MONSTER: Episode 16 FULL LENGTH Reaction!

**TENSE AS HELL HEADPHONE WARNINGS**

I was NOT prepared for how tense this episode decided it needed to be! Going into this episode, I was not sure how Tenma and Nina were getting out of their situations, but BOY, did this episode take me on a RIDE...and we're just getting STARTED.

Not sure I can wait a week for the next episode...is this the beginning of the urge to binge?!

Right?! The idea of isolating someone until they are FORGOTTEN -- I hadn't thought of it that way, but that is TERRIFYING! I'll have to bring that up in a future discussion! Nina has become such a good character! I really felt bad for her losing Ayse without being able to help her. But also YES! OMG! Dieter is such a little hero! I love how mature he is (though I'm really sad he's been in a situation to make him grow up like that T-T ) and I'm counting on him to help keep Tenma grounded...you can do it, young man! Thank you for the comment!!

Names make us who we are... give us identity, and a sense of self. The concept of taking away everyone who once knew you, like Johan is doing to Wolf, is not only sad, but scary because it means there's no one to remember you as /you/ anymore, or to call you by your name, and reaffirm your identity tied to that name. We don't know anything about Johan and Nina/Anna's real names, or if they even had any, but that adds another level of eeriness to what he's doing to Wolf, because taking away everyone who ever knew your name, causing you to forget your own identity and start to question if that even /is/ your name, emulates the same feeling that someone might feel who never knew their name to begin with, I think. Anyway it's really disturbing; way too existential for me!! Poor Nina and Ayse; their friendship lasted not five seconds before they killed her πŸ˜πŸ’” the way Nina continued to insist that they were friends though even after her death..... ahhh it made me emotional. She's too good πŸ₯² Dieter is a little badass and he should be the hero of this show, honestly. Clearly he's the only one getting shit done, unlike the adults πŸ˜πŸ˜‚πŸ’€
