I haven't done a 180-degree flip in emotions with an anime since Banana Fish, but here we are...man, I went into this episode feeling a LOT different than I did coming out!
Jiang Cheng...WuXian...my boys....I'm so sorry. T_T
No words, only sniffles. WELP. Way to start building towards the climax of season one!

WuXian can be prone to act quickly without taking a super long time to strategize, but it was unfair that he had all the blame seemingly put on him, especially when he's trying after Yu's words to him to keep Cheng safe. I felt bad for him in the last half of this, and ESPECIALLY bad for Cheng...him crying and screaming for his parents was SOUL CRUSHING. And ahhhh, ALL the symbolism in this...there was SO much. And YES, Wing is a precious boy and totally MVP of this episode. I like how he was respectful, too. It's so sad...I agree, his robes are probably just decayed there. Man...from here out it's a roller coaster? Yaaaaaaaaaaaay, and I thought the angst was ending with Banana Fish. ;)

2021-03-01 19:06:56 +0000 UTCHmm, some might argue that Wei Wuxian does not think things through. Wuxian gave the Wen's an excuse to attack. Maybe if it had happened at a different time Yungmeng would have been ready and able to repel the attack. That scene with Jiang Cheng, how they animated his switching emotions - pain, anger, etc and then the voice acting breaks your heart. Then taking out his anger out Wuxian, so many emotions. I love the symbolism of around Madame Yu & Fengmian, the hair pin fall out of his clothes and then the Yungmeng standard falling across Fengmian's shoulder. Wen Ning BEST Boy and MVP. I love how he respects that poor disciple, by tying his Yungmeng bell back on his belt. And then he saves Cheng and Wuxian multiple times. His robes in episode 2 are grayish and could be decomposed or could represent something. It's a roller coaster from here out.
