WELL, this was...SOMETHING ENTIRELY DIFFERENT than what we've had the last several weeks in terms of tone, humor, exposition -- EVERYTHING!
But I would be lying if I said I wasn't happy to see The Windmaster back again and OH MY -- Xie Lian has barely left the fire with his ghostly cousin before he's caught up in more controversy! And that's before we even start TALKING about this fancy to-do Mid-Autumn Festival, that apparently has wiggled its way into the plot now.
I was FLOORED by these chapters, but man, it DOES feel good to get back to the present timeline! ARC #3 is a GO! Thank you for watching with me and for all the support!

I love that dynamic between QR and Xie Lian – I love that these two are related – it makes their banter and have a whole extra layer! But yeah, XL just waving around that HC could beat him up. I’m sure HC would ask him to keep talking! ^^ That’s cute to know about Guzi being a nickname or his first name – wellllllll, of COURSE there are fan fics about QR and him…but….like….GROSS. QR and a child? Nope. I can ship many things, but I don’t think I can support that one. Ew. I FEEL for Pei Jr.! He just wants to protect Banyue! I just want the world for him – but seriously, Pei Ming wanting to take Banyue back and make her be the scapegoat for Pei Jr. I am SO glad that pickles saved the day! The Windmaster is the best wingman EVER! Yeah, I am curious what we’ll find out about Lang Ying, but hoping everyone lets me stay spoiler free ‘til we find out! :) Your description of the banquet is SPOT ON! I feel so badly for XL – it sounds like the WORSTTT, even if Windmaster is trying to make XL feel like the “belle of the ball!” OOohhhhh, I forgot about that curse from Xuan Ji! Yesssss – I’m excited to see more of Pei Ming and Ling Wen hopefully together, to get ANYTHING more with them potentially! QYZ has my ultimate curiosity at this point but XL – noooooo - I just want him to pass the cup on quickly! Get it out of your hands! You don’t need this good sir! And man, Yizhen, what a way to introduce him, eh?! I do agree; I like the use of the plays to get to know the characters more -- now to hopefully NOT see any more sadness with our cinnamon bun deity! Just so many fantastic moments. Pei Ming covered in pickles. Qi Rong being forcefed by a child. Windmaster outsmarting Pei Ming. Windmaster extrovert friend at a party (god it really totally is like having that outgoing friend who gets you to sit with them and you're just like...haha...*pats the dog* i relate to xie lian so much). Quan Yizhen introduction and him and Xie Lian looking at each other like 👁👄👁 and that he beats up his followers. Hot potato - wine edition. then the PLAYS. I just think they're such a fun story device by MXTX to get an insight into the other characters but also what other people think of those characters, both other gods and the mortal realm. As per usual, can't wait for next week !!!

QR is like this unruly kid telling his good-kid cousin to f*ck off and going "what, you're running to your (sky) daddy again?" and good kid XL being all sassy "nope, but my new boyfriend happens to be the notorious town punk, I may invite him over this time if you don't keep your filthy mouth shut" Guzi literally means millet, and likely it's his first name or maybe even a nickname, so we don't know the family name of him or his dad whose body is taken by QR. And since we're talking about incest later, there's also this fanon ship about QR and the kid……chaotic readers really would ship everyone together. The Pei generals are back! PM continues to be a womanizing a-hole and Pei Jr. still has a long way to go in this Romeo and Juillet relationship. Windmaster best gremlin wingman ever! And according to him the bandaged boy Lang Ying is acknowledged by the emperor aka the top boss of heaven, maybe with his bureaucratic influence, we can have palace of Ling Wen rushing the search about the boy's past? The mid-autumn banquet, basically the corporate annual party where everyone puts on their best outfit and enjoys random coworkers' OOC fanfic over drinks. And XL is that one dude desperately wanting to go back home but got stuck in the front row with an over-energetic buddy. We have no idea whether PM and LW have a secret relationship or not, but if PM did fell for her while she remains distant and refusing, it would fit perfectly the final curse of Xuan Ji: "burning forever in the fire of love, every organ turns into dust" QYZ the martial god of west is here! He has to be so extraordinary that while he "occasionally beats up followers" he remains in his position. Afterall, we've all seen what believers can do when gods fail them in volume 2…… Oops, XL got the cup! Given his personality, it wouldn't surprise me if he just jumps onto the stage and performs himself. Or maybe HC would kick down the front door once again and show everyone once again "how to kill 33 heavenly officials overnight"?
