Mo Dao Zu Shi Season 3: Episode 2 FULL LENGTH Reaction!

Holy cow, things are NOT as they seem, are they?! I figured we'd get some twists and turns, considering it's the final season, but already?! I was a mess in this discussion...my brain is mush; it's a good thing there's a week in between these episodes, haha!

WuXian's identity is getting picked up on by more and more people, the mystery is getting trickier and deeper...but it's a good thing our chaotic gremlin is "Crafty," eh? Wangji better look out...especially for WuXian to serve him spicy porridge before all this is through...

Thanks for watching with me and for the support!

Mo Dao Zu Shi Season 3: Episode 2 FULL LENGTH Reaction!

That sucks that it's region-locked! :( I hate that! Booooooo... I am grateful they have simulcast English subtitles, but that's good to know that there are some discrepanciesit'll be interesting to see how the official English translation of the novel turns out. I deeeeefffffinitely am getting the vibes that there's a lot that has been left out and altered from the novel, so I am REALLY excited to see the novel and listen to the audio drama, to see what was changed! :3 And yessss, domestic life with WuXian and Wangji as best parents; I love it so! Ahhh, the dreaded Chinese "Q" and my inability to pronounce it! >.< One day...one day I will be able to do it! Thank you for the information, though! And that's interesting about Yao and the impersonation details...hmmm... And WOW, he was only 16 when he met Xiao Xingchen?! That's insane....yeah, what's with these anime and donghua and the kids having forced to go to war? Ahhh....insanity! And oooh, that's a good point -- Wangji didn't want the "kids" to know about their date! And of course, WuXian's a gremlin about it! :D Great observation, there! Ahhh..a lot to like about this episode!

Yesss, I am loving all the callbacks to MDZSQ in this season! :) And ahhhh, it's such a double-edged sword -- you want Ling to recognize WuXian, but I don't want the pain that will come with that revelation! T_T Ahhhh, and next episode? All I can say is it's probably my favorite of the whole show so far...I'm SO. EXCITED. ^^

Romaniablack

Ahhh, that makes me excited to see where the novel and show deviate! :) But I'm savoring this season so far! And ahhh, the Chinese "Q" will be the death of me! -_- Maybe one day, I'll get it right!

Ofc the cure is spicy when you have wuxian the one making it lmao!! I also wish for ling to realize that it’s actually wuxian, but you have to remember that he doesn’t like him either. In fact, I think he would reject his affection even more because he’s still the ‘villain’ that ‘killed’ his parents. Next episode is complete pain though. Made me feel depressed. (Maybe you’ve watched it already too since you have vip? :c )

(Offtopic) After acquiring the WeTV Youtube subscription I've hoped to watch Island of Silyang as well since it's also there for VIPs... nope, region-locked, sigh. But screencaps look so pwettyyy! I've also had a thought of melodious Chinese language introduced through TV shows, it really grows on you. And official subs regularly dig up English words I didn't encounter before either XD Like "libation", a kind of religious offering made with wine as I now know. Although in other places they've opted for too simple choice. "Ash summoning"? That's "Summoning of drawn eyes"! "Why "Frost", when it's "Frost flower"? Why "Snow", when it's "Brushing snow away"? Both as poetic references, of course, can't expect less from Chinese. For example, Baixue temple is not just "White snow", it's an idiom meaning that only the best, the world elite, will come out educated from this institution. How I'd love subtitles to give us this kind of information... Woah Wei Ying being so badasss in this episode! Fighting high-level corpse in melee, with a flute against a sword! Ahh my heart sings. Oh now I probably get it, why so many of those corpses have their souls damaged, that's for experiments sake... And those bodies in the beginning of season 2, the incomplete seals for dealing with corpses - also Xue Yang's earlier works. Still, there is so much in this story arc that is rushed and gets glazed over. Like, why is simple rice a cure? Because diluted rice porridge is a folk "remedy" for cold, flu and other simple body imbalances, and red pepper can help you to sweat the sickness out. Why does it apply to corpse poisoning? Well, the author is the master, she knows best. Why does high threshold help against spirits? That's because Chinese "zombies" from folk stories are not capable of bending their legs and can just hop a bit! Why are there paper dolls all over the place? Where is Tiger seal and why did Xue Yang mess with it? Why did Xue Yang kill Chang Ping with the Frost? Why was Xue Yang so badly beaten when Xiao Xingchen met him again? Okay, those answers are kinda hinted at later but still not explained properly. I definitely plan to listen to audiodrama after this, there is so much in the novel that must be narrated clearly, and they better do it! Since it's the story in itself, written by MXTX long before MDZS and added into it just after you get the first vibes of the main couple. Thus, the parallels. Lots of parallels. Also, Wangji being a strict dad and Wuxian slipping into the role of tutor for the ducklings so effortlessly! Ah, the family life I simp for. Yao didn't impersonate anyone, though, he just joined Wen forces and worked for Wen Ruohan until the stabbing XD Him shirking the Wen robes and revealing Nie clothes is mostly a symbolic gesture since he worked for Nie Mingjue before that, so he's being like "I returned with a trophy, surprise, I'm still loyal!" Xue Yang in the novel used magic to impersonate Xiao Xingchen, in live action it was some kind of flesh mask I think. Here, though... A wig, maybe? And spare robes. He's hiding the sword (genuine) to make juniors think he's Xiao Xingchen trying to hide it's him but failing, a trap inside a trap. Song Lan as a corpse fights with his own sword, "Snow" (probably it doesn't reject him since he's a high-level corpse like Wen Ning?) The girl's name can be read in two ways but the fan translations always write it as A-Qing (A-Chin), it's pretty common character and common reading. Also, consider this: Xue Yang is supposed to be around 14 when Wei Ying died. No more than 16 when he met Xiao Xingchen. Who is supposed to be 17 or 18 at that point. They are mainly children dammit! Damn this world where 15-year olds are forced to win the war and their seniors like Jin Guangshan then fuck it all up again. The scene where Wei Ying remembers Wangji ordering spicy food, is their Yiling date with A-Yuan. Before that, yep, never, since Lan rules prescribe the most bland foods for the cultivation sake, as we've seen in MDZS Q. So it's like "Oh, did he really never have spice? Well I know that's not true, I know him better than you youngsters!" And Wangji coughing ashamed at him, like "Not in front of juniors, dear wife, don't undermine my authority" XD
