Vinland Saga: Episode 10 FULL LENGTH Reaction!

**REFLECTIVE HEADPHONE WARNINGS**

This episode offers QUITE a unique introspective look at our mysteriously devilish Askeladd, as we get more into his head and outlook on the future, as he has a rare (so far) heart-to-heart with Thorfinn; not that our edgy teen is having any of it.

Speaking of the future and "not having it," we see how Ragnar tries to lay the best plans to get him and Canute out of battle, but Thorkell is NOT taking this whole "not battling" thing sitting down! Things are getting chaotic and I'm getting hyped!

Vinland Saga: Episode 10 FULL LENGTH Reaction!

This episode was definitely reflective and how the way we live shapes our views on life, interestingly enough. I love episodes that talk about subjects like this! And YES, Thorfinn’s subconscious is telling him that he needs to actually go and live, and forget revenge, but he’s so numb to the violence surrounding him and that he’s become part of, that he just doesn’t do it. Our boy is just LOST and he doesn’t seem to realize it. It’s a great contrast to Askeladd, who like you said, knows EXACTLY where he is and is trying to control what he can, but seems to know the aspects of his life he has NO control over…much unlike Thorfinn. It’s such a shame, because Askeladd seems to be TRYING, in his own, warped way, to teach Thorfinn about this…but like you said, tunnel vision. I love that talk on the hill; it’s so good and the animation and cinematography of it is wonderful. And then we have Thorkell and Canute and CHAOS. Because we have to remind the audience where we’re at in all this so far in the series! :) Thanks so much for the comment!!

I really liked this ep. Especially since i was not a fan of last two . It focuses on characters self awareness and the cyclical nature of human kind and how that kind of life shapes ideologies. Thorfin is stuck in a cycle. His subconsciousness is telling him to forget the revenge and go home and actually live a life . But due to his tunnel vision, due to his want for revenge he just wont do it . And it goes back and forth with each episode and the cycle continues . In a way he stagnates as a person without actually taking a step in any direction atm. He wakes up from a dream that shows the consequences of his current way of life into something that shows he has no regard for a persons life. Just seeing a dead persons body just near him , where he sleeps is quite telling how much the violence changed Thorfin. Askelad on the other hand is fully aware of these cycles, of his own mortality and life of a viking . He knows it and semi accepts it as a part of the current world . So he will do what he does best and what he knows best. His own understanding of where he fits in this world , keeps moving him forward at the moment . And the funniest thing . that self awareness , that experience is looking straight into Thorfin and trying to teach him something. And Thorfin is not having any of that because of that same tunnel vision. So the cycle keeps going . Honestly that whole talk on the hill between Thorfin and Askelad was the highlight of the episode . From just direction standpoint and how the art and colors were shaping the tonality of that whole scene . Askelads more contemplative approach and Thorfins lack of awareness was really done well. The show creators just know when to stop , take a moment to breathe and have a dialogue , And to my mind these moments so far have been much more effective than the action set pieces. (not saying they were bad tho) Other than that , Thorkel showing up and just attacking Canute and his 4000 men army is just in character for him. Its just pure chaos with him , haha.

Ohhh, interesting -- I had some theories that I developed from Episode 11, but this information might dampen that, since you revealed his name, haha! My theories in the next video are going to sound rather silly, knowing this...oops.
