Ace of the Diamond Act II: Manga Volume 24 Reaction & Review!

The game against Sousei to advance to the Semifinals has been a GREAT one and the last few innings showcase how much the team wants this win! Furuya's on fire, Nori's our "pillar of stability" and Yui has a new nickname: YOUNG HERCULES! I don't know which is more endearing: Sawamura's love of his kohai and giving everything his own nomenclature...or seeing the graduated third years all be proud of their underclassmen! :3
But amidst the heartwarming hilarity and our boys being bold (Asou, my dude! Sawamura, what's this?!), our dear mangaka TJ is setting up some situations that I'm not too sure I'm going to like...TJ, aren't you going to let us have nice things?!

YES! That’s such a great point to bring up – our boy Sawamura is in “SPONGE MODE” which is quite scary, because of all the potential, but in the besssssst way! I’m so excited for our boy! <3 And him being able to give advice to Yui was so precious! And YES, Yui is in Sponge Mode as well, so you KNOW he’s already filed it away and carved it into his brain. :3 I don’t get Young Hercules, either, but I’m here for it 100%. We see Yui looking up to Sawamura and then Koshu looking up to Nori, which is adorable, I agree! That scene is going to be SO AMAZING when it gets animated – there’s so many I’ve “checked off” in my mind as being amazing animated. :3 Remember when Miyuki was so inconsistent? Hahaha, glad that he’s grown just as much as our other players! But that’s a good point; Sawamura’s really not about that walk life, IS HE? @.@ But that handshake with Miyuki and Nara was great and ooooohhhhh, I didn’t realize that similarity from Season 1! That’s a GREAT callback! Yeah, Nara grew on me over the course of the game! But that panel where Miyuki is the last one to realize the casual strategy will always be one of my favorites! :3 It’s good to keep our Cap from getting too cocky, haha! Just kidding! I love that idea of Ryo getting a slice of humble pie, which IS interesting – he’s still got that savage side on standby, but I like that you can tell he’s trying to be nice to his brother and is happy to see Kuramochi again. :) And yeah, he seems definitely nostalgic for his old keystone combo, poor guy! T-T Chris and I are on the same wavelength with Chris – he is wolf boy to Chris like Koshu is to Sawamura! :) The panel of Asada meeting the past Room 5 members is life-giving as well. The bottle scene with Nor – glad it’s “fated.” Still hate it. NOPE, TJ. STOP IT. Seriously, the health insurance rates for this school must be insane. Zono, don’t make it worse, hahaha! SEMIFINALS, Y’ALL. Alsoooooooooo just want to note that Miyuki making the EFFORT to sneak into that pitching session and “feeling left out” – ooh, Miyuki how you’ve changed! :) I love it. Sousei was a fun team and I really liked the message that the coach and team had surrounding it, but now it’s Seidou vs. Ichidai Third….omggggg….I’m excited…just…nervous about Nori. *sweats* We’ll see how things go, though!! And a few sports series suggestions I would like to give you are Ao Ashi it’s a soccer anime and it’s first season is currently airing (will have 24 eps) and I love the manga a lot and then also Be Blues it’s another soccer manga (sadly no anime I pray for one) and it’s amazing they’re both in my T5 for sports series with Ao Ashi being my 2nd favorite only behind Diamond no Ace

2022-08-11 22:46:07 +0000 UTCSomething that I really love in this volume is how intently Sawamura is studying Miyuki and Furuyas battery. Like genuinely he's sitting there trying to figure out what they're going to call for. It shows such learning from him for how to call a game. Not just learning from Mei and Inashiro and Ichidai, also learning from his own teammates and I love that. The double play between Haruichi and Kuramochi is one of the scenes I'm looking forward to seeing animated THE MOST. It took me ages to even realize what Haruichi had done in that moment but seeing it animated out will be so good. It's so funny to see all these teams being so intimidated by Miyuki as a batter. They all just wanna walk him so they don't have to deal with him lol. I know it's a logical strategy but it really is quite a boring one lol. There's some pitchers in this series that would NEVER go with that strategy, our sunshine boy included lol. We never really got to see Masuko and Zono interacting when Masuko was still at Seidou but I do love thay they share a bond in both being the 5 hole. Masuko knows the pressures or trying to improve himself so the teams can't just walk Tetsu and go after him so it's nice to see him looking so proud of the player who took over. It's so good seeing Sawamura dish out his own knowledge and experience to Yui. He doesn't do it in a preachy or condescending way just in a way that screams "trust me. I've been through it. Don't lower your guard" and I think Yui will remember it. Yui the Hercules is such a funny nickname and I really don't even understand where Sawamura gets some of them lol. It was SOOOOOO nice seeing Koushuus thoughts on Nori this volume. Nori definitely doesn't get enough praise in this series even from his teammates so seeing someone just really appreciate Nori for where he is now is so sweet. I think the thing I loved most about Miyuki and Naras handshake was the direct parallel to Sawamura and Raichi from season 1. Seidous first game with Yakushi, afterward Sawamura grabbed Raichis hand to shake and marveled at how rock hard it was from all the calluses with how hard he worked. Miyuki marveling at how hot and hard Naras hand is just reminded me of that scene. I really like Naras character. I'm convinced Ryousuke got humbled in college which is why he came back to this game so humble and not savage lol. He was clearly so nostalgic about his partnership with Kuramochi and how Haruichi was before Ryousuke graduated. I imagine if you're not playing in many of your teams games in college, seeing your old teammates and partners would make it very difficult to not be somewhat jealous. Sawamura is never going to be calm with Chris and I love it so much lol. He really is like a dog seeing their owner after a long trip. He must want nothing more than to impress Chris and honestly I understand that so much lol I appreciate TJ for throwing in that little panel of room 5 past and present meeting lol. I'm positive Sawamura went and found Asada to bring him to Masuko but it's just so cute lol I love how much the reporter man praises Sawamura. Calling him a young ace who's shown incredible growth in a short amount of time. It's so nice that this member of the media always has his back. Its so funny the way Nabe confirms what Souseis strategy was to Miyuki back at the school. Like everyone but Miyuki knew what they were aiming for lol. Prodigy genius catcher can't imagine such a casual strategy 🤣🤣 Ah the fated Nori/bottle scene lol. I really was waiting for you to get to that scene cuz I knew you'd hate it. TJ refuses to let this team have a neutral advantage or even a neutral state of starting a game. Always some kinda drama lol Zono hitting his foot with the ball was just idiocy though lol. He was so cocky about his hit during the game that he really just didn't even think about it. Seidou is the unluckiest team in Japan. Nothing better than Miyuki creeping into Sawamura and Koushuus pitching session lol. He felt left out and wanted to involve himself. He's not letting Koushuu get any advantage in love 😛 As far as Sousei goes, I like the direction TJ took with their team. They reminded me a bit mentally of Maki when we first met them just a lot of jealousy and anger at not feeling good enough but this time their anger wasn't against Seidou as a team or any team in general, it was against the audience WHICH HONESTLY good for them lol the audience in this series sucks. I really like Nara as I said earlier but their coach and Nagira are both also really cool and good for the team. They're more serious then a lot of teams we see. Excited for next week 🎉🎉
