Ace of the Diamond: Episodes 4-6 FULL LENGTH Reaction!

And all this quiet, stoic individual wants is for our chaotic gremlin Miyuki to catch his pitches...seems reasonable, right? Furuya is QUITE the character, and I'm excited to see more of him!
We also get introduced to this sweet girl, Haruno, and another gremlin -- Haruichi -- both of whom I think I'm really going to like in this show! If they both survive Sawamura's antics!

I can definitely see the similarities already to Slam Dunk, but then, I see how Haikyuu takes several pages from Slam Dunk as well, so I am TOTALLY fine with it! And yes, pacing-wise, Haikyuu is a lot shorter, so there's much more happening perhaps per episode, which makes me happy I'm doing 3-in-1 for these reactions. I was not sure how I would feel about a baseball sports anime, but I'm actually really enjoying it so far! ^^

2021-06-16 17:33:14 +0000 UTCwhen i was watching the show back in the day , it was somehow frustrating to watch Eijun struggle a lot, like a lot a lot haha. But in hindsight , i think that whats kept me hooked and idk, it felt fresh back then to see MC not super talented and OP, haha

I can’t wait for you to get to know more about them so we can gush!! 💕💕 I find it amusing that Eijun is the only one with a scholarship of the three but also the least “talented”. He is terrible at batting and fielding as you saw and he doesn’t even know what’s special about his own pitching. So he’s got a LOT to learn. And what better way to push yourself than with a great rival? 😏❤️ Your confusion over our pink hair kids killed me 😂 Yes, there’s two. Haruichi who is a first year and the one in the first string who is an upperclassman. Both are amazing. 💕💕 Also, for context, in baseball, the batting average is 1.0 if perfect and they said Haruichi had an average of 0.6 at the end of middle school, so he’s really good. Like, 0.3 or more is considered great and he has 0.6! Plus, we got to see that he makes a great fielder in that one scene. I love how subtly they established the difference between Furuya and Eijun in this episode. While Furuya has immense talent, he doesn’t know how to be a team player as he proved by quitting the game once he got what he wanted. On the other hand, Eijun does not give up until the game is over and kept his team motivated even when he wasn’t the one playing. In case you are taking notes on the characters positions, of the ones we’ve met that they’ve already said their positions: Miyuki is a catcher, Tanba, Eijun and Furuya are pitchers and Haruichi is a second baseman. ☺️☺️ See you next week! 2021-06-16 16:06:49 +0000 UTCAce of Diamond is a bit older sports shounen, so its focus and tropes are more similar to slam dunk (I assume) . I like it a lot personally , but I am glad I watched it years before haikyuu was even a thing , haha. Haikyuu as much as its sports shounen its a lot more modern the way characters are fleshed out and matches are done. Its also the pacing , haikyuu is much much shorter , so character progression and match progression happens on every episode or so. I was wondering if you might not like it ace of diamond because of the expectations of sports shounen like haikyuu and how it revolves around characters but since you liked slam dunk , thats not gonna be an issue .
