risque things happen) and then suddenly it is night time. I mean I'm sure filling up a bath tub could have got passed the censors and *then* fade to black but I'm good with how they did it anyways. We've got the book and audio drama for the spicy scenes (as well as a whole load of fanarts and fanfics!). I'm with you. Jin Guangyao stabs a few people, poisons his sworn brother with music and has him decapitated and dismembered, marries his sister, potentially kills his own son, murders his father, and frames Wei Wuxian for multiple things; meh, that's all fine. "Chase and kill it." Oh it's on now. He dies. No killing Fairy!!! Lan Wangji's biggest regret was not standing by Wei Wuxian's side at Nightless City. There's no way he's gonna leave Wei Wuxian. And of course Jin Guangyao uses his knowledge of this to make Lan Wangji put down Bichen and seal his spiritual energy. Lan Xichen's also more than aware that, for Wei Wuxian, Lan Wangji will do it too. Though I've also always read that look on Lan Xichen's face as also being some guilt because it's likely from his words to Jin Guangyao about his didi that the other knows threatening Wei Wuxian is the best way to make Lan Wangji move how he wishes. I do have to say The Untamed really made the qin string so painful looking. And the noise it makes as it digs into Wei Wuxian's throat? Always makes me flinch/shudder a little. Of course the temple is beautiful. Jin Guangyao designed it. He's not only good at planning events and making them look gorgeous, but he's truly quite the interior designer! Jokes aside, the temple is really gorgeous. A perfect set for the climax. Though the seating arrangements makes me giggle: WangXian segregated to over at the side, nearly on top of one another; everyone else opposite them. An ill wind that blows nobody any good...enter Su She with an 'unconscious' Nie Huaisang! Another of Lan Xichen's 'give me strength' looks. Only this time it's because his San-ge brought Nie Huaisang into it. Also possibly because *of course* the Headshaker is unconscious and currently completely useless. Jin Guangyao just breaking Lan Xichen's heart by saying he doesn't have any choice. At this point I firmly believe there was still a teeny part of Lan Xichen wishing and hoping that Jin Guangyao could tell him and prove to him that everything everyone was saying was false. Wei Wuxian: *starts defending Lan Wangji and showing he sees past what others see* Lan Wangji: I am listening... The uncle/nephew moment is fantastic. See Wei Wuxian, this is why you never work with animals or children. They will ruin your attempt to be cool and have a badass monologue against the villain! Su She: *attac* Lan Wangji: *protec* Wei Wuxian: Well this is nice... Lan Xichen: Firstly, flirting in *this* situation. Really?! Secondly, clearly I need to teach my didi how to properly flirt. Romania: What? What's happening?? Me: Just Jiang Cheng proving he's still got it with the badass entrances! This may be my favourite of Lan Wangji protecting Wei Wuxian from Fairy. At least in The Untamed. It's all because of Wang Yibo's facial expressions, and then Xiao Zhan's awkward smile. Too damn precious. That comparison was NOT appreciated by Jin Guangyao! Such a look. I gotta say I love Jiang Cheng's backtalk: "isn't being your senior even harder?" Immediate camera pan to Lan Xichen who is just in pain central right now. Though it is upsetting that such words hurt Lan Xichen so much more, I feel like it shows that Jin Guangyao is used to similar talk and is able to ignore it. There's only one phrase a person can say that he won't rise above and show no reaction to ("son of a whore"). That is a question I would love answered too. The knowledge Jin Guangyao has makes it seem like he had a spy amongst those gathered at Lotus Pier. A spy that sent him a message with all the details prior to the others all arriving at Guanyin Temple. You saying about Nie Huaisang eavesdropping on all that's been happening made me think of a fancomic I saw last night. I'll have to share it on the discord but not until next week as it contains a slight spoiler for Episode 48. Which I'm not ready for because that means we'll be all done with the show. Thankfully we've still got the movies and the character songs. Amazing reaction and review as always!

