We jump from the tragic, angst-filled backstory frying pan into the full-steam-ahead -with-the-story FIRE in this volume! It's good to be back in the present timeline with Yona, Soo-won, and Hak! ESPECIALLY WITH HAK!
Yona shows her leadership abilities, Soo-won is at his frailest so far, Hak is putting two-and-two together, the dragons are back, and a new antagonist, Nyan-nyan enters the fray! New secrets, romantic moments, and a frustratingly addictive cliffhanger?! It's what I love most about Yona of the Dawn!

OMG, I had to share that link to the Discord, because Hak's voice = <3 I could listen to it ALL DAY! And that makes sense that Yona didn't trip. :) I'm so glad Meinyan is here as well -- Kusanagi just knows how to draw tough but beautiful women! <3 Thank you for the comment!! :D

About Yona tripping, I think it's actually Soo-won losing balance thus bumping into her and that's how she slips. Meinyan is finally here!! Why is every women in AkaYona so pretty and badass?! And yessss, Hak is going to to be on the struggle bus, wrestling between whether he can forgive Soo-won for his betrayal to him and Yona, and the fact that his soulmate/friend is suffering…I’m soooooo interested in seeing if Hak will be like Yona and come together to help Soo-won despite it all! I want it to happen! The Hak Fan Service was AMAZING and that kiss? Him initiating it?! YESSSSS! Hak, share your feelings! <3 I just love that he’s growing more open about his love for Yona, and Yona saying he doesn’t have to be her bodyguard…be her King insteadddddd! I love how Yona stood up to Soo-won and defended her kingdom and herself; she has been so strong in these last few volumes and showing her growth! And the dragons reuniting! <3 I love it; poor Kija! T-T Hoh is so cute, and honestly, as crazy as Mei Nyan is in this volume, having read Volume 36, I’ve gotten a bigger appreciation for her character (more on that with VOL 36). It’s so interesting to get a new character like her introduced at this stage in the series, and for it to be someone that is so similar but also so different than Soo-won! Speaking of which, YES, he’s been such a strong and cunning character in this series and suddenly seeing him struggling so much is HARD. I love how he stayed true to his character but seriously…our boy is suffering and I want Yona and Hak to help him! Keishuk recognizing Yona is SUCH a huge step and I can’t wait to see where that goes! Kusanagi has planned this all so crazy and I’m nervous but excited to see where it all goes! Thank you so much for the kind words and comment! I can’t wait to see where the story goes!

I am so glad the rewatch was enjoyable for you and you saw things from a different angle with all the knowledge you have now 😄 Well end of the flashback for now, we go back to business and it feels good to be back on track after that walk down memory line !! Hak * noticing* and getting mad, because so won is frail (or weak in another translation) gave me goosebumps ! Hak will suffer through this illness because on one hand he still didn’t forget/forgive what Su Won did back then even if he learned to live with it , on the other hand , it is Su Won we re talking about, that is fatally ill , the childhood friend, friendly soul mate and the one he look up too! And when the sickness show, especially a serious one, sometimes all grudges, resentment and frustration go out the window, so will it be the same with our Thunder Beast?? Hak kissing Yona in the cell after her badass act to save his life was the highlight of this volume, because it’s been a while, because they didn’t see each other for some time and because it’s the first time he took charge and initiated the kiss!! And can we just send a big blessing for the Hak fan service she gave us this volume !! Bless you girl, bless you!! Yona, still the badass princess she become taking charge, standing her ground, defying Su Won , without being jaded by her knowledge but humbled by it and still protecting her tender heart that is precious!! I love that the dragons got reunited with her, Kija tears 😢 Now , enter a new player in the arena!! Mei Nyan, designed to be a royal bitch but at the same time suffering your whole life and knowing you re litteraly sentenced to death just by having the misfortune of descending from the CDK can put people in a bad place mentally !! So I can’t hate her for it !! And I love her little Hoh, Ao’s bestie now 😁 Su Won, I literally ache talking about him!! He is weakening and he has so much on his plate, but as he steeled and taught himself to count only on himself, could he open to Yona, I am sure he would love to do but think he can’t !! And I love how he stayed true to his convictions when he turned down Mei Nyan . Special mention to our boy Kei Shuk who cockblocked Mei Nyan hilariously. Talking about Kei shuk, I think it is ironic that the first one he thinks of after Su Won now is Yona, because Yona represent the better of both worlds , she wandered and learned the hard way about life and politics and had that strength and charisma to impose and pull the rug under her adversaries feet while being charming and smiling which is Su Won signature move and on the other hand, she had that divine aura with the four dragons being on her service and her clamied to be the reincarnation of the CDK. And even if he discarded the thought quickly as a betrayal to Su Won, it is here and it s taking root!! Kusanagi really planned it all well , as it was VITAL. Fir Yona to be out of the castle escaping with Hak , living it all before her Grand return as a mature changed figure . Omg! I can’t believe how much I ramble once I start talking about Yona .
