Ace of the Diamond: Episodes 28 - 31 FULL LENGTH Reaction!

There was SO MUCH happening in this set of episodes, it's hard to summarize!

Basically, Shunshin has my heart, but Raichi has my curiosity and full attention!

A father-son, coach-player duo? Who are both chaotic, banana-chomping gremlins? And there's a bat with "Money Tree" burned into it?! This is an episode of "Keeping up with the Todoroki's" I was NOT expecting!

Thank you for watching with me, and for the support!

Ace of the Diamond: Episodes 28 - 31 FULL LENGTH Reaction!

Yeah, I wanted to keep to watching three episodes so it worked out this week! I felt bad for Shunshin, too; he starts to really enjoy the game, only for it to end. *wipes tear* I don't want to be spoiled, but I hope we do see him again! And it's funny to think of Miyuki as a tsundere, because he's so outgoing and does talk to his teammates a lot, but yeah, I guess he is as well! That's a fun observation! I do like the glow of their eyes, too! And I will say, Sawamura's is probably the best; agreed! I like that he's taking bits and pieces of his teammates' actions and incorporating it into his own style! And that "disgusting pitch" -- that's what I'm looking forward to seeing more of with Sawamura! :D WAIT! WE SAW HARUICHI'S EYES?! WHAT!?! I need to go back and watch it!! And oooooohhhhh yes, Sorry MHA, but this new Todoroki duo may be my favorite! I just LOVE them so much! I can't wait to talk about the series of episodes coming up, but their story is so unique and fresh -- I love it so far and I can't wait to learn more! And I don't know Kensho too much, but I'll have to look him up. And OH! Wow, that's a throwback with Ichidai's coach and Yu-Gi-Oh! Thank you for the kind words and comment! I'm so excited to see where the match with Raichi's team goes! :D

I'm surprised (pleasantly so) that you watched three episodes after the recap instead of including it in the count and keeping to the 3 per week. On the other hand, I would hate to have to wait a week to resolve that cliffhanger! I usually wait until a series is finished before watching it, or spoiling myself, because I hate cliffhangers that much! I don't really have much to say about the end of the Akikawa game itself other than what I said about them last week about Shunshin and several times about underdogs. No matter how brilliant he is individually, Shunshin can't carry his team to victory - I'm pretty sure he realizes that himself and just starts enjoying the battle for its own sake once Miyuki hits off of him. He's playing the game he came to Japan for. Maybe that competitive drive coupled with his precision pitching (this is control Furuya & Sawamura) is what makes Miyuki recognize him. I think it says something that this might be the first time since seeing Chris play in the practice game that Miyuki unequivocally wants to play with and/or against someone. He usually comes off as manipulative (or tsundere as you say, when he refuses to compliment Sawamura after the Coach and Chris have done so) or snarky, even if the meaning behind his words is genuine (and that light in his eyes - X.X - even though almost all the characters only have differing shades of brown - they each have their own "glow"; Sawamura's burning gold is my favorite though). I do feel bad for Shunshin. It is unfair that his time in Taiwan is counted against his eligibility in Japan. They have no relation to each other. But this series is authentic to its setting, and while I can't say specifically that this situation is correct or not, in researching for fanfics, I've come to realize how regulated even the school sport is. It might not always be the case, though; there are serious - if not slow - discussions about shifting the Japanese school year's start date to September as well, to make it more in line with the West. Nothing may ever come of it, although businesses and universities really want it, but that would be the sad end of the "under the cherry blossoms" moments. :( End the end, though, all of this is worth it to be able to see Sawamura go all out and dominate. "His pitches feel disgusting". I'm glad you brought that up, because that's almost exactly the words Furuya used when they first met and were playing catch, continuing that they might be hard to hit - well here we are. It's hard to believe he's only 3 months from effectively not knowing how to pitch properly. And as an added bonus, he is inexplicably gifted in bunting, much to Kuramochi's chagrin - to whom it's great to see Sawamura start to give back some of the ribbing that he gets - I think Miyuki is starting to rub off on him (and not just Miyuki, he's already mastered Miyauchi's bull snort and Ishashiki's yelling, LOL). I guess I had more to say about the Akikawa game than I thought... Oh, and I can't believe you didn't say anything about seeing Haruichi's eyes (well, eye) when he hit against Shunshin. We finally got to see behind the curtains! Now then, on to one of my favorite episodes - and favorite moments - in the anime: Todoroki Raichi and his laser-beam home run. The awesome fade-to-white of the background as everyone realizes that something is wrong. His father, the coach, just sitting there, smirking like everything is working out like it should... These are my favorite Todorokis. Sorry, Shoto+Endeavor. I too was expecting them just to be cannon fodder that might prove to be a speedbump at best. Boy, was I wrong. And Todoroki really is something else; he's not just a batter version of Sawamura - he has way more skill with the bat than Sawamura has with the ball...or way more instict. I look forward to seeing how it's resolved: the fated rival or the dark horse? By the, since you asked, Raichi's voice actor is Ono Kensho. I don't really follow voice actor's resumes, but he's famously known for voicing the title character of Kuroko's Basketball. One last thing, about the coach of Ichidai - whenever he says -boy, I flash back to Pegasus in Yu-Gi-Oh! - taunting Yugi or Kaiba just before he plays Toon World.

Yesss, I hadn't put two and two together there, but especially with him being the older brother, that's really interesting! And oooooh, those Oikawa parallels; I knew I liked him! ;) Yeah, it's so sad...maybe he can play college ball in Japan? That would be cool! That's a really good point about the pitchers! Yeah, they still need that "ace" pitcher to rely on, and other than Tanba (who's injured), that is still a weak spot. And yeah, they trusted Shun the WHOLE game, which I thought was REALLY impressive! Kuromochi is funny -- very petty and so loud, but yeah, he can't catch a break. Him and Jun crack me up -- -- but not as much as the Todoroki duo! Oh my GOSH, he is like a more chaotic version of Sawamura...and his dad only feeds the flames! I can't wait to see more of them hopefully in the future episodes!

I love that Sawamura calls Ryousuke oniisan, especially since the brothers themselves rarely acknowledge each other at the school. I can just imagine Ryousuke’s shock the first time he heard it…his eyes might have opened! 😂😂 Shun reminds me so much of Oikawa. It hurt me so much that neither of them got to go to Nationals. And yes! Having a pitcher with perfect control would be the a dream for Miyuki who has to manage these baby first years with no control whatsoever 😂 The difference between both team in pitchers is really noticeable. While our team has lots of good pitchers, rn, they dont have a true ace…a player so reliable that they can confide a whole game in him. Like, for example, there’s no doubt in anyones mind that Miyuki would get replace for another catcher in the middle of a game…he’s the absolute best at his position. But for our pitchers that’s not the case. And having a pitcher like Shun who you can trust a whole game to is such a game changer, it gives the whole team confidence. On the other hand, with our team, we never know what condition our first year pitchers will come out in…they are just too green still. And Kuramochi was so petty this game. At the end when he says, “I never want to play you again”, I died 😂😂 And, of course, when he finally managed to get on base, troll Miyuki had to helpfully point out that it was only because of the other team’s error. He just cant get a break 😂😂 And the Todoroki duo. They are so funny! I love that Raichi seems like a devil when batting but since he is still a first year, he is still bullied by his teammates like Sawamura is 😂