Anime Annie

I'll be really short because I would like to say why I didn't like the fact that they changed the order in the Donghua compared to the novel and The Untamed but I don't know if you've already watched episode 48 so I'll wait for the next time. I just wanted to point out that there are three bows. I swear, I'm pretty sure XD XD Yes, they skipped the spicy parts here without thinking about it. XD But luckily they still left the sweetness of WangXian =) Here we are, next week the grand finale (at least for The Untamed). I'm not ready but I really want to know what you think about the ending =)

Rachele

WE’RE HEREEEEEE! OMG! Ok, I’ll try keep this short, but it might still be long lol. So, first of all, yeah, Sect Leader Yao is really too self-important, but he DOES make great exposition for the plot😂 MXTX really did want to emphasize the mob mentality thing, since it is a rampant thing. And I think she made this a great way to show that. The way they switched sides almost immediately was eerie, and Wuxian also found it stupid, based on his expression. You mentioned Qiren’s face, and I do agree. I think he’s starting to trust Wuxian’s word more. And I think he’s also starting to open up to the idea that Wuxian wasn’t all as bad as he thought he was. According to some theories, WangXian already DID the first bow, the bow to the ancestors, with Lan Yi in that cave👀 Ok, the core reveal was so heartbreaking! This is one of my favorite moments in The Untamed, Yubin, Yibo, Zhan, and Marius did SOOOO well! It was so good. Their acting actually made me cry so hard. To answer your question, yes, Mo Xuanyu DID have a core, but it was described to be so weak, and comparable to a child’s. Ning’s switch from angry and prosecuting to cute little baby in jus 5 seconds! Please, he’s so cute😭 You’re right, the translation is off there. On WeTV, Wuxian calls Cheng a “hothead” not a “badass”. Also Wangji getting jealous almost immediately 😂 And Ning always being the Master of Third-wheeling. 😂 I love how, during these moments, Ling resembles Wuxian a lot. Jumping straight into danger, just from curiosity and impulse alone. Wuxian was so cool! Throwing his darn flute😩 it was so good, and so cool! This is WangXian’s “We-told-you-so” moment to Xichen. Look how sad and ashamed Xichen looks🥺 This is another one of my favorite moments! The string at Wuxian’s neck, the desperation in Wangji’s eyes, the willingness to do everything just to keep Wuxian safe. THIS PART ALWAYS HAS ME AT THE EDGE OF MY SEAT! I know he won’t die, but the sheer panic in Wangji’s eyes makes ME panic! He just doesn’t want to lose Wuxian again, he lived that life once and he doesn’t want to go through it again. Also HOW? HOW did Huaisang stay SO STILL during all this? I know for a fact that boy’s not unconscious. Huaisang, you little poop!😂 Best Actor, indeed😂 I wanna punch Su She—I just wanna reach into the screen and just punch him. Just ONCE. I’ll knock him out good😤also, the way Wuxian plays Su She and riles him up. And his epic wordplay here! It parallels Xue Yang’s own principles: “I’m not afraid of death. I’m afraid of being bored.” CHENG’S DRAMATIC ENTRANCE, LETS GOOOO! Ok the fight is a bit confusing but the reason he does that with the swords is to drown out the noise of the Guqin that Yao was playing, this way he wouldn’t be affected by it. Despite the misunderstandings though, notice how Wuxian was still able to guide Cheng into disregarding Yao’s words. But Yao knows what buttons to push so it was useless anyway, cause Yao used the Core Reveal immediately after. I stand by my thoughts from last time😤 Cheng still deeply cares for his brother. He still fears losing and failing Wuxian again like last time. He just doesn’t know how to deal with these thoughts, so he uses anger as a way to cope. But he still manages to protect Wuxian, and to me that reflects how Cheng had always wanted to protect his brother but never did. Since my theory, the one that extends from that hidden moment in episode 43, has some nivel spoilers, I’ll just state it all in the next episode…which is the last one…and I’m gonna cry coz it’s done now 😭😭
