Holy cow, this volume and the start of this arc sure is...different! The tone shift goes into darker waters - literally - as we move to the Water Tribe and come into contact with the sinister trafficking of the drug Nadai and see the effects it's having on the coastal areas, there!
We also meet RiRi, who is a character full of parallels to Yona and Tae-Jun, and we also get lots of Jae-Ha angst, Hak and Yona Fanservice (OH, the Fanservice-y goodness), and more darker themes and violence than we've had in Yona in a while...it's a shift that is definitely welcomed, though it DOES make me nervous for future volumes, too...*sweats*

YES! This show definitely just took a slight tone shift towards darker ground; it doesn't feel out of character or forced, but it's THERE! @.@ I love how much our girl Yona has grown and has worked to become stronger! And YES! I saw similarities with Tae-Jun and Riri, too, especially when it comes to the devotion to Yona! :) And I love the arc that Jae-ha is having -- wanting to keep others at a distance because he's afraid of the pain that could come...but wanting to get closer and protect them. Ahhhhh, good stuff! It doesn't hurt that the mangaka draws Jae-ha beautifully! Thank you so much for the kind words and comment, and have a wonderful day, too! :)

I love that this series usually has comedy mixed in but when the themes are getting dark the mangaka knows when to not use it. She takes themes that are sad and real serious. Yona was just pretty and badass this whole volume. This arc really showed/shows us how hard Yona worked and how much stronger she became. Love the similiarities between Riri and Yona. And also Tae-jun. And Jae-ha blaming all his emotions regarding the happy hungry bunch towards his blood. It makes sense for him, even when he was with the pirates he holded his distance to them. He seems like someone who was lonely for a long time and now has a hard time admitting that he cares for others. He could also be afraid to care for others because of that. Wish you a wonderful day!!

It's so sweet! Feel free to reply to only this one if you'd like! I mainly wanted to talk about Jae-ha this chapter, but I have to comment on you mentioning the Yona / Lili ship. I love this ship. They have such a sweet friendship with each other. I don’t blame the interpretation for Lili falling in love either 😆 Ah, also about Lili’s name. Most people in the fandom do call her Lili because of the fan scanlations. The L and R are pretty indistinguishable in Japanese. I personally use Lili because it makes me think of a water lily, which is perfect for our water tribe girl. Whatever you prefer, though. This isn’t a mistake in translation but rather a different choice. Her name could either be Riri or Lili because of the way the Japanese R works. But anyway, thank you for the reaction as always.
