By trapping our hopeful-pairing-to-be in a cave together under the least appropriate circumstances and have our protagonist resort to self-mutilation to stem off either sexual harassment or murder: YAY! MXTX...what are you doing, you mad woman?!
These chapters were about as FAR from what I expected as possible, but the CONNECTIONS! THE THEORIES! THE DANG HUMAN FACE DISEASE INTERRUPTING ME GETTING ANSWERS?! *sigh* This is going to be a long, wild, ride, and we're not even halfway through volume 3...

Oh you're fine! :) Yeah, the omegaverse vibes were THERE! I'm very glad that Xie Lian was doing all he could to protect Honghong and keep him out of harm's way, but NO JOKE -- HongHong having his sexual awakening in THIS WAY?! Poor guy!! Ahh, I'm not going to read the last paragraph on Mu Qing, if it's cool -- because like I said in the discussion, I don't want to read any theories or things from novel readers that would be confirming or de-confirming my theories. I'm hyper vigilant about spoilers, and sometimes novel readers in posting their own theories, can input ideas based off what they've read in the future that we haven't gotten to yet, especially about characters like Mu Qing that I only have a limited scope on. I hope that makes sense; I just didn't want you to think I didn't read the rest of your comment for no reason! :) Thank you so much for the comment and kind words and I'm EXCITED to get into this week's chapters! :D :D

I totally cackled when you brought up omegaverse...like...you're not wrong. the vibes were absolutely there. Going off what you said about being relieved that MXTX didn't take it to where some BLs have in regards to Honghong's age, I totally agree. I'd have to reread the chapters again but I'm fairly sure that there's no instance where Xie Lian has any sexual thoughts about smol Hua Cheng. In fact, he does everything he can to protect him and the forced *ahem* horniness seems much more general and isn't targeted, which is good to see imo. Even in the bit where Hong is accidentally feeling Xie Lian's skin trying to find his hair, I think Xie Lian's reactions are just reactions to touch in general, it could have been anyone touching him and he would have burned up. That's my opinion anyway! Of course, on the other hand, poor innocent Hong is definitely having some struggles with his thoughts being targeted on a certain someone. What a way to have your sexual awakening... Re Mu Qing's jealousy, another thing to add to that theory is that remember that Xie Lian once told Mu Qing that he would be good with a sabre over a sword, and that's what helped Mu Qing become a martial expert; he also uses a sabre. So hearing that this 13 year old kid is getting praise even earlier for something Mu Qing probably thinks of himself a little unique in Xie Lian's eyes for...oof, hello inferiority complex!! And I just thought of this now, but both of them also come from a much less privileged background. Even though we know Xie Lian would never replace Mu Qing, it's definitely possilble that our little cat tsundere is taking some things personally. Can't wait for the next reaction!

We all deserve a HC that will listen enthusiastically to us! That is a FAIR point – I feel MXTX looked at MDZS and thought, “Well, that had some gory moments…what if I made them GORIER?!” And we as a fandom collectively take a step back, haha! We get Alice in Wonderland AND Star Wars Disney references! :) Yay! Also, “He Who Must Not Be Named” indeed! Honestly, I think that there was NO CHANCE XL or HC were ever attracted to women, so no need to fear them, unlike FX! Hahaha! HAHA! The Spanish Inquisition line is perfection and NO! Nothing could prepare me for these chapters and how unexpected they were! But all the parallels and connections? LOVING IT! Just…maybe tone down the self-harm, MXTX. We get it, we get it – our cinnamon bun deity needs some loving! But YES, what a tease MXTX has been with these chapters! Thank you for the kind words and comment! And YES! Feng Xin is Gimli 🤣 Though also means then that Hua Cheng is Arwen 😍 I *love* Xie Lian geeking out so much that he actually manages to forget the life-and-death situation they're basically in. This and people not listening to his rambles reminds me a lot of me geeking out about things to non-fans. Mo Xiang Tong Xiu really took the gore tag to the extreme. Especially with her descriptions in Tian Guan Ci Fu, in comparison with Mo Dao Zu Shi. And now we've got flower succubi...I will admit to having read sex pollen FanFics before but nothing like Mo Xiang Tong Xiu's version. And yes when the flowers started speaking to Hong Hong-er I also thought of Alice in Wonderland. Just a much more Mature version. When I first read that whole "'He' is 'him'" basically made me think of this character as Mo Xiang Tong Xiu's Voldermort; just on a more horror-movie level. That likening to Star Wars...Xie Lian is Qui-Gon Jinn, Hong Hong-er is young Obi-Wan Kenobi, and the flower demons are Darth Maul. Why does this work so well? Also does that count as another Disney reference, now that Disney owns Star Wars? 🤣 It's truly a wonder after this experience with the flower demons that Xie Lian and Hua Cheng don't have gynophobia like Feng Xin! After Bai Wuxiang's entrance in the previous set, I bet you weren't expecting Hong Hong-er's sexual awakening! Nobody expects the sexual awakening (in my head that made me think of the Monty Python line "Nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition!" 🤣) In the past it was unintentional on Hong Hong-er's part. In the present it was unintentional on Xie Lian's part. Both times Mo Xiang Tong Xiu gave specific mention to their Adam's apples. It's such a perfect parallel, and I love it. *All* the pain for Xie Lian these chapters...and so much of it is self-inflicted. But honestly that hurts more. "Before he could speak" *Romania brings out the fisticuffs* 🤣🤣🤣 Mo Xiang Tong Xiu is a TEASE! But there's four chapters and Mu Qing didn't cause a single cliffhanger...or, considering your suspicions of him, did he? 🤣 Romania: I've seen things in Mo Dao Zu Shi I can't un-see Me: She means Bichen, doesn't she? 😂🙃
