Heaven Official's Blessing//TGCF: Novel, Manhua, & Audio Drama Review - PART THIRTEEN!

**HEADPHONE WARNING**

CONTENT WARNING: There is some heavy language use from Qi Rong in this.

Oh hey everyone! Remember when I was a sweet summer child and thought the worst of the cliffhangers was behind us? Remember when I thought Hua Cheng and Xie Lian were just going to go on a whimsical evening stroll or date? WHAT WERE THESE CHAPTERS?!

We FINALLY meet the Trash King himself, Qi Rong, who DEFINITELY lives up to the name -- he has quite the mouth on him....and quite the face as well, as SOMEHOW Xie Lian knows him and SOMEHOW he looks eerily similar to our cinnamon bun deity...and Hua Cheng is NOT happy about it! Oh. My. Word.

Thank you for Reading with me and for all the support!

Right?! How frustrating! hahaha!! I am excited for the future chapters, though, and that's awesome about reading to your mom! That makes sense about the salt with meat preservation and it's so creepy but also kind of funny, too, just like Qi Rong, himself! And yes, it's not surprising to see XL not care about the kneeling statues anymore, but I agree -- we are all Hua Cheng -- you can't be so disrespectful to our divine cinnamon deity! <3 Thanks for the comment!

Nooo I did not think that he would be THIS much of a Trash King, but MXTX doesn't mess around, does she? Also, ooooh, that's a good point about the salt preservation! Hahaha, yeah, Qi Rong getting us to write the grossest stuff -- thank you for the comment!

I love how you knew when Qi Rong turned up he'd be a trash king, but you weren't quite ready for how much of a trash king he was. I always thought (maybe wrongly?) that the salt on the hanging corpses was Qi Rong's way of preserving his meat...i can't believe I just wrote that out, bleh.

This is quite the cliffhanger to leave yourself on Romania. I’ve been reading this novel aloud to my Mum in our free time and I remember we encountered this particular cliffhanger as well, so I have every sympathy for the suffering you’ll be going through trying to wait before reading the next part. (It does however make me look forward to next week’s chapters even more.) Meeting Qi Rong here was such a surprise and the description of his lair is equal parts creepy, hilarious and horrifying. The hanging bodies covered in salt made me think of salt pork and how salt was a means of meat preservation; I feel like they were very much walking through Qi Rong’s pantry. There’s a particular kind of detail that MXTX puts into illustrating the fact the Qi Rong eats humans that makes it extra disgusting. His golden goblets and jaded utensils, that extravagant table setting…all for people eating. I think Hua Cheng’s reaction was all of us when it came to the kneeling statues of Xie Lian. The way Xie Lian himself responds to seeing one is…,while not surprising by this point, no less painful than it usually is when he looks down on himself or expresses how used to mistreatment he is.
