Bungo Stray Dogs: Episode 5 FULL LENGTH Reaction!

LINK TO REACTION: https://streamable.com/bhgiww

Rampo, you arrogant, brilliant detective, you! This episode was intriguing and fun all the way through (I soooo love Dazai and Atsushi episodes), but THAT TWIST at the end!? That is what I've come to like about this show -- the set up and the reversal! Soooo cool!

I really liked this episode and appreciate Rampo's character even more after this! I like that we're slowly getting all of our main cast introduced! ^^

Thank you for watching the full length reaction and for the support!

Bungo Stray Dogs: Episode 5 FULL LENGTH Reaction!

I have a feeling I'm going to like the Port Mafia stories once we delve more into them! And I've seen the movie on MAL, and I heard about the OVA -- I'll definitely double check to make sure to watch the OVA/Movie either before or after season 2! Thank you!! :D

Re-watching these episodes with you is making me appreciate everyone at the Agency more, though the Port Mafia are still my favorites. I'm not sure if anyone told you this yet, but the BSD OVA and the movie are set after season 2 and before season 3 - the OVA first, then the movie (if I'm wrong, could someone please correct me?)

I'm only to episode 7 at this point watching, so I'm not too far to know too much about these characters -- I do like that the authors that are used in the story are based off of real-life relationships an that's very cool! Thanks for the recommendations; I really like that there are light novels -- I might need to make note of that and ask again about it at the end of season one! Thank you for that info!

*Gasp* Murase plays Sugimoto?! I did not RECOGNIZE his voice -- now I need to go back and re-watch! And I agree, Ranpo's not a "favorite" from what I've met, but I really like the idea of him being respected for his natural gift among those that are "gifted." And it IS hard to hate him once you realize his character -- I really liked how this episode concluded. I can see the pattern now, but I'm all for it! <3 I like a good surprise at the end! ^^

Rampo and Tanizaki were the only ones famous Japanese authors I was kinda familiar with before this anime, and while Tanizaki has family dramas, love and deep philosophy... Rampo has so many different detective stories, some pretty normal, others full with ero-guro and some with even more filthy human mind excretions. I guess you've already researched him by the time you read this and know of his creative way and Poe allusions. A small gift for you: there IS Edgar Allan Poe in this anime :) Sugimoto and another police officer also appear in Rampo's novels, yes. As for in-story Rampo, he can be really annoying but when you dig deeper, you go ohh its okay honey, you do what you will. Yes. he was instrumental in building the Agency, not really in that way but still. There is a light novel telling the story, I think it's already translated by now. About his relationship with Fukuzawa, and about Rampo's family... but before reading that you'll have to watch the beginning of season 2. Ep 6 preview! BTW, 6 and 7 go together since they are also based on a light novel, depicting Dazai's entrance exam from Kunikida's perspective. Dazai's side of story got kinda ditched, so that Atsushi can be included, but it's still obvious he didn't have a place in original story. Nevertheless it's a great story. I love Kunikida and his buddy relationship with Dazai, and you can kinda see how it might have evolved. Oh, returning to real authors! Did you get to the part where real life Dazai was a whiney brat lusting after Akutagawa's attention and a literary prize after his name? Manga author had it turned upside down, kind of like he did with Rampo and Poe. Maybe it was a personal preference towards Dazai Osamu, maybe just a creative approach, but anyway it's hilarious how in this anime it's Akutagawa who goes NOTICE ME SEMPAI. Also, if you ever have a craving for more japanese literary allusions, try "Bungo to Alchemist". It's also an anime but based on a mobile game where dead authors are revived in a mysterious library to fight the monsters destroying their book worlds, and it is packed full with small hints to their relations and stories and everything, it's had for non-japanese person to unpack! But still very pretty, you can just google the characters designs for fun.

It's a little solo episode that isn't talked about much in the grand plot scheme, but it's still a really fun one like most episodes are honestly. And I see you've caught on to the set up plot twist pattern. It gets you where you don't expect it. Ranpo's not exactly a high favorite of mine, only beacuse there are several that I am personally bisased toward later down the line, whether we've met them and witness character development later or have yet to see them at all, but he's still a quite beloved character despite all the brazen arrogance. It's hard to hate him. And the social commentary most definitely lends to his case of his likeability. He's not gifted in a world where gifted seemingly have the higher status and yet he's revered at the agency and everyone knows that. It really is an uno reverse and damn it I love the series for it. Hey fun fact, Sugimoto, the convicted officer, is voiced by Ayumu Murase. Aka our beloved Hinata Shoyo so I just find that funny to see where voice actors can spread their talents so seamlessly.

I really liked this episode!! And yes!! He's older but has that REALLY youthful presence! Also, YES! A quirkless hero (who doesn't get a power later on hahaha) would be SO interesting in MHA!

This is not the biggest episode but it’s one of my favorites. I am a scker for brilliant characters AND strong people w/o a power in a world with powers. That’s the reason why I hope one day we get a quirkless hero on MHA. 💕 I also love that he’s one of the oldest in the agency and yet he’s kind of their child 😂
