This episode was all I could have wanted: Character development, Thematic exploration, action, mystery, and the plot is progressing! Thorfinn by the end of this is 17, a year older, and still miserable and a "slave" to seeking revenge for his father's death. And Askeladd knows it and is happy to exploit it.
The conversations in this episode were SO great and we have new characters, old faces returning, and the plot is picking up the pace! I'm SO excited to talk about this episode with you all, as I'm getting sucked into this show!

Thank you so much for the kind words and the comment! I LOVED this episode and was glad to bring Whiteboard-kun out; I have a feeling it won't be the last time this happens. Also, Whiteboard-kun lost a wheel a few weeks ago; it's back on, but he's been a little shaky since... -_-' But that fact that the manga STARTED in Episode 8 FLOORS me, especially considering the discussion from this episode! 2022-06-22 16:13:52 +0000 UTCHonestly you explored themes and areas of this episode I never thought about . How Bjorn cares for Thorfin and Askelad being a slave himself , to something like freedom. It never occured to me . And for sure I immediately thought about Kenny and his spiel when we got to this ep of vinland , haha. Usually I have something to add after your discussions, but you said everything i wanted to and more for this ep. If anything I was afraid Whiteboard-kun might fall, during this episode , seemed more excited than usual haha. For a fun fact, I said that last episode its how the manga started . It went up until we see Thorfin in his fathers ship here and then we go to flashback and see all the contents from Ep 1 till Thors death if i remember correctly. So its kinda interesting restructuring and gives different feel for the series . I personally think the anime chronological way of events, flow a lot better and gets us emotionally invested faster in Thors and Thorfin.
