Yona of the Dawn: Stage Play - Water Tribe Arc - FULL LENGTH Reaction!

*HEADPHONE WARNING*

This was my FIRST dive into a full-blown Japanese anime stage play, and I REALLY enjoyed it! Many thanks to @Lady_Mug for supplying the link and @KixKay for telling me about them! I forgot to edit you into the video itself, but THANK YOU!

There unfortunately wasn't subtitles for this, but that did NOT stop me from  my commentary and having a BLAST watching this! It was wonderful seeing the play acted out...if we can't get an anime of this, this will work! ^^

Thanks for watching with me and for the support!

Yona of the Dawn: Stage Play - Water Tribe Arc - FULL LENGTH Reaction!

Comments

I will say, I was a little skeptical of the wig work, but I have no clue what production night this was -- that was the only prope/stage business I would have expected more out of, but for the most part it wasn't a big deal -- the play as a whole was awesome and I loved the performances! :) I was really impressed with the choreography and how everyone was so seamless with the transitions in each part! And YES, that Hak x Soo-won energy was *chef's kiss* and add a really well-acted Yona into the mix? LOVE! :) Thanks for the comment! :D :D

Thank you for the DM about the subs!! I really appreciate that! :D I'll have them now if and when I want to re-watch! :) I think it wasn't hard to keep up because we all knew the story from the manga but yeah, Zeno was realllly well done in this! And Hyo hamming it up! I love when actors get the chance to play characters like that and just go for it! :) I LOVED Yona's actress in this -- she portrayed that transition so well! And I agree, the stage play adapted the emotions very well -- the scenes with Hak and Yona and Soo-won hit just like I'd hoped they would...right in the feels! And the humor was adapted wonderfully throughout, too! I agree! The Jae-ha Kija moments were really a treat; they knew their audience well, hahaha! But yes, no worries, I like that I got to see the play in its entirety without being distracted by the subs in this case. It would have been like that had I been there to watch, so it made the experience more...authentic...in that regard! :)

I sent you a dm on discord about the subs, so I won’t reiterate that here. Onto my thoughts about the stage play! This play did a really good job adapting the story. We got recaps, we got spot-on character portrayals, we got all the feelsssss. I feel like Zeno really shines in this play. I think Zeno’s actor was perfect as our energetic sunshine boy T_T The actor just looks like he’s having so much fun and yet is able to hide that underlying wisdom to him. Zeno and Hyo feel like they had such a blast as their characters. Yona’s actress did a good job at portraying the contrast between beginning Yona and present-Yona. You could really see how different they were as if they were two different people. It really shows how much she’s changed since she left the castle. When I was watching this series, I was really afraid that the emotional scenes wouldn’t hit as hard as they did in the manga - BUT I WAS WRONG. I felt Hak’s resentment and betrayal, I felt the withheld anger Yona had toward Soo-Won, I felt the heartbreak of seeing these three best friends having to be broken apart because of the actions they’ve taken. I think the stage play did a really great job with the humor, Kusanagi’s humor is amazing in the manga, and I think the stage play did a wonderful job at replicating it. AND THE JAEKI MOMENTS???? IM LIVINGGGGGG!!!! Is it just me or did it feel like they really amped the JaeKi moments in the stage play 😏😏😏😏 I’m glad you enjoyed it despite not having the subs (my bad for not reminding you about them!). But I think it gave you a chance to really focus on the acting and how well the actors performed their roles, so it all worked out in the end 😁😁😁😁

wow, this was so good. I love it *cheffs kiss* I mean I haven't seen this before so it was interesting to see, even though I'm a lil tipsy again. Because fun fact, I just lil over 2h ago got home after spending the night with a theatre group. And we were watching our old... our old stuff. So seeing something that doesn't make me cringe so hard that I have to drown myself in alcohol to be able to watch it, made this amazing. I mean this was genuinely so good (and they have a bigger stage than our whole theatre) And quite clearly an actual budget, unlike us. On the positive side tough our wig is better than all of their wigs together (yes, one wig. AND It's a tinsel wig) The actors really were in such a perfect rhythm and you can see all the effort put in it. I wonder if our group could ever do such things if we decided to try out smt other than a farce. BUt then again idk if it's possible for me to be the sandman, mastermind, idol, house robber and a stupid one from a hilarious villainous duo in the same play if we ain't doing a farce. The energy between hak and so woon is SOoo lovely <3
