Heaven Official's Blessing//TGCF: Novel, Manhua, & Audio Drama Review - PART EIGHTEEN!

LINK TO Season 2 Trailer Song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0h_A_ZI0lOE

We reach the end of Volume 2 of our TGCF journey, well into "Arc 2" now, and HOO BOY. Hong aka Baby Hua Cheng already has Xie Lian's sympathy, but seemingly ONLY Xie Lian's! Our poor boy has a darkness following him in the form of the "Star of Solitude" sign and I feel for him!

The song for the Season 2 donghua trailer is so beautiful, and the lyrics even more evoking, but y'all -- we're getting into so much detail into the connection Xie Lian's past has with his present, his relationship with Hua Cheng (that he doesn't even realize), and thematic goodies -- I'm SO READY for Volume 3, now! Let's DO THIS!

Thank you for Reading with me and for all the support!

"Just 6 more to go" -- Ha, haha ha ha *nervous laughter* I am loving this series, though, so I'm not complaining! I'm not ready to leave our boys yet! HongHong-er MUST be protected; I feel for this bean! And "hot teacher Mr. Mei" indeed! It's interesting to see how this idea he had has been tested at least three times -- it'll be curious to see if it's brought up again! And yesss, we can see the that XL did take some teachings from his guoshi and applied it when he was one, himself! And ahhhh, that's so fascinating about the calendars and ways of divinating, but OMG -- YEAH...it hit me that on the cart, XL was BUSTED in that moment because he doesn't know how to do it. WHOOOPSSSS. @_@ Thank you for the kind words and comment! Onto Volume 3!

Oh my gosh, ahahahahaha, that's SO true -- the guoshi WOULD base all friendships on horoscope compatibility. I agree -- there are some things the guoshi says I'm not in TOTAL agreement with, but I think for the most part, he's trying to give some good advice to XL; fate can't be helped, though, can it? Thank you for the comment!!

Man, this chapter was good. I'd forgotten how quotable this series is. I really liked the philosophical debate between Mei Nianqing and Xie Lian. Even though I might not agree with some of the guoshi's views, I can understand his points. And, for the most part, I think he's right. A wise man indeed. Oh boy, that scene with little Hong Hong-er crying. Xie Lian told him what he needed to hear (that he understands and that he was not in the wrong). Mei Nianqing is one of those astrology bitches… Like, "Damn, you're a Gemini... hmm. Yeah, no." Mei Nianqing: Don't ascend too young. Xie Lian: *ascends young* Mei Nianqing: ...

Congrats on finishing book 2! Just 6 more to go! Little Hong hong er! Must protect at all cost! And funny thing is when I first read this chapter I laughed and repeated this name several times despite myself, and my roommate was like "why are you suddenly pig snorting". The sound is indeed a bit similar LOL We're introduced to many interesting concepts during the conversation of XL and his hot teacher Mr. Mei. The most eye-catching one would be the story about "1 cup for 2 people". We're just 1/4 into the whole story and this situation has already presented itself again and again: Ban Yue faced it during the final battle, XL faced it at the banquet and already facing it back when he's human. Every time they choose to "give another cup" but by far none of the results seem satisfying. So, will he still stick to this idea 800 years later? The funny thing is Guoshi Mei didn't teach XL how to do divination because it's "street trick, not for a noble prince" and XL didn't persist because he's not interested in it, and we've established that he regrets this decision 800 years later as he cannot make money on streets with divination. Yet, he used the exact same excuse when LQQ asked to learn that sword technique to bear the damage from both sides (again, 1 cup for 2 people situation) and he told his student a similar story. Like teacher like student, I guess? Telling one's fate from the exact birth time is quite common knowledge in China. It's not like we all know how to do it, but most people do believe in the existence of such a thing. For example, matchmaker would have both birth time of the boy and the girl to divinate if they're a good match or not. And we have those kind of calenders showing for each day what's advised to do and what's advised not to do so people can decide on the date for special occasions like hosting a wedding/funeral, moving into the new house, digging a well etc. HC must've known his ill fate from very early and he still smiles at XL when the latter was 'reading his palm' on the ox cart and bullshitting those nonsense about a good fate, some splendid future filled with flowers. Our poor divine bean has no idea he's already been busted LOL.
