I am really loving this cast of characters so far, though! From Benedict, to Erica, to Cattleya; everyone is so expressive and uniquely invested in Violet so far...and we bookend the episode with teases about Gilbert...UGH. SHOW. You can't do this to me!

That lip quiver about made me a mess! Hodgins is reallly growing on me as a character! And I have a feeling Gilbert is going to wreck me by the end of this. Diethard giving me major Dragon Moon vibes from Banana Fish...and poor Violet; having to go to a life that isn't war....ugh....it's really good so far as a show, but it's grabbing at the ol' heart strings already!

2021-08-04 01:01:53 +0000 UTCThis show is so so good about the subtle face acting - that lip quiver from Hodgins at the end did more to me emotionally than a lot of shows can do with a character full-on sobbing. I've heard the show described as "watching someone go to therapy", which is pretty effective in terms of how deeply it'll hit you! Violet's only ever known war, and now she has to figure out how to, basically, be a person, not a weapon (thanks for that, Diethard).

2021-08-03 17:45:50 +0000 UTCShowing character growth arc through impact on other characters is one of the great qualities of this show. Everyone around Violet is slowly changing because of her, and she is trying so hard and honest so my heart goes out to her even in the most awkward situations.
