Heaven Official's Blessing//TGCF: Novel, Manhua, & Audio Drama Review - PART SEVENTEEN!

*Headphone Warnings*

This is probably the biggest "chunk" of MXTX's writing that I've agreed to take on reading and my brain feels overwhelmed! There's SO MUCH to discuss with you all! Definitely going to need to process everything before the next part, but these chapters give us SO MUCH into Xie Lian's past in Xianle at the Royal Holy Pavillion:

Feng Xin! Mu Qing! Qi Rong! And a "tiny creature," named Hong. Who happens to have one eye ALL for Xie Lian. Can't be anyone we know...right?

Thank you for watching with me and for all the support!

Right?! I love that Xie Lian with both Mu Qing and Hua Cheng (and Qi Rong for that matter) is the one to show him compassion and a fair shake! And Hong’s kicking of Feng Xin is hilarious, given what we see from them in the present! 🙂 I do love what we’re seeing out of the trio so far in the past and how their relationships are developing! :) And maybe XL isn’t a “hoarder,” but it’s a VERY interesting contrast to see how many “trinkets” he was surrounded by growing up and then contrast it with him scrap collecting 800 years later. And add on the tragedy of not having an offering for his parents compared to the past? Oof. XL’s infectious personality, though; even before being a deity, he was getting everyone onto his side by his charisma alone. :3 I do feel for MQ in that moment, because yeah, admitting he found the gold leaf would not have gone well at all. It’s fascinating to see XL be “ahead of the game” in terms of how he thinks about things – but he’s so inexperienced; he has a lot to learn, our cinnamon bun deity. I SO want to do a fan art of QR – maybe I will for Discord soon while I’m on break. It’s too good to pass up, but what a little gremlin. Truly a trash king, even as a teen. XL angry is…hooo boy; SPICY churro! And especially for baby Hong. What a BEAN! He was smitten; “love at first rescue off a tower fall” indeed! Oooohhh, I like that comparison of the butterflies representing Hua Cheng and how he is – beautiful and seemingly delicate, but also TERRIFYINGLY strong! And yessss, we get family relationships explored, but it definitely hurts! I definitely think the abuse and lack of a complete family hurt Qi Rong…and there is some of it that is nature over nurture, too. QR just isn’t the same as XL. There’s a lot at work, there! But seriously, MQ can quit with these cliffhangers, hahaha!! How dare he! :) Thanks for the comment!!

Thank you for the kind words and comment – I’m surprised how fast I read them, but they were addictive chapters – you just couldn’t stop once you started! I love that we’re getting into these three in their teenage years, and throwing Qi Rong into the mix! What fun! >:) And setting up Xie Lian’s strength? Love it! Qi Rong and Hua Cheng are SO interesting, because they both seem to be so mischievous in life, it’s no wonder they became ghosts! It has me SO curious about their deaths, but I’m sure we’ll get into that later! :) It’s also interesting how HC keeps going back for QR; such history indeed! But yes, poor HC has trauma ingrained into him; I feel so bad for him! I just want to hug this sweet bean! Ooohhhhhhh….I had not CONSIDERED the reality that if only child XL takes the throne…the next in line would be QR or some cousin we don’t know of…OOF. Well…that would be…really bad. That’s something to definitely consider as we find out what happens in the story next! MQ seems a little bit of a diva, so maybe it fits that he’s the leader to the cliffhanger! Thank you so much for the comment and kind words! I can’t wait for this coming week! We’re finishing Volume 2!

These are some loooonnnnng chapters to read and thanks for your reaction! We get to know a lot more about XL, FX and MQ in their teens. This chaotic trio were good friends despite having different background: XL being the crown prince, FX likely from a civilian family but might be close to the royal family to have him been chosen to be the bodyguard of the prince at age 14, and finally MQ who has only his mom and stuck in poverty. But we know that eventually they fall apart and two of them were constantly fighting each other while not talking to the scrap-collecting third one. These chapters already show their difference in personality and I have to say, it's not that surprising that they didn't stick together till the end. XL super strong even as a human, if anyone got me a 50-pound outfit I'd be flattened on the ground in 3 seconds, and he still has the strength to perform 100 laps around the city if not for HC falling from the sky. QR was a total jerk even as a teenager and poor little Hong was literally dragged back on stage to be saved once again by his love-at-first-sight. He's described to be a vicious one even as a child, and this kind of personality is also lasting beyond death as even himself admits him being not a good person. No wonder HC earns his title by smashing through QR's lair. I'd say if not only for the fact that ghosts need to have their ashes destroyed to be fully terminated, QR would be long gone and HC would still dig out his ghost grave and had him smashed every other day. Even as a child HC has some serious self-trusting issues as he continues to try to cover his face from everyone else especially XL, trauma is indeed engraving. Actually, I was quite worried for the future of the kingdom……XL will surely become a god, and we never mentioned he has any brothers or sisters. So, the next in line to the throne would be QR the absolute SOB. I'd bet that even without the white calamity and whatever else there's been that led to the downfall of the kingdom, Xian Le is doomed. But who knows, maybe if there wasn't all that bad stuff, the king and the queen would have other kids and everything would be fine. And we don't really know aside from the human face disease and Yong An rebellion that's mentioned a bit here and there, what's more to face for this country, so begin saying 'what if' seems a bit too early. It's the second time MQ got chosen to be the one to deliver a cliffhanger! He as well as MXTX surely knows how to keep the suspense LOL. Again thanks for the reaction and looking forward to next week!

