Ace of the Diamond: Episodes 13-15 FULL LENGTH Reaction!

It's time for a TRAINING CAMP! But unlike sports anime, where we're scraping and scrounging to find teams to practice with and motivate the players -- oh, no no no -- Seidou proves once again that it's a prestigious school who takes these training camps VERY seriously.

What have our trio of first-years gotten themselves into?
This set of episodes was REALLY fun and interesting!

Ace of the Diamond: Episodes 13-15 FULL LENGTH Reaction!

Thank you so much for the kind words and comment! YES! I didn't known what to expect with this series, but like you said -- it's a fresh approach to what we normally think of with the "underdog" team in a sports Shonen, so it's definitely kept my attention! I agree wholeheartedly with what you said about Sawamura and Miyuki (originator of the sports love triangle, ahahaha), but I will say this for Furuya. I saw him as the broody, quiet foil to Sawamura at first, but I've become surprised at how dynamic his character can be. He's not just a cold-hearted prodigy -- he's got some personality deep inside there (i.e. likes being praised, welcomes friendship since he's been alone all this time) -- I've become surprised with how his character has gone so far and I'm curious to see what happens with him. And I didn't realize how popular baseball was in Japan -- I'm used to sports anime about sports that need more awareness in Japan, so this is another welcome change! I'm excited to see where all these characters go in the series! ^^

Finally, I have time to catch-up on this. :) It's been about a year since I discovered DnA - and marathon-ed it in about a month, and I've wanted to see someone's live-reaction, so my apologies for being so excited! I've let too many episodes pass to do justice commenting on each set, so I have just a few general thoughts on DnA up through now: Sawamura is the more-or-less typical shonen protagonist in an atypical sports shonen anime. He's great. :) Miyuki is a dangerous combination of awesome and troll. :D I mean, both Sawamura and Furuya set off across Japan to be with him, I mean play with him... Furuya's tall, dark and cool isn't really my thing, but I'm trying to give him another chance. There's only one Sasuke, lol. For a shonen, DnA seems to do its best to stay true to life - high school baseball in Japan isn't like other clubs. It feeds kaibutsu "monster players" directly into the pro-leagues. For example, current MLB pitchers Shohei Otani and Yu Darvish were recruited into Japan's league, the NPB, straight out of high school. The competition is on another level. You can give 100% and it still not be enough. If you fall behind, it's over. Which makes me love that Seido isn't the typical under-dog school. It's usually the school we root against. But there's still so much dynamism and room for character growth. I really am glad you're watching this, and hopefully enjoying it! Best regards!

Right?! We needed an OVA on that! And also, I may have to make a meme for Twitter about the Miyuki Kool Aid, now! :D :D

I cannot even begin to imagine how Shiratorizawa trains! Seijoh Never won and practiced against college students so Shiratorizawa must have been insane! … the Miyuki Kool Aid 😂😂😂 I died !

Yessss, I LOVED how the set of episodes showed the gap between Haruichi and his brother starting out seemingly small and then widening and widening. These third years have been conditioned, whereas our first year boys just have raw, unpolished potential. And oh, ho, ho, Tanba has not drank the Miyuki Kool-Aid it seems. ^^ And yeah, this isn't the rag-tag pulling it together training camps of Haikyuu -- this is what I would imagine Seijoh or Shiratorizawa's training camps were like. @_@ And YES! Miyuki is a Gojo-level master troll, but we love him! And awww, yeah, Furuya was so happy getting to have friends! Sawamura, though, haha!! Not so much! And YES! Zono was so cool -- like you said, it's neat seeing upperclassman that would normally be "side" characters, actually doing well! It definitely makes this series stand out! Thanks for the comment! Bring on the next set of episodes!

The difference in strength between our talented first years and their amazing senpai is finally showing. Especially with Haruichi who seemed equally brilliant as his brother until now. Plus, we are finally getting to know more about our third and second years and their relationships and rivalries…It seems that not all pitchers in the team are in love with Miyuki 😅 I think the anime showed perfectly the difference in strengths between the new recruits and the 2nd and 3rd year while ALSO, showing that the experienced players can go even further by having the coach whip them into shape 😇 Miyuki is such a troll! I died when he made Furuya and Eijun take care of the 3rd years in his stead. And watching the 3rd years bully Miyuki as much as Kuramochi bullies Eijun was amazing 😂 And I loved that Furuya enjoyed getting things to the upper classmates bc he has never had teammates/friends before and he’s loving it. 😢❤️ Meanwhile, poor Sawamura is suffering. 😂😂 Zono and Kanemaru are highlights of these episodes to me. I respect how dedicated they are to helping the team even though they didn’t make it themselves. This is the only sports anime I’ve watched in which the role of characters that aren’t even on the team is given so much importance. Zono reprimanding the 2nd years that skipped practice was such a good scene. Glad you are enjoying it! And I think you are going to keep finding new favorite episodes each week bc we are just getting started 😂😂💕

Aww, I'm so happy that I'm part of the morning routine! Honestly, that doesn't sound too different to some of my mornings I record: Eat breakfast, have coffee, record a reaction, go jog -- just a little different, but not with apple tartes! That sounds delicious! ^^ Chris-senpai is officially one of my favorites; him and Miyuki -- these catchers -- making me catch feels! *drum snare* Seriously, though, this training camp was so cool! I like that Miyuki and Furuya have gotten to bond and how much Sawamura has bonded with his Chris-senpai! Miyuki is such a troll, though! It's odd, I want Furuya and Sawamura to both work with Miyuki -- it's not a love triangle, though -- what's the term? OT3? :P Thanks so much for the kind words; I am really excited each week to get into more episodes with this show and see where it goes! It's definitely giving me my sports anime fix!

What a perfect way to finish my morning: get back from my morning jog, do laundry then sit down with a cup of coffee and an apple tarte I baked last night, refresh my patreon page at 10am exactly to watch Romania's Ace of the Diamond reactions! I was so excited for this weeks episodes and I knew you would especially love all the emotional scenes and character interactions these few episodes contain, they are some of my favorite as well. Chris is best senpai hands down, in all his Patrick Swayze-ness (ever since you mentioned it I can't not see it, lol). The little bonding moments between Miyuki and Furuya are great because like you said, they are similar in certain ways and I love how perceptive Miyuki can be when it comes to reading people, even seemingly stoic ones like Furuya (part of why he's such a great catcher). He said it was fine to be the way he was and lead with strength yet he picked up on Furuya's desire and struggle with wanting to be part of the group but not knowing how, so later he created an opportunity for Furuya (and Sawamura) to interact more personally with his teammates and as Eijun pointed out by the vending machine, this made Furuya happy. That it also gets Miyuki a chance for some peace and quiet finally is just how he rolls, lol, never just one objective with that one. I'm really looking forward to next weeks episodes, I love how much you're enjoying this show!
