Mo Dao Zu Shi Season 2: Episode 1 FULL LENGTH Reaction!

Ohhhh, SO MUCH happens in this episode! I'm already hyped and curious about everything being set up:

* This new guy, Yao, and his connection to best boy, Xichen
* The feral hand and the coincidental circumstances of it all
* More flashback goodness (or pain, however you look at it)
* WuXian and Wangji as detectives?! YES, PLEASE.

And a new OP and ED...it's so good to be diving into this second season!

Thanks for watching and for the support of the full length reaction!

Mo Dao Zu Shi Season 2: Episode 1 FULL LENGTH Reaction!

Oooh, thank you for the recommendation!! I will definitely get to the novel first before The Untamed, if that's what you're meaning. ^^ It will be nice to fill in those gaps with the novel! :D :D

Loved your reaction! I'd definitely recommend checking the novel out first before the drama, since the drama does have some pretty big plot changes/additions (although I really loved it too!). And this season of the donghua does move pretty quickly and skim over/skip a lot of things, so the novel kind of fills in those gaps.

Thank you for the kind words, Wes! That is crazyyyyyy....I'm really curious now to finding out the reasoning behind it all! If not, I'm definitely going to get to it in the book! @.@ Mannnn....everyone's getting me hyped for season three now, haha! And that makes so much sense about the hand-scene now! So Wangji is ALL IN on the WuXian train...I can't believe how much he's changed from the start of that flashback...that's love for you, I guess. :3 Ooooooooooh, and the mystery with Jin Guangyao intensifies!! I love that the story is going to explain these little moments that are being set up; that makes me excited! The idea of the "unreliable narrator" is one that is exciting as well! :D

I was warned that this season goes by fast, and this first episode definitely illustrated that! I have a feeling there's going to be a LOT of me going back and reviewing once the episode is done in our discussions! And I'm soooo excited for an after-credit scene! Oh man, the new OP is soooo good. Our booooyyyyyyssss!! I am dusting off the thinking cap and so hyped to get into this season! :3

The scars Lan Zhan has are from a disciplinary whip. If you remember correctly, Wuxian and Wangji were punished with something like bamboo spanking ruler, which resulted in massive bruises. Here - in this episode - Wangji has multiple deep scars. The sect most likely punished him for something, by the Lan standards, horrific, given that a person can easily die from such torture. Hopefully, in the third season we will see the story behind this in it's whole glory (in the book it was one of my personal top "heart-breaking-moments-that-will-make-you-suffer-through-it-all" :) ) And yeah, Wangji is not who he seems to be at first. He actually did rely on his clan rules, but Wuxian was the one to make him question it - as well as all demonic cultivation thing. I suppose from now on Wangji will support Wuxian at all costs - so, in my opinion, when they were trying to "calm down" the demonic hand, it was not a battle of cultivation's paths but them trying to safe people together, no matter what practice they chose. Jin Guangyao was dressed in the Nie robes for a reason.. The rest of the backstory will have everything layed out. Nie Mingjie (prevoius Nie Clan leader) died of Qi deviation, and the reason behind it will be explained later on, don't worry. In this story there is a false bottom to basically everything. Thank you for reaction!

SO MUCH INFORMATION COMES AT YOU IN SUCH A SHORT AMOUNT OF TIME. I’m glad you rewatch things because I still get lost at some points in this season and I’ve seen it like 5 times. Also most of the episodes will have after credit scenes so make sure not to skip them. How’d you like the new OP btw? I told you you’d enjoy it. It’s the same song but a different section. There’s many new things to dissect involving imagery and lyrics. Basically it’s time to put your thinking cap on because your brain will be working at full capacity.

Oh, thank you so much! I was told that this season goes by fast with only 8 episodes, so I want to make sure I pay as close attention as I can -- and of course, I end up thinking out loud through a lot of it, so me working out who Yao was is funny to look back on! Those robes in the flashback did make it confusing! And that makes sense that the bird belongs to Huaisang! Thank you! Ahhhh, the mystery behind the brand and the scars...I have a feeling there will be so much theorizing...and yes, please, more detective couple adventures! I'm so hyped for that! :D :D And the fact that I'm slowly getting names maybe somewhat down makes me happy! I'm usually one of the worst at it! Thanks for the comment! Season 2 HYYYYPE!!!

Romaniablack

Oh wow!! Yeah, Wangji is the tall man in this...hmmm....**needs to read novel for OTHER questions to be answered :3 ** And ahhh, the OP is sooo good! I love the watercolors they kept from Season 1 but with these all new images, especially those of WuXian and Wangji together! ^^ I'm so happy we went back to the present after that trauma at the end of season one, haha!

Romaniablack

I am SO HYPED for Season 2, and ooooooh, your comment has me excited, too! This season has sucked me into the world, for sure, and its characters, especially! I was told that this show was one to REALLY pay attention to, so I try my best to catch all I can! ^^ Ahhhh, I'm loving this show and sooo ready for Season 2! :D :D

Romaniablack

I love how you get the slightest details and try to detect all the suspicious hints! It's a joy watching you react to this, and believe me I've watched many reactions XD Not everyone tries with the names even. You got the moment of "- Wei Wuxian! - Lan Wangji!" so perfectly, ah. Yes, detective couple is the best! I also hope we'll get an explanation for the brand and scars in season 3. The scars are from discipline whip as it was said, not the ferulas they were beaten with in the youth back in the flashbacks, so Wei Ying has no idea why the whipping was done. And the Wen brand scar, yummy piece of info, that one. Also, the wine and the flute - I think Wangji won't begrudge Wuxian those! Meng Yao thing. It's done so confusingly in donghua, and yet you've unravelled it as well! Yes, he's the Jin clan leader now (and the Chief Cultivator), and it was him who stabbed Wen Ruohan where Xichen and Nie Mingjue could do nothing, and that's partially why he's an influencer now and Xichen's friend. His story should be told later in season 3 as well. And yes, they are a truly popular pairing in the fandom (not in the canon but boy all the gazes!). But the bird in the teaser wasn't his, that was Nie Huaisang who's a Nie clan leader now after his brother's death. Meng Yao was wearing smth close to Nie robes under the Wen robes, though.

Super excited for season 2! fair warning, pretty much EVERY episode will end on the feeling of "No! Don't stop here, why?!" lol. My favorite thing about this show is how quickly it sucks the audience into the world and keeps you engaged throughout. I love how attentive to detail you are because seriously in this show EVERYTHING matters! I've watched it so many times and am still finding little details and bits of dialogue that I didn't think were important UNTIL THEY WERE lmao. Season 2 also has a lot of after credit scenes that are plot relevant. So glad to see how much you are loving this show!

Mo Xuan Yu is SHORT, but LWJ is tall (and has very broad shoulder by the way). Mo Xuan Yu is shorter than WWX was in life. According to Exiled Rebel Scantlations....WWX in life was 186cm, as Mo Xuan Yu he's 180 cm and LWJ is 188 cm. The stronger you cultivation core the slower you age. Chronologically LWJ is older that Mo Xuan Yu too. In the flash back in season one WWX and LWJ were in their teens but, its been 13 yrs since WWX death and there had been several years of build up to to his death which occurred after the Sunshot Campaign. LWJ is in his 30s at this point in the story. The OP song is still "Drunken Dreams of the Past" it's just a different verse. Of course the visual give us moments of WWX & LWJ together which speaks to the fact that they are not at odds with each other anymore.