Xie Lian being the only one to give Mu Qing the benefit of the doubt and trusting him! 🥰 I love how unexpected Hong kicking Feng Xin in the shin is, but it's perfect comedic levity. Xie Lian nerding out when it comes to martial arts/weapons will never not be adorable. But holy crap the Da-ge vibes from Feng Xin with Xie Lian lack of comportment 🤣 Feng Xin accidentally hitting one of Mu Qing's landmines. "really didn't bring a lot with him" That all would definitely get classified as oversized and excess baggage. But it is honestly a great way to really hit home what a weapons' geek Xie Lian is. Of all the things he could have brought, the most important lots were his swords and books. Loved you calling Xie Lian a hoarder though! But then it hurt thinking about all the (most likely luxurious) items he once was surrounded by, and now in present time he doesn't even have a partially-eaten bun to give as an offering to his dead parents. It just goes to show how Xie Lian's natural character and abilities were a positive for him back then. I imagine getting the other trainees to respect and like him would be an even tougher job after having them all being corralled to search for a single gold foil. Especially when *after* they're all tired Xie Lian suddenly pipes up "Oh, whoops, my mistake. I'm not missing one." I do feel for Mu Qing. He was a servant. So who would believe that he found it and not that he stole it. "The Twin Jades" 🤣🤣🤣 Well with Mu Qing's physical descriptions I'd say he could fit right in there with the Lan brothers. But if you think about it, Xie Lian has some pretty high standards if all the others are mere common rocks. And such a compliment to one of Mu Qing's social status could be a tough pill to swallow for those of a higher standing, such as Feng Xin. The cherries and the pearl is such an intriguing concept and fantastic metaphor. It really just highlights how good an author Mo Xiang Tong Xiu is. And like you said Xie Lian has yet to learn the worth of both being equal. But in present time it seems like he has a greater understanding than a lot of other gods within the Heavenly Realm. Oh Qi Rong! It totally is his Super Sweet 16. I need fanart of Qi Rong as if he's on that old MTV show. He is *such* a little sh*t. But I love Xie Lian's no-nonsense way of handling his cousin. However he did need to be harder on him on a consistent basis. Then he might not have turned into such trash. Mu Qing definitely wins the first prize for Biggest Tsundere in Tian Guan Ci Fu! Your reaction to little bloody Hong 😭 But give me more raging Xie Lian! 🥵 Hong peeking at and then looking away from Xie Lian is too dang adorable 🥺 Hong being all sweet and pitiful with Xie Lian > Hong fighting everyone else. Reminds me so much of how Hua Cheng's butterflies are, as well as Hua Cheng himself. Qi Rong really doesn't learn from his actions. But a lot of that I blame on the adults in his life that have the ability to punish him in a way he understands he's done wrong, and not allowed him to become such a spoiled princeling. I love getting such a glimpse into the relationship of Xie Lian and his parents. Also Feng Xin's relationship with Xie Lian. All of it hurts though. For how Qi Rong turned out in comparison to Xie LIan, some of the blame could be on the king's side. Xie Lian had a close relationship with his father as a child, it was only when he got older that they drifted apart and had differing views. The king however was not as close with Qi Rong as the queen was. So Qi Rong hasn't had a proper and good father figure in his life, and this may have been the cause for how fervent his blind adoration of his cousin is. Qi Rong was royalty and so was treated by the king as such, but within these chapters there's no mention of the king being a caring figure to Qi Rong as he was to Xie Lian. A potential lack of peers could also have caused such the discrepancy between both characters. Xie Lian has had Feng Xin by his side since the latter was 14. There's no mention of Qi Rong having had anyone at his side in a similar fashion. And Mu Qing gets you again. Says his bit and then leaves you hanging. Again 🤣🤣🤣 If Mo Xiang Tong Xiu keeps using Mu Qing's mike drops as cliffhangers you may start disliking his character, or at least being wary of if he pops up towards the end of a page 😂
