Welp, this may be one of my favorite episodes of the series so far.
The production, the visual narrative of the flashback and its affect on Kakaru's psyche, the quiet moments and support from Haiji, that FINAL TEAM SCENE?! So much backstory finally bubbling to the surface, and a moment of team bonding that's one of my favorites in the whole series...this episode was just flat out GOOD.

Ahhh, YES! I love Kakeru "coming clean" with all of them and their support of him! That acceptance and care that he's been denied with a team, but experiences here was SO satisfying! I am glad we finally got his backstory and that the team is going to help him move forward towards the qualifiers and Hakone Eikenden. SUCH a good episode, and I'm excited for Episode 14 as well!

Also seeing Kakeru's revalation of being accepted and happy with a team(something that he's used to being oppressing) is very satisfying and it was told so well. I cannot wait for next week

2020-12-24 01:34:49 +0000 UTCThis whole episode was suchhhh an amazing bit of narrative storytelling from start to finish! And YES! That moment at the end with Hiaji -- he represents the sunlight coming into Kakeru's life, erasing his gray clouds of uneasiness and doubt. UGH. I love this show!

2020-12-23 18:01:47 +0000 UTCMasterclass of visual (auditory) story telling. I love how it was Haiji who snapped Kakeru out of it after he tried to punch Sakaki. And Yes Haiji loves to burn Sakaki. The moment the sun rises and shines through the tree withe up swell in the OST just gets me every time.
